Samsung has not announced a release date, price, design or final specifications. The strongest current reports point to an early 2027 announcement, potentially alongside the Galaxy S27 family, with better battery life, more accurate health tracking and expanded Samsung Health features among the leading possibilities.
That makes the buying decision straightforward: buy the current Galaxy Ring if you need discreet Samsung health tracking now and can find it at a good price; wait if longer battery life, possible iPhone support or improved health insights matter more than having a ring immediately.

|---|---|---|
| Is it real? | Samsung has confirmed that it is working on a next-generation smart ring. | High |
| Is the name confirmed? | No. “Galaxy Ring 2” is a media shorthand, not a confirmed retail name. | High |
| Release date | Early 2027 is the leading current report; Samsung has announced no date. | Medium |
| US price | About $399.99 is a reasonable estimate based on the current model, not a leak. | Low |

| iPhone support | Possible, but not confirmed. | Low/medium |
| Blood-glucose monitoring | Mentioned in speculation, with no reliable confirmation. | Low |
Samsung’s executive confirmation establishes that development work exists. It does not confirm that every reported feature will reach the final product, or even that Samsung will launch it as “Galaxy Ring 2.”

There is no official Galaxy Ring 2 release date, preorder date or shipping schedule. Current reporting has moved away from a 2026 launch and now points to an early 2027 reveal. Some reports suggest Samsung could introduce the ring at a winter Galaxy Unpacked event with the Galaxy S27 range, but that connection is not confirmed.

The timing is plausible because the first Galaxy Ring launched in 2024, while Samsung did not introduce a successor at the relevant 2025 events. Reports published in May 2026 said a 2026 release was highly unlikely, leaving early 2027 as the leading window. See the reporting from 9to5Google and Android Central.
“Samsung delayed Galaxy Ring 2” is too definitive. Samsung has not announced a delay or explained the schedule. A public announcement, preorder period and retail availability would also be separate milestones, and regional launch dates could differ.
Could an Oura patent dispute be involved?
Some coverage has linked the uncertain timing to an alleged patent dispute involving Oura. That should be treated only as a reported possibility. Samsung has not publicly said that the dispute is responsible for the timing, and there is no basis to claim that Samsung is legally prevented from launching a successor. Tom’s Guide discusses the reported connection.

Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Galaxy Ring 2 price: how much might it cost?
Samsung has not disclosed Galaxy Ring 2 pricing. The most defensible estimate is a starting price near the current US Galaxy Ring’s $399.99. That is an inference from Samsung’s existing pricing strategy, not leaked MSRP information. The current product is listed on Samsung’s official US product page.
A similar price is the most plausible scenario if Samsung wants to compete with premium smart rings and encourage Galaxy Watch owners to add a ring. A higher price is possible if the successor uses more expensive battery technology, adds hardware or offers substantially stronger health analysis. A cheaper model cannot be ruled out, but current reporting does not provide evidence for one.
Do not convert $399.99 directly into a UK, European or Australian price. Samsung’s regional pricing includes local taxes and market-specific positioning. There is also no confirmed change to the current Ring’s subscription model. The existing Galaxy Ring does not require an Oura-style membership, but Samsung has not promised that every future premium health service will remain free.
Rumoured Galaxy Ring 2 specifications and features
Battery: possibly nine to 10 days
The current Galaxy Ring is rated for up to seven days of battery life, with capacity varying by size from approximately 18mAh to 23.5mAh. It includes a charging case, which is central to the ownership experience. Samsung’s published baseline also lists a titanium construction, 10ATM water resistance and IP68 protection.
Rumour reports suggest Galaxy Ring 2 could last around nine to 10 days, possibly using a solid-state battery. Neither the battery chemistry nor the runtime has been confirmed by Samsung. The gain would be most useful for sleep tracking: fewer charging interruptions mean fewer gaps in overnight data. Battery performance would still vary with ring size, exercise tracking, health measurements, phone connectivity, temperature, firmware and battery ageing.

Any future “10-day battery” claim should be checked carefully for whether it is a Samsung rating, a rumour or an independent test.
Sensors and health accuracy
The current Galaxy Ring uses an accelerometer, PPG sensor and skin-temperature sensing. Rumours do not establish a definitive sensor list for its successor. The more credible upgrade direction is better interpretation of existing measurements rather than a guaranteed collection of entirely new sensors.
Likely areas of improvement include more consistent skin-temperature readings, more reliable sleep measurements and broader cardiovascular insights. A Galaxy Ring 2 could also combine ring data with Galaxy Watch information more effectively. Samsung’s stated direction appears to emphasise software and services as much as hardware, according to Android Authority’s report on the company’s comments.
More sensors or better algorithms would not automatically make the ring a medical device. Until Samsung provides technical validation and regulatory information, these should be treated as consumer health and wellness insights, not diagnoses or medical-grade measurements.
Sleep, recovery and cardiovascular insights
Sleep is likely to remain the Galaxy Ring’s central use case. Samsung Health already supports sleep analysis, sleep coaching, exercise detection, heart-rate notifications and skin-temperature-based cycle tracking. A successor could make those tools more useful through better reliability, clearer recovery interpretation and more personalised recommendations.
Expanded cardiovascular analysis is also a recurring medium-confidence rumour. The practical value will depend less on a feature name than on whether Samsung reduces false alerts, explains trends clearly and makes the information useful alongside Galaxy Watch data.
Samsung Health and Galaxy AI
Expect software to be at least as important as the physical ring. Possible improvements include:
- more useful sleep coaching;
- AI-generated summaries of sleep, activity and recovery;
- better long-term health-trend explanations;
- more personalised recommendations; and
- closer coordination between Galaxy Ring and Galaxy Watch measurements.
Samsung’s current health platform and Ring features are described in its Galaxy Ring availability and Samsung Health announcement. AI summaries should be understood as interpretation and coaching, not professional medical advice.

