The key difference is their finish: the U5S-A pairs brushed stainless steel with cool-gray markers and hands, while the U5S-AN has black DLC-coated steel and glossy black markers and hands. UNIMATIC’s archive currently lists both as sold out.

The specifications are from UNIMATIC’s U5S-A and U5S-AN technical sheets. Both have the same stated dial and case design; the visual choice is principally between a steel-and-gray look and an all-black treatment.
Shared case, crystal and movement specifications
Each watch has a 36 mm 316 stainless-steel case measuring 11.05 mm thick, a 2.2 mm double-domed sapphire crystal with an inner anti-reflective coating, and 22 mm strap width. Both are specified with a Sellita SW200-1 b automatic movement, with 28,800 beats per hour, 26 jewels, hacking seconds and manual winding. UNIMATIC’s movement support page gives a minimum power reserve of 38 hours and a typical reserve of 41 hours, with accuracy listed at ±12 seconds per day: Sellita SW200-1 b specifications.
What the 300 m rating means—and the crown detail to observe
UNIMATIC specifies both models at 300 m / 1,000 ft / 30 atm and says each watch is individually tested for accuracy and water resistance. This is the maker’s stated rating, not an independent test result. The rating depends on the watch being correctly secured: UNIMATIC’s Modello Cinque guidance says that failure to screw the crown down compromises water resistance. Unscrew it before setting or winding, then screw it down again afterward. See the maker’s Modello Cinque support guidance.

Straps: 22 mm fit, supplied options and replacement checks
Both variants include a black tapered quick-release TPU strap and a separate black calf-leather strap. The U5S-A’s hardware is brushed stainless steel; the U5S-AN’s is black DLC. A replacement strap should be 22 mm at the lugs. Also check that its ends taper as desired, that its attachment system is compatible with the watch, that its length suits your wrist, and that its hardware finish works with the chosen case.
Availability and listed price
UNIMATIC’s Modello Cinque archive currently marks both U5S-A and U5S-AN sold out. The U5S-AN product page displayed €1,040 on October 7, 2026, alongside sold-out status. That listing does not establish a U5S-A price or the value of either watch on the resale market. UNIMATIC’s November 23, 2023 Modello 5 announcement introduces the model family and U5S-ML, but does not establish release dates for these two variants.
