Rolex GMT-Master II Black-and-Grey Rolesor vs. Steel: 126713GRNR and 126710GRNR Compared

The 126713GRNR pairs Oystersteel with yellow gold, while the 126710GRNR is all Oystersteel. Rolex’s cited brochures show the same core GMT-Master II specifications, with an important suffix-specific bracelet caveat for the steel version.

The steel Rolex GMT-Master II with a black-and-grey bezel is reference 126710GRNR; its yellow Rolesor counterpart is 126713GRNR. In Rolex’s brochures, both share a 40 mm case, black dial, grey-and-black Cerachrom bezel, calibre 3285, approximately 70-hour power reserve, stated precision of −2/+2 seconds per day after casing, and 100 m water resistance. The main distinction is the material: Oystersteel on the steel model, versus Oystersteel combined with yellow gold on the Rolesor model.

What differs between the two black-and-grey GMT-Master II models?

Rolesor is Rolex’s name for a watch combining steel and gold. On the 126713GRNR, the case and Jubilee bracelet combine Oystersteel and yellow gold; the 126710GRNR uses Oystersteel. The cited brochures describe the shared watch specifications as follows:

Specification Steel: 126710GRNR Yellow Rolesor: 126713GRNR
Case material Oystersteel Oystersteel and yellow gold (Yellow Rolesor)
Case diameter 40 mm 40 mm
Dial and bezel Black dial; grey-and-black Cerachrom bezel insert Black dial; grey-and-black Cerachrom bezel insert
Movement Self-winding calibre 3285 with GMT function Self-winding calibre 3285 with GMT function
Power reserve Approximately 70 hours Approximately 70 hours
Stated precision −2/+2 seconds per day after casing −2/+2 seconds per day after casing
Water resistance 100 m / 330 ft 100 m / 330 ft
Bracelet in cited brochure Oystersteel Jubilee, five-piece links; reference suffix -0003 Yellow Rolesor Jubilee, five-piece links
Clasp in cited brochure Oysterlock safety clasp with Easylink 5 mm comfort extension Oysterlock safety clasp with Easylink 5 mm comfort extension

These are manufacturer specifications in Rolex’s brochures, not results from an independent comparative test. The precision figure is stated for the watch after casing; it should not be read as a guarantee of identical real-world timekeeping in every watch or circumstance. Rolex presents the Rolesor combination as steel and gold; its promotional description of the metals is brand language, not independent evidence that one version performs better.

How does the GMT function work?

Both references use the same basic two-time-zone arrangement. The arrow-tipped 24-hour hand makes one circuit of the dial per day and indicates home or reference time against the bezel’s 24-hour graduations. The bezel can be rotated in either direction. Rolex says the local hour hand can be adjusted independently, forwards or backwards, without moving the minute and seconds hands.

In practical terms, a traveller can leave the 24-hour hand set to a home time zone and move the local hour hand to the current local time. The bezel’s graduations provide the scale for reading the second time zone. The black-and-grey bezel is shared by the two watches; it does not distinguish the GMT function between them.

Which one should you choose?

Choose the steel 126710GRNR if

  • You want an all-Oystersteel case and bracelet rather than a steel-and-yellow-gold combination.
  • You prefer the less visibly two-tone material treatment while keeping the same dial, bezel colors, and cited movement specifications.

Choose the Yellow Rolesor 126713GRNR if

  • You want yellow gold paired with Oystersteel on the case and Jubilee bracelet.
  • You prefer the contrast of a two-tone finish; the black dial and grey-and-black bezel remain the same as on the steel version.

Those distinctions describe materials and appearance, not a supported ranking of durability, accuracy, or value. The cited brochures do not establish a price comparison, market availability, wait time, or resale performance, so none can be used here to declare a financial winner.

Check the exact reference and bracelet configuration

Configuration matters when identifying or comparing a specific watch. The accessible steel brochure is for reference 126710GRNR version -0003 and specifies a Jubilee bracelet. Rolex search also surfaced a -0004 steel brochure, but that PDF was not accessible; its indexed description confirms a black dial and grey-and-black bezel, not the full technical or bracelet configuration. Do not assume bracelet details apply to every suffix. Confirm the complete reference and bracelet on the current official Rolex listing or the exact watch being considered.

The Rolesor brochure cited here is for reference 126713GRNR version -0001 and specifies a Yellow Rolesor Jubilee bracelet. Rolex’s brochures identify these models and configurations but do not establish current prices or stock in any particular market.