iPhone compatibility
Possible iPhone support would be one of the most strategically important changes. Samsung’s current ring is closely tied to Android and Samsung Health, while a senior executive has reportedly indicated that broader compatibility could be considered for the next generation.
That could expand Samsung’s market, make the ring a stronger Oura alternative and reduce the need to own a Samsung phone. But iPhone compatibility is not confirmed. If Samsung keeps the current ecosystem requirement, Galaxy Ring 2 may remain a poor choice for iPhone owners and people who do not want to use Samsung Health.
Sizes and fit
The current Galaxy Ring range covers sizes 5 through 15, after Samsung added sizes 14 and 15. Some reports suggest that two more sizes could arrive with the successor, but this is unconfirmed.
Recommended Free Tools
Fit matters more with a smart ring than with a watch strap. Finger size changes with temperature and throughout the day, and poor sensor contact can affect comfort and readings. Anyone buying the current Ring should use Samsung’s sizing process rather than guessing from a conventional ring size. Additional sizes would improve accessibility, but they would not remove the need for careful fitting.
Design, durability and charging
There is no reliable final design information for Galaxy Ring 2. The current model is approximately 7mm wide and 2.6mm thick, weighs about 2.3g to 3.3g depending on size, and uses titanium. It is rated at 10ATM and IP68.
A thinner body, new finishes or changes to the charging case have appeared in general speculation, but none should be treated as a confirmed specification. The successor is also not expected to replace a smartwatch: a ring has no display, apps, cellular connection, watch-style navigation or full notification system.
Blood-glucose monitoring: the least reliable rumour
Non-invasive blood-glucose monitoring has appeared in Galaxy Ring speculation, but Samsung has not confirmed it and there is no reliable evidence that the product will launch with this capability.

Galaxy Ring 2 versus Oura, RingConn and Ultrahuman
The right alternative depends primarily on your phone, tolerance for subscriptions and preferred health platform.
- Choose Oura if you prioritise an established sleep, readiness and wellness platform and are comfortable checking its current membership terms. Visit Oura’s official site for current models and pricing.
- Consider RingConn if long battery life and avoiding a premium subscription are priorities. Verify current models, pricing and regional availability at RingConn.
- Consider Ultrahuman if you want a subscription-free alternative focused on sleep, recovery and metabolic wellness. Check current model and regional details at Ultrahuman.
- Choose Samsung if Galaxy Watch and Samsung Health integration matter more than platform neutrality.
For iPhone users, the compatibility question is decisive. Unless Samsung confirms iOS support, the Galaxy Ring remains an ecosystem-dependent purchase rather than a universal smart ring.
Should you buy the current Galaxy Ring or wait?
Buy the current Galaxy Ring if:
- you already own a compatible Samsung Galaxy phone;
- you want sleep and wellness tracking now;
- you use Samsung Health or a Galaxy Watch;
- you do not need iPhone support;
- up to seven days of claimed battery life is sufficient; and
- you can buy the current model at a meaningful discount.
Use Samsung’s sizing process before ordering. The current product is available through Samsung’s official store.

Wait for Galaxy Ring 2 if:
- battery life is your main reason for delaying a purchase;
- possible iPhone support would change your decision;
- more accurate temperature, sleep or cardiovascular insights matter;
- you are willing to wait until at least early 2027; or
- you want to see whether Samsung delivers meaningful software improvements rather than a cosmetic refresh.
Do not wait solely for glucose tracking
That claim is too weak to justify postponing a purchase. Treat it as speculation unless Samsung provides technical and regulatory evidence.
Rumour tracker
| Status | Claim |
|---|---|
| Confirmed | Samsung is working on a next-generation smart ring. |
| Reported | An early 2027 announcement is currently the leading timing report. |
| Plausible | Better battery life, temperature sensing, sleep interpretation and cardiovascular insights. |
| Possible | iPhone compatibility and additional sizes. |
| Speculative | Blood-glucose monitoring, exact battery chemistry and final design. |
Older coverage may repeat predictions of a 2025 launch, a Galaxy S25 unveiling or guaranteed blood-glucose tracking. Those forecasts have been superseded by the current reporting and should not be treated as present expectations.
Verdict
Galaxy Ring 2 is real as a development project, but almost everything buyers need to know remains unconfirmed. The best current forecast is an early 2027 announcement, not a 2026 release. A starting price near $399.99 is plausible because that is what the current US Galaxy Ring costs, while nine-to-10-day battery life, improved health interpretation, iPhone support and extra sizes remain varying levels of rumour.
For Samsung users who need a ring now, the current model can make sense—especially discounted. For buyers who specifically want longer battery life or broader compatibility, waiting is sensible. No one should buy, wait or make a medical decision based on the unverified glucose-monitoring claim.
