The Raymond Weil Freelancer Skeleton is an automatic watch built around an openworked dial that exposes parts of its RW1212 movement, including a balance wheel positioned at 6 o’clock on the version described at launch. The collection now spans several case sizes and designs, so details such as dimensions, finish, stock and price need to be checked against the exact reference and market.
What does the openworked dial show?
Raymond Weil presents the Freelancer Skeleton as a self-winding watch whose openworked dial reveals the RW1212 movement. In its March 22, 2018 launch announcement, the brand described a two-hand display for hours and minutes, with the balance wheel visible at 6 o’clock. That launch model was specified at 28,800 vibrations per hour and a 38-hour power reserve. Raymond Weil said the RW1212 was developed in collaboration with Sellita. These are launch specifications, not a complete specification sheet for every later reference. Raymond Weil’s launch announcement
The two-hand layout leaves out a seconds hand. WatchTime’s account of reference 2783-ST-50000 also notes a visible mainspring in the openworked mainspring barrel, which the reviewer says can offer a visual clue to winding state. That is an observation about what can be seen through this design, not a calibrated power-reserve indicator. WatchTime’s review
Which sizes and references are available?
Raymond Weil’s US collection page showed six Freelancer RW1212 listings when accessed on October 7, 2026. The page includes 38 mm, 40 mm, 42 mm and 40 × 40 mm case-size options. The latter is a square case measurement, not another round-case diameter. The assortment and stock status can change; use the exact reference on the product page to verify what is currently offered. The sizes and displayed collection prices above are observations from Raymond Weil’s US page accessed October 7, 2026; they are not a guarantee that every variant remains available. The 2785-SC5-20001 specifications, price and stock status come from a Tourneau/Bucherer listing, which showed it out of stock when accessed. Tourneau/Bucherer listing for reference 2785-SC5-20001
How should you compare the variants?
Case size and wrist fit
The range runs from 38 mm to 42 mm for round cases, alongside the 40 × 40 mm square option. Diameter alone does not determine how a watch wears: lug-to-lug length and case shape also affect wrist fit, and those measurements are not established here. If fit matters, try the exact model or obtain its lug-to-lug measurement from a reliable listing before buying.

- Visible Balance Wheel: Admire the technical artistry behind the Freelancer Skeleton RW1212. The skeletonized dial offers a mesmerizing view of the balance wheel in motion, showcasing the watch's exceptional engineering.
- Sophisticated Style and Everyday Functionality: The aged, brown leather strap complements the bronze bezel for a timeless look. The 42mm stainless steel case ensures durability, while the sapphire crystal with anti-glare treatment provides clarity in any lighting condition.
- 100 Meters Water Resistant: Built for everyday wear, the Freelancer Skeleton RW1212 boasts water resistance up to 100 meters, making it suitable for withstanding splashes, rain, or brief accidental submersion.
- Swiss Made Quality: Experience the precision and reliability synonymous with Swiss-made watches. The Raymond Weil Freelancer Skeleton RW1212 is a testament to exceptional craftsmanship.
Finish and dial appearance
The sourced examples include steel, steel with rose gold, and black PVD-coated steel. These finishes are not necessarily all part of the current collection. On the 38 mm 2783-ST-50000, WatchTime describes polished and brushed steel paired with dark-finished bridges and a blue chapter ring. Its assessment of the design is subjective: the reviewer calls the skeletonized weight subtle, praises the bracelet as well made, comfortable and substantial, and says its design evokes a Rolex Jubilee bracelet. The reviewer would prefer a leather strap. WatchTime’s review of reference 2783-ST-50000
Reserve and ownership expectations
The 38-hour reserve appears in Raymond Weil’s 2018 launch specifications and in the Tourneau/Bucherer details for reference 2785-SC5-20001. Check the exact reference rather than assuming every later variant shares a complete specification set. WatchTime characterizes 38 hours as modest for a modern movement; that is the reviewer’s judgment, not a measurement of a different reserve.

What does it cost, and where can you check stock?
For the US market, Raymond Weil’s collection page displayed variant prices from $3,795 to $4,175 when accessed October 7, 2026. Those are page prices for listed variants, not a global price range or a promise of inventory. Some collection listings were marked out of stock or sold out. The separate Tourneau/Bucherer page for 2785-SC5-20001 displayed $2,495 and an out-of-stock notice when accessed; that isolated older-reference listing should not be treated as its current market value. WatchTime’s quoted $3,325 price is also historical and is not a current price source.
Before purchasing, match the listing to the exact reference and confirm the seller’s location, condition, included bracelet or strap, warranty and return terms.
