What is the Excalibur Spider Flyback Chronograph?
It is Roger Dubuis’s sporty Excalibur chronograph family, with design cues the manufacturer associates with Lamborghini Squadra Corse and the Le Mans Daytona Hybrid. That connection is the brand’s design framing, not evidence that the watch shares engineering with a racing car. The specifications below describe reference RDDBEX1102 unless noted otherwise.
Roger Dubuis’s RDDBEX1102 product page calls it an integrated chronograph with a column wheel and vertical coupling clutch, and states: “The chronograph has a flyback function.” These are manufacturer descriptions, not independent test findings.

How the flyback chronograph and minute display work
Flyback operation
A flyback chronograph allows a running chronograph to be reset and restarted in one operation, rather than stopped, reset, and started as separate actions. Roger Dubuis identifies this function on RDDBEX1102. The product page also describes the movement as having a column wheel and vertical coupling clutch, but does not establish how the watch performs under independent testing.
The 120° Rotating Minute Counter
At 3 o’clock, the 120° Rotating Minute Counter (RMC) is the watch’s distinctive elapsed-minute display. The manufacturer says the counter rotates to show elapsed minutes and identifies a patent associated with the minute-counter display. It also describes a separate patent tied to the chronograph seconds hand and a Second Braking System (SBS) intended to add stability to that hand. Those are brand-stated technical features; they should not be mistaken for reported test results.

What varies across the family?
Do not assume every Excalibur Spider Flyback Chronograph has RDDBEX1102’s carbon case, green accents, or specifications. Roger Dubuis lists other references, including RDDBEX1046 and regional pages for RDBEX1138 and RDBEX1186. The latter references illustrate different presentations, including pink gold and a Pirelli Mexico Edition. Check the exact reference before comparing case material, size, dial and strap configuration, movement display, or stated water resistance.
For example, the official pages for RDDBEX1046, RDBEX1138, and RDBEX1186 establish that other family versions exist; their details should not be blended into RDDBEX1102’s specification.

What to verify before considering a specific watch
- Read the reference number from the watch documentation or a reliable listing, then match it to the corresponding manufacturer page.
- Confirm case material, dimensions, dial and strap configuration against that reference rather than the family name alone.
- For RDDBEX1102, verify the black rubber strap with green inlay and QRS specifically; the available information does not establish compatibility with generic replacement straps.
