The Piaget Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tourbillon is 2 mm thick and 41.5 mm in diameter, with a flying tourbillon integrated into its ultra-thin construction. Introduced in 2024 for Piaget’s 150th anniversary, it pushed the brand’s thin-watch architecture into a more complicated form. Its launch-era thinness record has since been surpassed, but the watch remains a striking technical achievement.
What makes the Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tourbillon unusual?
Most watches add a complication by building more height into the movement or case. Piaget instead says it retained the original Altiplano Ultimate Concept’s 2 mm overall thickness while adding a flying tourbillon. The result is a notably thin watch with a complication typically associated with more elaborate movement architecture.
Piaget says the tourbillon required 25% additional power. To accommodate it, the company redesigned 90% of the original Altiplano Ultimate Concept’s components and developed new machinery. Those figures describe Piaget’s account of the engineering changes, not a general measure of how much a tourbillon adds to any watch.

How it fits Piaget’s ultra-thin history
The tourbillon edition builds on the original Altiplano Ultimate Concept, which Piaget says took four years of research and development. The original watch measured 2 mm including its case and sapphire crystal, and Piaget says it first beat on February 7, 2017, at 7:47 pm. Its architecture used wheels as thin as 0.12 mm and a 0.2 mm sapphire crystal, and Piaget associates the development with five patents. The original Ultimate Concept—not the later Tourbillon edition—won the GPHG Aiguille d’Or in 2020.
That distinction matters: the original watch established the 2 mm platform, while the anniversary Tourbillon reworked much of that platform to incorporate the complication without increasing the stated thickness. Piaget introduced the Tourbillon in 2024 as part of its 150th-anniversary collection. Richemont’s FY2025 report also identifies the launch as 2 mm thick (Richemont FY2025 results and reports).

Is it still the world’s thinnest tourbillon?
No longer according to the cited specialist reporting. Fratello reported in 2025 that Bulgari’s 1.85 mm Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon surpassed Piaget’s 2024 tourbillon record. That comparison is time-specific and based on secondary reporting; it should not be read as a claim that Piaget’s watch is no longer exceptional, or as a complete comparison of every aspect of the two watches.
For a useful comparison, check more than the headline thickness: whether the figure includes the case and crystal, the complication, movement architecture, case material, diameter and launch year. The available figures here establish Piaget’s stated 2 mm thickness and 41.5 mm diameter, alongside Fratello’s 2025 report of Bulgari’s 1.85 mm model; they do not provide a full side-by-side specification set.

Versions, price and availability
A 2025 Fratello report described a green-and-gold version and identified its movement as the manual-winding caliber 970P-UC. That report said Piaget had not published its price at the time. Treat those details as reporting on that iteration rather than a complete official specification sheet for every version.
