Updated August 18, 2026: Samsung has since made the Galaxy Buds4 Pro official. The images discovered on February 13 in a leaked One UI 9.0 build offered an early look at the redesigned earbuds, but they were not Samsung’s own announcement and may not have been entirely new renders.
The Galaxy Buds4 Pro was officially unveiled on February 25, 2026, and became generally available on March 11. Samsung lists the U.S. launch price at $249.99.

What leaked in One UI 9?
SamMobile reported finding additional Galaxy Buds4 Pro product images inside the Galaxy Wearable app included with a leaked One UI 9.0 test build associated with the Galaxy Z Fold7. The assets showed both the earbuds and their charging case.

However, it was still leaked material—not a Samsung press image, retail photograph, or formal specification sheet. Pre-release app assets can include placeholders, unfinished artwork, or visuals that do not perfectly represent final hardware.

How “new” were the images?
The images were newly discovered in leaked software, but that does not necessarily mean they showed a previously unseen design. Android Authority later updated its report to say that the images appeared to repeat designs shown in earlier Galaxy Buds4 leaks.
The most accurate description is therefore: newly uncovered images of a design that had already appeared in earlier reporting. They added evidence to the existing leak story rather than proving an entirely new Buds4 Pro design. See Android Authority’s report and update.
What the images appeared to show
- A redesigned earbud shape with Samsung’s new stem-style “blade” approach.
- A charging case with a more premium, visually distinctive treatment, including the clearer or more transparent appearance seen in pre-launch promotional imagery.
- A form factor visually separate from the Galaxy Buds2 Pro generation.
- Silicone ear tips on the Pro model, suggesting a sealed in-ear fit rather than the more open-fit approach associated with the standard Galaxy Buds4.
- A prominent control area on the blade, later associated with pinch-based interaction.
These visuals suggested Samsung was pursuing a more futuristic, metal-accented design. They could not, by themselves, establish comfort, durability, battery life, audio quality, ANC performance, or final pricing.

What Samsung eventually confirmed
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Buds4 series on February 25, 2026. The company began general availability on March 11, with the Galaxy Buds4 Pro priced at $249.99 in the United States. The standard Galaxy Buds4 launched at $179.99.
The final product broadly validated the leaked design direction. Samsung describes the Buds4 Pro as using a redesigned metal-blade construction and an engraved pinch-control area, along with a redesigned fit and charging case. That confirms the broad visual story, but it does not mean every detail in the leaked artwork was necessarily final.

Finding the images in a One UI 9.0 build does not prove that the retail earbuds require One UI 9. Samsung’s released-product materials instead highlight integration with One UI 8.5, and Samsung’s feature-compatibility document says that certain functions, including head gestures, require compatible Galaxy devices running One UI 8.5 or newer.
Compatibility is more limited than the phrase “works with Android” might suggest:

- Samsung Galaxy phones generally receive the broadest set of controls and ecosystem features.
- Other Android phones can use the Galaxy Wearable app for supported controls, but may not receive every Samsung-specific feature.
- iPhones, PCs, game consoles, and other generic Bluetooth devices can connect for basic audio where supported, but features such as Samsung Seamless Codec, head gestures, certain AI integrations, and advanced device settings may be unavailable.
Samsung’s U.S. product page says ANC-mode adjustment through device settings requires a Galaxy device running One UI 8.0 or later, while non-Samsung Android users rely on the Galaxy Wearable app. The exact feature restrictions vary by device and software version; Samsung’s compatibility document provides the more detailed breakdown.

The standard Galaxy Buds4 is the lower-priced choice at $179.99 in the U.S. and is the better fit for buyers who prefer an open-fit design or do not need the Pro model’s in-ear isolation and more advanced speaker system.

The Buds4 Pro is aimed at listeners who want silicone tips, stronger passive isolation, a two-way speaker design, enhanced ANC, Adaptive EQ, and Samsung’s premium audio features. The $70 price difference is easier to justify for Galaxy owners who can use those features; it is harder to justify for people using an iPhone, console, PC, or non-Samsung Android phone.

Should Galaxy Buds3 Pro owners upgrade?
The leaked images alone were not enough to recommend an upgrade. Now that the product is official, the decision depends on priorities:
- Consider upgrading if you want the redesigned fit, the metal-blade controls, two-way audio, Samsung’s newer ANC and Adaptive EQ features, or compatible head-gesture integrations.
- Keep the Buds3 Pro if its sound, fit, ANC, and controls already satisfy you and the new features do not justify a $249.99 purchase.
- Wait for a lower price if you are interested but price-sensitive. Samsung’s current purchase price and any promotion can change by market and date, so verify the live listing before buying.
Fit is also a personal variable. Samsung’s redesigned shape may suit some ears better than the previous generation, but leaked images and manufacturer claims cannot establish universal comfort. Independent testing is needed to determine how much better the ANC, microphones, and battery performance are in practice.
The bottom line on the One UI 9 leak
The February 13 leak was meaningful because Galaxy Wearable assets in a leaked One UI 9.0 build provided another look at Samsung’s upcoming earbuds. But “fresh” described their discovery, not necessarily a brand-new design. Follow-up reporting indicated that at least some of the images repeated earlier renders.
Samsung’s February 25 announcement and March 11 release later confirmed the broad design direction, including the blade-style construction, pinch controls, Pro in-ear fit, and redesigned case. For current buying decisions, however, the leak is historical context. Use Samsung’s official specifications and compatibility information—not leaked images—to judge the Galaxy Buds4 Pro.
