Yes, Google released firmware 3.154 for the Pixel Buds Pro 2. The update was announced on June 11, 2025, and its official changelog listed only “minor bug fixes.” It was not a major feature update, and it should not be treated as the latest Pixel Buds Pro 2 firmware in 2026: later reporting identified release_5.203 for the Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Buds 2a.
Owners should check the version shown in their own Pixel Buds settings rather than trying to find or install 3.154 specifically.

What firmware 3.154 changed
Google’s official announcement describes Pixel Buds Pro 2 firmware 3.154 simply as a release containing minor bug fixes. Google did not identify the bugs, and there is no official evidence that this version improved battery life, sound quality, active noise cancellation, or call performance.

1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIt also should not be credited with later Pixel Buds Pro 2 features such as Adaptive Audio, Loud Noise Protection, improved Gemini Live behavior in noisy environments, or head-gesture call controls. Google announced those capabilities separately in a later 2025 software update.

The June 2025 release was reported as the second post-launch firmware update for the Pixel Buds Pro 2. Google’s announcement is available in the Pixel Buds Community, with additional rollout context from 9to5Google.

- Pair the Pixel Buds Pro 2 with a computer over Bluetooth.
- Open Google’s Pixel Buds web companion app in Chrome or Edge.
- Select the earbuds.
- Open the firmware section and follow any available update prompt.
Google lists support for ChromeOS 128 or newer, macOS Sonoma 14 or newer, and Windows 11 or newer. Browser Bluetooth permissions and an active computer pairing are required.
How the automatic update works
When the earbuds are connected to a Pixel or compatible Android device, they download available firmware in the background. Google says the download takes approximately 10 minutes, and the earbuds can remain usable during that stage.
Installation begins after both earbuds are placed in the charging case with sufficient battery. Installation also takes about 10 minutes. Keep the phone nearby, leave both earbuds in the case, and avoid opening the case or removing an earbud during installation. Removing the earbuds can pause the process.

- Google Pixel Buds 2a deliver lightweight comfort, crisp audio, Active Noise Cancellation, and a dependable battery, all for less[1]
- Hear only what you want to hear; Google Tensor A1 powers Active Noise Cancellation with Silent Seal 1.5 to help block external noise; or switch to Transparency mode to hear the world around you while you listen
- Immerse yourself in clear, crisp audio with the 11 mm dynamic speaker driver, or customize the levels of bass, treble, and more with the 5-band equalizer
- Pixel Buds 2a are built for lightweight comfort and an impeccable fit; secure them during workouts or commutes with the twist-to-adjust stabilizer, or twist the other direction for relaxed comfort
- Hear and be heard with Clear Calling; it helps block background noise, so wind, external chatter, or other distractions in your environment won’t interrupt your conversations[2]
How to trigger a manual update
- Place both earbuds securely in the charging case and make sure they have adequate charge.
- Open Pixel Buds settings on a Pixel phone, or open the Google Pixel Buds app on another Android phone.
- On a non-Pixel Android phone, go to More settings → Firmware update.
- Tap Manual update available if that option appears.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Google estimates that a manual update can take approximately 15 minutes. The manual option may not appear when the device is already up to date, when the rollout has not reached the earbuds, or when the phone cannot properly communicate with the case.

Why 3.154 may not appear
Not seeing 3.154 does not necessarily mean something is wrong. Google may stage firmware availability, and your earbuds may already have a newer version. Later reports in May and June 2026 identified release_5.203 for the Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Buds 2a, although owners should verify the version displayed on their own devices rather than assume universal availability.
Other common causes include:
- Out-of-date Android software or Pixel Buds app.
- Low battery in the earbuds or charging case.
- The earbuds are not currently connected.
- A stale app status that has not refreshed.
- Incomplete pairing or a previous interrupted update.
Try this sequence:
- Update Android and the Google Pixel Buds app.
- Charge both earbuds and the case.
- Reconnect the earbuds.
- Close and reopen the Pixel Buds app.
- Check More settings → Firmware update.
- Try Google’s web companion app.
- Remove and re-pair the earbuds if the update still does not appear.
Do not download unofficial firmware files. Pixel Buds updates should be performed through Google’s supported Android or web workflow.

What to do if the web update is stuck
For a Windows update stuck at 0% or 50%, Google recommends the following recovery process:
- Return to the web companion app homepage.
- Disconnect the earbuds from the web app.
- In Windows, open Settings → Bluetooth & devices.
- Remove the Pixel Buds device.
- Pair the earbuds with the computer again.
- Return to the web companion app and retry the update.
Resetting the earbuds should be a last resort because it removes the existing pairing and requires setup again.

Firmware 3.154 is relevant mainly as a historical June 2025 release or for an unusually outdated pair that has not updated since then. Google announced it on June 11, 2025. Later 2026 coverage reported release_5.203, so a current article should not describe 3.154 as the newest firmware.
If your Pixel Buds Pro 2 still show 3.154, install the official update offered by Google when the earbuds and case are charged. If no update is offered, use the version shown in the Pixel Buds app or web companion app as the source of truth and work through the connection and pairing steps above.
Pixel Buds Pro 2 can pair with Bluetooth 4.0-or-newer devices, including iPhones, tablets, and laptops, but Google’s full management and firmware workflow is centered on Android and its web companion app. Full feature access requires a Google Account, internet access, and an Android 6.0-or-newer companion phone, according to the Google Store specifications.
