The Praesidus Type H-75 is a 38 mm military-inspired chronograph with a Seiko Instruments VK64 meca-quartz movement, a 60-minute timing bezel and 10 ATM water resistance. Praesidus currently lists its four strap versions at $275; that is the displayed price, not a guaranteed transaction price. The available firsthand wear account is Jorg Weppelink’s November 2024 Fratello review, so the fit impressions below are attributed to him rather than presented as our own test.
What is the Praesidus Type H-75?
The Type H-75 is a modern Praesidus chronograph whose design inspiration Fratello identifies as the Leonidas CP-1, associated with Italian Air Force use in the 1960s and 1970s. That is the source’s account of the design lineage; it does not mean the modern H-75 was issued to military pilots, nor is it an independently verified archival history.
Fratello describes a black grained dial with Arabic numerals, two recessed registers and a peripheral minute track, paired with a unidirectional stainless-steel bezel carrying a black aluminum 60-minute insert. Two pump-style pushers and a large crown complete the case. These details describe the H-75’s styling and functions, not a claim that it exactly reproduces every feature of the historic watch.
Praesidus says it was founded in 2019 by Remi and Oscar Chabrat to revive historically inspired military watches, and that its watches are assembled at its Phoenix, Arizona headquarters. The company also says it donates 5 percent of sales proceeds for each military and tactical watch to a veteran, museum or related partner cause. Praesidus’s current product page lists the model as “TYPE H-75 Chronograph.” The official specifications below are from that page; the additional case and function details are attributed to Fratello’s review specification block and description.

The 24-hour register serves as an AM/PM indicator, according to Fratello. The watch has no small running-seconds subdial, so there is no continuously moving seconds display to show at a glance that the timekeeping is running.
What movement is in the Praesidus H-75?
The H-75 uses a Seiko Instruments VK64 meca-quartz movement, according to Fratello. In this hybrid arrangement, quartz handles ordinary timekeeping while a mechanical module operates the chronograph. When the chronograph is started, its central seconds hand sweeps rather than advancing in the one-second steps typical of a basic quartz seconds hand.

Fratello gives stated accuracy of less than ±20 seconds per month and battery life of about three years under normal use. These are published movement figures, not results of independent testing for this article. Fratello’s reviewer says the pushers start, stop and reset the chronograph with firm clicks.

How does the H-75 wear?
Fratello reviewer Jorg Weppelink says the 38 mm case fit his 18.5 cm wrist nicely. He wrote, “I had great fun wearing both options for a couple of days in between some heavy hitters.” His comments are personal impressions from his review, not a guarantee of fit on other wrists.
Brown leather
Weppelink found the brown leather strap sturdy and flexible, but rather long: he needed the second keeper to manage the tail. He also found its thick pin difficult to remove quickly.

Gray canvas
He liked the gray canvas strap’s appearance, but said it needed breaking in and was also very long, with the tail sticking out. Both reviewed straps therefore have a practical fit caveat for his wrist; strap length and comfort can vary from person to person.
Mainspring Watch Magazine separately reports wearing the watch well on its reviewer’s 16.5 cm wrist, and lists 38 mm diameter, 45.5 mm lug-to-lug, 11.8 mm thickness and 18 mm lug width. Its thickness figure differs from Fratello’s 11.5 mm. For the crystal, Praesidus and Fratello specify sapphire-coated mineral; Mainspring calls it acrylic, so the official and Fratello description is used here. Mainspring also reports a 120-click bezel, but Fratello does not state a click count and the brand page does not establish it, so that number should not be treated as brand-confirmed.
Strap options, price and warranty
Praesidus’s collection page currently displays four variants, each at $275: Black Canvas, Brown Leather, Light Gray Canvas and Sand Leather. Price and availability can change, so check the official H-75 collection page for the live listing. Fratello’s November 16, 2024 article cited US$245; that is a historical review price, not the current displayed listing. Fratello lists a two-year warranty.

The 18 mm strap width offers a useful compatibility starting point, but width alone does not establish whether a replacement strap will suit the watch: check its length, hardware and fit. Praesidus lists an H-75 manual on its watch manuals page; the manual’s contents are not assessed here.
Is the Praesidus Type H-75 worth it?
The H-75 is most compelling for someone who wants a compact, military-inspired chronograph with a meca-quartz movement, a functional 60-minute bezel and 10 ATM water resistance. Its stated movement accuracy and roughly three-year battery life may appeal to buyers who prefer quartz convenience but want a sweeping chronograph seconds hand. At the current displayed $275, the decision also depends on whether the design and strap options justify the price for you.
Before comparing it with another affordable military-style chronograph, check more than case diameter. Lug-to-lug length and thickness affect fit; movement type and battery expectations affect ownership; crystal, water resistance, chronograph and bezel functions distinguish the specifications; and strap length can matter as much as the stated 18 mm width. No competing model has been assessed closely enough here to support a comparative winner.
