Founder Oscar Chabrat frames the company’s purpose as honoring American history and craftsmanship. What makes the A-11 Type 44 different from a vintage A-11?
Praesidus presents the Type 44 as a contemporary re-edition inspired by WWII-era U.S. military A-11 watches. The company says it acquired and studied an original 1944 Waltham A-11 as a design reference, retaining vintage-influenced details such as an acrylic crystal and dial proportions while adding a 38 mm option alongside the smaller 32 mm size. That provenance and design account comes from Praesidus itself.

For the 38 mm model, the product page lists a 45 mm lug-to-lug length, 13 mm thickness and 20 mm lug width. Lug-to-lug length is particularly useful when assessing whether the watch will sit within the edges of your wrist. Those measurements are stated for the 38 mm product and should not be assumed to apply to the 32 mm version.
Movement and specifications depend on the generation
Current Type 44 product material identifies a Swiss-made Landeron L21 automatic movement. An older Praesidus project page instead describes a Swiss-made Soprod P024 manual-wind movement. These are different movement specifications, not details to combine into one unchanged model description. Check the live listing and confirm which generation or variant is being sold before comparing movements or buying.

The company describes its watches as assembled in the United States, while the Type 44 uses a Swiss-made movement. That does not establish that the watch or all of its components are wholly U.S.-made.

Current product information lists a stainless-steel case, double-domed acrylic crystal with anti-reflective coating, and 10 ATM water resistance. These are manufacturer-stated specifications; consider them alongside the exact model and your intended use rather than treating the rating as a substitute for checking care guidance.
