A reliable review of the Rado HyperChrome Automatic Chronograph depends on the exact reference number. The available Rado product pages identify a three-hand automatic HyperChrome and a separate quartz chronograph—not the automatic chronograph named in this title. Their specifications cannot safely be applied to an unidentified watch. Check the reference on the case, warranty card, seller listing, or an official Rado page before judging its movement, dimensions, water resistance, price, or value.
Which Rado HyperChrome is this?
“HyperChrome” covers watches with materially different movements and functions. Two official Rado listings illustrate why the reference matters:
| Reference | Movement and functions | Listed configuration |
|---|---|---|
| R32252162 (Rado US product page; Rado international product page) | Automatic caliber R763; three hands, not a chronograph | 42.0 mm diameter, 10.2 mm thick, 128 g; black dial, high-tech ceramic bracelet, transparent sapphire caseback, titanium three-fold clasp |
| R32259203 (Rado US product page) | Quartz caliber R312; date and chronograph functions | 44.9 mm diameter, 11.7 mm thick, 167 g; stainless-steel case, ceramic bezel, blue dial |
The retailer result for a “Hyperchrome Automatic Chronograph 45mm” does not provide a reference number. That name alone is not enough to establish the movement or confirm that a specific listing matches the watch under review. In particular, do not mistake R32252162 for an automatic chronograph: it is a three-hand automatic. Nor is R32259203 an automatic: it is a quartz chronograph.
What the verified specifications say—and what they do not
R32252162: an automatic, but not a chronograph
For R32252162, Rado lists caliber R763, an 80-hour power reserve, movement testing in five positions, and a Nivachron hairspring described as antimagnetic. Those details belong to this three-hand reference. Rado’s product description says the movement is “powered by the movements of the wearer”; that is the brand’s characterization, not an independent performance finding.

R32259203: a chronograph, but quartz
Rado lists R32259203 with quartz caliber R312, a date, and chronograph functions. Its dimensions and materials are also specific to that configuration; they do not establish the size, weight, or construction of the unconfirmed automatic chronograph.
Why a historical press kit is not enough
A 2020 Rado press kit describes a particular HyperChrome Automatic configuration with an ETA C07 automatic movement, up to 80 hours of power reserve, and 5 bar (50 m) water resistance. These are historical, configuration-specific figures, not verified specifications for the title’s unidentified chronograph or for R32252162. Without an exact reference match, they should not be used to characterize the watch.

How to verify the watch before buying or reviewing it
- Find the reference. Check the case, warranty card, or seller’s full product listing. Ask the seller for a clear image or confirmation if the number is missing.
- Match it to an official Rado page. Confirm that the reference describes an automatic chronograph, not a three-hand automatic or quartz chronograph.
- Verify the configuration. Check the listed dial, case and bracelet materials, dimensions, weight, caliber, chronograph/date functions, and water-resistance rating against the actual watch.
- Check local price and availability. Use Rado or an authorized local retailer, and confirm the price and stock for that reference in your market at the time of purchase.
- Confirm warranty and service details. Ask the seller or Rado what warranty applies to that reference and where it can be serviced in your region.
This is especially important for online listings: a product title that combines “automatic,” “chronograph,” and “45mm” is not a substitute for a matching reference and movement specification.
Price and availability depend on reference and market
Rado’s US listing for three-hand automatic R32252162 showed $3,200 and “Out of stock” when indexed; its international listing showed CHF 2,700. These are region- and time-specific figures for that reference, not a verified price or current availability statement for the automatic chronograph. The official quartz chronograph page likewise identifies a different watch, so its pricing or availability would not settle the title model’s status.

Accuracy, water resistance, and operation
Rado’s 2024 English user manual says, as a general statement, “The average deviation of a Rado automatic watch should not exceed 0 to +20 seconds per day.” This is not a measured result for the unidentified watch, and the manual’s general guidance should be checked against the exact model and movement.
The same manual instructs: “Do not use either the crown or chronograph pushers underwater.” This is an operating caution, not a water-resistance rating. Check the exact reference’s published rating and follow its manual; do not infer that the watch is suitable for swimming or diving from the instruction alone.

Verdict: the reference number is essential
The available evidence establishes two distinct HyperChrome alternatives: an automatic three-hand watch and a quartz chronograph. It does not establish the specifications, price, or wear experience of the exact Rado HyperChrome Automatic Chronograph named here. Treat any listing as unverified until its reference confirms both an automatic movement and chronograph function; only then can its dimensions, materials, water resistance, warranty, and local price be reviewed accurately.
