The “nearly 50% off” Ray-Ban Meta deal was a Black Friday 2024 promotion, not a current offer: a selected first-generation Wayfarer configuration dropped from about $329 to $263, and buyers who qualified for and fully used a separate $90 Amazon promotional credit could count a total nominal benefit of $156. That is about 47.4% of $329—but the glasses still cost about $263 at checkout. The historic offer and code WAYFARER90 should not be treated as active today.
How the nearly-50%-off calculation worked
The headline combined two different kinds of value: an immediate price cut and retailer credit. The deal record for Black Friday 2024 describes a selected $329 configuration discounted to about $263, plus a $90 Amazon promotional credit after applying WAYFARER90. The practical distinction is simple: the glasses were about 20% off at checkout. The larger figure only made sense to a shopper who could use the credit for eligible purchases before any applicable expiration.
Where the historical offer applied—and what it did not cover
The extra credit was associated with Amazon’s promotion, not a universal Ray-Ban price. Ray-Ban’s U.S. sale was separately reported at about 20% off selected styles; November 2024 coverage cited basic configurations falling from $299 to $239. Tom’s Guide’s November 2024 deals archive also describes configuration-specific pricing, including roughly $263 for some $329 models and about $303 for some Transitions versions.

- Amazon: Historical reporting tied the $90 credit and code to selected Wayfarer configurations. A code or credit could be limited by model, color, inventory, or terms.
- Ray-Ban direct: Selected U.S. styles were reported at around 20% off, without the same Amazon credit being part of that offer. See Ray-Ban’s U.S. store for current listings, not as proof the 2024 sale remains available.
- Other retailers: A historical roundup reported a similar discount plus a Target gift card, but that does not establish that every configuration qualified or that the offer remains available: the 2024 Black Friday roundup.
Prices were not interchangeable across frame shapes, fits, colors, lens treatments, or generations. Clear or standard lenses tended to sit at lower price points than polarized or Transitions lenses. Prescription models followed a separate purchase path and were not necessarily eligible for an Amazon configuration or promotion. UK prices were reported separately in pounds; they should not be read as U.S. prices or converted into a U.S. deal claim.
Which glasses the deal referred to
The promotion was principally associated with first-generation Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarers. Do not confuse those with the newer Gen 2 Wayfarers now listed by Ray-Ban. Current official U.S. pages cited for Gen 2 show particular configurations at $379 and $459, depending on frame and lens selection; those are current product examples, not directly comparable prices for the 2024 Gen 1 deal. The 2024 reporting also cited about $239 for selected $299 configurations, $263 for a $329 configuration, and about $303 for some Transitions configurations. These are historical examples, not a promise that every lens or frame had the same markdown. What Ray-Ban Meta glasses do
These glasses combine ordinary-looking eyewear with a camera, open-ear audio, microphones, and phone-connected software. The relevant generation was reported with a 12-megapixel camera; features and availability can depend on the model, software, region, and account. Credit is not the same as a lower purchase price
The $90 credit only improved the deal to the extent that a buyer qualified for it and could use it on something they would otherwise have bought. Check whether a promotion is attached to the exact item, whether a separate redemption step is required, what purchases qualify, and when the value expires. If the credit would go unused, the relevant savings were the roughly $66 price reduction—not $156.

Lens and prescription fit can change the value
Confirm the exact frame, fit, lens type, and prescription route before comparing prices. A discounted standard-lens pair is not an apples-to-apples comparison with a polarized or Transitions configuration. Ray-Ban’s cited prescription document gives a range of −6.00 to +4.00 total power, but availability and eligibility depend on region and provider: Ray-Ban prescription data. Check the seller’s prescription support and warranty terms rather than assuming a marketplace listing can accommodate the same lenses.
Battery, phone dependence, and privacy are real trade-offs
- Camera, AI, audio, and livestreaming use affect battery runtime; actual battery life varies with use and conditions.
- The experience depends on a compatible phone, app, account, connectivity, and supported software features.
- Open-ear audio is convenient but is neither private nor as immersive as sealed headphones.
- A camera worn on the face may make bystanders uncomfortable. A recording indicator is not a substitute for asking permission or respecting settings where recording is unwelcome.
Check generation, seller, and terms
When comparing a remaining Gen 1 deal with a Gen 2 product, compare the features and exact lens configuration you want rather than paying more simply because one is newer. For any live listing, verify the generation, who sells and fulfills it, return and warranty coverage, and whether the displayed promotion applies to that particular configuration. Discounted colors and lens choices can sell out separately. The original 2024 code should not be assumed to work now.

Who the deal made sense for
The promotion was most compelling for someone who already wanted camera-enabled sunglasses and hands-free audio, preferred conventional eyewear to a screen-based AR device, and could use the Amazon credit. It was less compelling if the main draw was the “half-off” headline, if the credit had little value to you, or if the particular frame, lens, or prescription needs were not covered.
As of October 8, 2026, the documented offer is historical Black Friday 2024 coverage, not a live promotion. A new listing or sale would need to be checked on its own terms; the old price and code are not evidence of current availability.
