The practical choice is between winding a mechanical watch by hand and the lower-interaction ownership of quartz.
How the Modul B Mechanical and Modul C Quartz compare
The specifications below are for these two named variants as listed by Windup Watch Shop. Paulin’s collection has appeared in different configurations, so older reviews may describe different movements or crystals.

Windup Watch Shop’s listing is the source for the exact-variant comparison above. The movement distinction is the main functional difference established by that listing; it does not specify battery life, service intervals, or accuracy figures.
Which movement suits you?
Choose the Modul B Mechanical for hand winding
The B Mechanical is listed with an LJP D100 hand-wound movement. It suits someone who wants a mechanical watch and is happy to wind it as part of wearing it. The cited retailer listing supports that caliber identification; do not substitute other caliber names sometimes associated with Modul coverage without confirmation for this exact reference.

Choose the Modul C Quartz for less hands-on ownership
The C Quartz is listed with the ETA F06.105. Quartz is the lower-interaction option in this pairing: it does not require daily hand winding in the way the mechanical model does. The available listing does not establish a battery-life figure or a specific service schedule, so check with Paulin or the seller for those details.
Fit, construction, and straps
At 35 mm across and 40 mm from lug to lug, both listed watches are compact. Their listed 8.2 mm thickness and 18 mm lug width are also identical, so the retailer’s dimensions do not create a size-based distinction between these variants.

- AN ICON SINCE 1989 — THE WORLD'S MOST POPULAR DIGITAL WATCH — Introduced in June 1989 as a successor to the F-87W, the F-91W is popular for its low price, long battery life, and iconic design. As of 2026, production of the watch has reached 100 million units, making it the most sold watch in the world. A timeless design, unchanged since launch, that has earned a global cult following across generations.
- FEATHERLIGHT & SLIM — Urethane resin is employed for the case and band, and the module features a reduced number of components — every element of construction was reconsidered to secure high quality at an affordable price, resulting in a global hit watch that offers both affordability and long-lasting reliability. The case measures 38.2 × 35.2 × 8.5mm and weighs just 21 grams — barely noticeable on the wrist.
- 1/100-SECOND STOPWATCH WITH SPLIT TIME — The 1/100-second stopwatch covers elapsed time, split time, and 1st-2nd place timing up to 59'59.99" — precise enough for sports, training, cooking, and any timed activity. Handy features for day-to-day life also include a daily alarm, water resistance, and LED light functions.
- DAILY ALARM | HOURLY CHIME | AUTO-CALENDAR | LED LIGHT — Module 593 delivers functions for a daily alarm, chronograph/stopwatch, annual calendar, and hourly chime, with selectable 12 or 24-hour format. The auto-calendar and LED backlight round out a complete, practical feature set in a package that fits any wrist from 145 to 200mm.
- 7-YEAR BATTERY | MODULE 593 | 18MM LUG WIDTH — Powered by a CR2016 battery with an approximate 7-year life — often lasting 10 or more years in practice. The F-91W has an 18mm lug width, meaning standard 18mm NATO straps fit directly without any modification — making it one of the most customizable and mod-friendly watches available at any price point.
Paulin describes the Modul case as a modular construction: a black steel movement body sits within a brushed stainless-steel outer case, joined by screws. The brand’s official Modul B Quartz page gives related design and specification details, including 316L steel, sapphire box-section crystal, and an 18 mm strap width. That page describes the B Quartz variant, not direct confirmation of every detail for the B Mechanical or C Quartz listed by the retailer.
An 18 mm strap is a useful starting point when searching for a replacement, but width alone does not prove fit. Check the attachment and end shape, as well as the exact watch revision, before buying a strap.

Water resistance and crystal differences
Both variants are listed at 5 ATM. Treat that as a stated water-resistance rating, not a blanket promise that either watch is suitable for diving or every water activity. The cited product information does not provide detailed use instructions, so consult Paulin or the seller before exposing the watch to water beyond ordinary incidental contact.
Older hands-on coverage describes a different Modul configuration: its reviewed watches had Hesalite crystals, and the quartz example used an ETA 955.112. The later Windup listing for the title’s C Quartz instead specifies sapphire and ETA F06.105. These differences are a reason to match specifications to the exact variant and listing rather than assuming every Modul has the same configuration. See Fratello’s review for the earlier reviewed examples.

Price and availability
Time+Tide reported article-era prices of £450 for the quartz model and £990 for the mechanical model; those figures are historical, not current quotes. The retailer listing identifies the two variants but does not establish their present stock, regional pricing, taxes, shipping costs, or warranty terms. Check a live Paulin or seller page for current details before ordering. Time+Tide’s coverage is the source for those historical prices, and the retailer’s collection page is a place to verify the live listing.
