The Sablier Grand Cru stands out for its concave sapphire crystal and dial, with curved hands that follow the unusual shape. Current official listings for the 44 mm Grand Cru II Noir and Grand Cru III Emerald pair that design with an ETA 2892-A2 automatic movement, date display and 50 m water resistance. At listed prices of $2,795 and $2,995, respectively, the appeal is chiefly distinctive design; the available independent reviews concern older Grand Cru examples, not current tests of these two models.
What makes the Sablier Grand Cru distinctive?
The watch’s defining feature is its inward-curving sapphire crystal and matching concave dial. The curved minute hand and corkscrew-shaped seconds hand echo that profile, while the polished 316L stainless-steel case is milled from a single piece and shaped with a wine glass as its inspiration. The Grand Cru II and III also have a screw-down crown and display case back, according to Sablier.
Sablier calls its design the “World’s first and only concave crystal.” That is the maker’s claim, not an independently established comparison with every other watch.
Grand Cru II Noir vs. Grand Cru III Emerald
The official listings describe two 44 mm versions with the same core movement and case dimensions. Their principal listed differences are dial treatment, strap color and price. How large does the Grand Cru wear?
Both current listings specify a 44 mm diameter and 12 mm case height, with a 22 mm lug width. Those numbers make this a broad watch on paper; diameter alone does not establish how it will fit a particular wrist. The current product details cited here do not give a lug-to-lug measurement, so it is worth seeking that dimension or trying the watch on if wrist coverage is a concern.

For historical context only, WatchReport’s review of the original Grand Cru, published September 19, 2015, lists a 50 mm lug-to-lug length and 13 mm thickness. Those are measurements of the reviewed older model, not confirmed specifications for the current II and III. The reviewer discussed comfort and legibility, but those impressions should not be treated as a fit test of the current models. Read the WatchReport review.
What movement does it use?
Sablier lists a Swiss-made ETA 2892-A2 automatic movement with date for both the Grand Cru II Noir and Grand Cru III Emerald. This is the movement specification on the current cited product pages. The original Generation I listing says Swiss automatic movement but does not identify a caliber, so the later ETA specification should not be assumed for every Grand Cru generation.

What do independent reviews say?
Two older reviews offer useful impressions of the design, but neither establishes current-model accuracy, durability or long-term service performance. Beans & Bezels reviewed a 44 mm Grand Cru, describing the concave crystal and dial and discussing fit on the reviewer’s 6.25-inch wrist, legibility and lume. The author disclosed that Sablier supplied the watch and said they were not incentivized to make the review. These are the reviewer’s observations of that review sample, not a current independent evaluation of the II or III. Read the Beans & Bezels review.
That reviewer reported approximately +4 seconds per day over three days for the reviewed watch. It is a short observation of one older sample, not a measured accuracy claim for current production. The available material does not establish a current independent accuracy or durability test of the Grand Cru II or III.

Is the Sablier Grand Cru worth its listed price?
At the official listed prices of $2,795 for the II Noir and $2,995 for the III Emerald, the strongest reason to consider the Grand Cru is its unusual concave construction and wine-glass-inspired design. The cited listings provide a clear movement and core specification set, but the available independent impressions are historical and do not answer how current examples perform over time. Whether that design warrants the premium is therefore a matter of how much the distinctive shape matters to you; the sources cited here do not support a comparative value verdict against other watches.
The original Grand Cru Generation I page lists a 44 mm stainless-steel model with sapphire crystal, 5 ATM water resistance, Swiss automatic movement, leather strap and a listed price of $2,100. That is the figure on the official page, not a current II or III price, and the excerpt does not identify its caliber. See the Generation I listing.

Strap fit and purchase checks
The current II and III listings specify 22 mm lugs and quick-release leather straps. A 22 mm quick-release strap is a plausible replacement category, but the exact fit and release-pin compatibility should be confirmed for the specific watch before buying an alternative.
