“Rainbow Daytona” and “Rolex Daytona Rainbow” are common descriptive names for the colored sapphire setting; the formal model name is Cosmograph Daytona. The rainbow effect comes from the bezel and dial markers, rather than a multicolored dial.
How are the gems arranged?
- Bezel: Rolex specifies 36 baguette-cut sapphires set in 18 ct Everose gold and arranged in a rainbow gradation.

Caliber 4130 and chronograph functions
The watch is powered by Rolex manufacture caliber 4130, a mechanical chronograph movement with a column wheel and vertical clutch. A Perpetual rotor winds it bidirectionally. Rolex gives an approximate 72-hour power reserve, a frequency of 28,800 beats per hour (4 Hz), and precision of −2/+2 seconds per day after casing.
- The central chronograph seconds hand measures to within one-eighth of a second.
- A 30-minute counter sits at 3 o’clock.
- A 12-hour counter sits at 9 o’clock.
Rolex explains the Daytona tachymeter scale as a way to read average speed over a given distance from elapsed time. It is a scale on the bezel; it does not turn the watch into a speed-measuring instrument independent of the wearer’s timing and calculation.

What did the Rainbow Daytona cost, and what is known now?
Monochrome Watches reported a launch-era price of CHF 92,400 in 2018. That is a publication’s historical price report, not a current Rolex retail price or a current valuation. Monochrome Watches’ 2018 coverage is the source for that figure.
The available sources do not establish whether Rolex currently offers this exact reference, whether a dealer has one in stock, or what a buyer would pay today. Current retail status and market value should therefore be checked against dated, specific information rather than inferred from the launch figure or general descriptions. An auction result or asking price only describes that particular watch and transaction context, including its date, currency, geography and condition.

Sotheby’s places the 116595RBOW among modern Daytona variants with colored gemstone bezels. Phillips describes it as an Everose model released in 2018 and comments on its gemstone setting. Those are useful collector and auction-house perspectives, but they do not establish production quantity, a complete production run or a definitive scarcity ranking.
