Limited to 28 pieces, it revisits the Hommage collection’s roots while placing the tribute, this time, closer to Roger Dubuis himself.
Why the Hommage La Placide is a return to the collection’s roots
Roger Dubuis says the Hommage collection began in 1996 as a tribute to the watchmaking masters and friends who shaped its founder’s vision. The new model takes a more personal turn: according to the Maison, “La Placide” was Dubuis’s childhood nickname, retained throughout his life and associated with calm strength and quiet wisdom. It marks the brand’s 30th anniversary and is limited to 28 watches. Roger Dubuis’s product page gives the manufacturer’s account of the collection and name; the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie also lists the model.
The design is a deliberate contrast with the more assertive shapes often associated with contemporary Roger Dubuis watches. In his 28 November 2025 article, Monochrome Watches’ Brice Goulard describes the watch as reviving the early, classic round Hommage spirit. That is an editorial reading of the design, rather than a manufacturer specification.
The bi-retrograde perpetual calendar is the central idea
The watch’s defining display is its perpetual calendar, which indicates the day, date, month, leap year and moon phase. Day and date are shown with the signature bi-retrograde arrangement: each hand travels across an arc, then returns to the beginning of its scale when its cycle ends. Unlike a hand that makes a full rotation, a retrograde hand moves back to zero after reaching the end of its track.

The architecture connects the watch to Roger Dubuis’s earlier work. Monochrome’s Goulard traces Dubuis’s career from restoration and repair to developing perpetual-calendar modules with Jean-Marc Wiederrecht. His account says the pair developed a double-retrograde perpetual-calendar module that was fitted to a Harry Winston watch in 1989. The official product description says the RD72 module is based on a perpetual calendar and that many of its original components were remanufactured for this edition according to the 1989 patent co-signed by Dubuis and Wiederrecht. These historical details come from the respective sources’ accounts.
How the RD1472 movement is built
The automatic RD1472 combines two previously developed elements: the RD14 automatic base calibre and the RD72 calendar module. Roger Dubuis says this is only the second time the two have been combined since the Maison’s creation. According to the brand, the RD14 debuted in 2004 as its first in-house automatic movement, while the RD72 module was introduced in 1999.

The manufacturer names bevelling, circular graining, Côtes de Genève, mirror polish, perlage and burnishing among the finishes. It also says the calibre has been reimagined to meet current Poinçon de Genève standards. That is the Maison’s statement about the movement; it should not be read as an independent audit of its certification.
Case, dial and practical wear details
The case is 38 mm across, crafted in 18K pink gold, and rated to 30 m (3 bar) water resistance in the official specifications. Monochrome reports a thickness of 11 mm. The 30 m rating is a specification, not a recommendation for swimming.

The blue multilayer dial balances several materials and finishes: a rhodium-plated brushed flange, mother-of-pearl calendar segments and counters, a lacquered main plate, and an aventurine moon-phase disc with 18K yellow-gold moons. The watch is supplied on a blue calf-leather strap with an interchangeable triple-folding pink-gold buckle.
Monochrome characterizes the watch as compact and restrained, and offers an editorial impression of how it wears. The published specifications do not establish lug width, strap length or replacement-strap compatibility, so those details should be confirmed with the Maison or an authorized retailer before sourcing a strap.

Edition and reported launch-era price
The edition is limited to 28 pieces. Monochrome Watches reported a price of EUR 115,000 before taxes, or EUR 138,000 including 20% VAT, in its article dated 28 November 2025. The Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie listing shows EUR 115,000 without specifying tax treatment. These are published price references, not confirmation of a current retail offer, present availability in a particular market or secondary-market value.
A personal tribute, expressed through a technical signature
La Placide’s backstory and its movement point in the same direction: the name looks back to the founder, while the revived bi-retrograde calendar recalls an early chapter in his technical work. The restrained case and dial give that mechanism room to lead. The message printed on the case back, reproduced by Roger Dubuis, captures the intended relationship between past and present: “This is a watch of today, inspired but not restricted to the past, projected into a future that belongs to us.”
