Huawei announced three watches at its Berlin event on May 15, 2025: the premium, round Huawei Watch 5, the lighter Watch Fit 4, and the more advanced rectangular Watch Fit 4 Pro. The Watch 5 targets buyers who want a traditional smartwatch with eSIM and Huawei’s broadest sensor set. The Fit 4 is the affordable, long-battery option, while the Fit 4 Pro adds ECG, sapphire glass and outdoor-sports features at a substantially lower launch price than the Watch 5.
This is a retrospective guide to a 2025 launch. Huawei has since introduced the newer Fit 5 generation, so current shoppers should compare today’s prices and features before buying an older Fit 4 model.

The short version
- Huawei Watch 5: the premium choice, with a round 42mm or 46mm case, eSIM options, X-TAP fingertip health measurements, ECG and premium materials.
- Huawei Watch Fit 4: the lightest and least expensive model, aimed at everyday fitness, sleep, notifications and route tracking.
- Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro: the middle ground, adding ECG where supported, sapphire glass, a titanium bezel, golf maps, trail-running tools and freediving support.
The three watches are not simply different versions of one product. The Watch 5 is a conventional flagship smartwatch; the Fit 4 models are thinner, lighter, rectangular fitness-focused devices.
Huawei Watch 5: the flagship model
The Watch 5 is available in 42mm and 46mm case sizes, with stainless-steel or titanium configurations depending on the version and market. Selected models use sapphire-glass protection. Both sizes have LTPO 2.0 AMOLED displays, with a 1.38-inch screen on the 42mm model and a 1.5-inch screen on the 46mm model. Huawei lists peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits. See Huawei’s full Watch 5 specifications.

Its headline feature is Huawei’s X-TAP sensor system, which is designed for fingertip-based health measurements. The watch also includes ECG, optical heart-rate, blood-oxygen, body-temperature, depth, barometer and motion sensors, plus more than 100 sports modes. ECG and other health readings are consumer wellness features, not a replacement for professional medical diagnosis.
Supported versions include eSIM connectivity, allowing compatible calling and data features without relying entirely on a phone. Availability depends on the country, carrier and plan. The Watch 5 also supports HarmonyOS and AppGallery, dual-band GNSS and gesture controls such as double-tap and double-slide interactions.
Watch 5 battery claims
The 46mm model is rated by Huawei for up to 4.5 days in Standard mode, or up to three days with Always-On Display enabled. Battery Saver mode is quoted at up to 11 days. The 42mm model is rated for up to three days in Standard mode, two days with Always-On Display, and up to seven days in Battery Saver mode. Huawei gives lower estimates when the watch is paired with an iPhone: up to three days for the 46mm model and two days for the 42mm model under its specified conditions.

The headline 11-day figure therefore applies only to the 46mm model in Battery Saver mode and under Huawei’s laboratory testing. eSIM use, GPS, frequent exercise tracking and an always-on display can reduce runtime.

Huawei Watch Fit 4: the practical option
The standard Fit 4 uses a rectangular 1.82-inch AMOLED display in an aluminium case. At approximately 27g without the strap, it is considerably lighter than a traditional premium smartwatch. Huawei lists peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits, dual-band multi-system GNSS, a barometer, route navigation and Bluetooth calling. View the Watch Fit 4 specifications.
Its main advantages are price, weight and endurance. Huawei quotes up to seven days of typical battery life, up to 10 days under maximum-battery testing, and up to four days with Always-On Display enabled. These are defined laboratory estimates rather than guaranteed real-world results.
The Fit 4 is compatible with Android 8.0 or later and iOS 13.0 or later. Compatibility does not guarantee identical features on both platforms: Huawei documents differences in functions such as watch-face handling, sharing and remote controls.

- 5 ATM Waterproof, 130+ Sport Modes Fitness Tracker
It adds the features that make it more than a cosmetic upgrade over the standard Fit 4: ECG where approved and supported, Huawei’s TruSense health tracking, golf-course maps and advanced golf functions, trail-running tools, offline maps and freediving support advertised to a stated depth of up to 40 metres. It also retains dual-band GNSS and the Fit series’ long-battery focus. Huawei’s comparison page lists the major Fit 4 and Fit 4 Pro differences.
Huawei quotes up to seven days of typical battery life, up to 10 days in maximum-battery testing and up to four days with Always-On Display. The Fit 4 Pro does not offer the Watch 5’s eSIM proposition.

Choose the Watch 5 for a premium smartwatch experience
Buy the Watch 5 if you specifically want a round watch design, premium case options, the broadest sensor package or eSIM connectivity where your carrier supports it. It is the closest of the three to a conventional flagship smartwatch, but its shorter battery life and higher price are the trade-offs.

Choose the standard Fit 4 for value and battery life
The Fit 4 is the sensible choice for activity, sleep, notifications, route tracking and everyday exercise without paying for features you will not use. It is the lightest option and offers substantially longer quoted battery life than the Watch 5. Choose it over the Pro only if you do not need ECG, sapphire protection, golf features, trail-running tools or freediving support.
Choose the Fit 4 Pro for outdoor sports
The Fit 4 Pro is the strongest compromise between cost and capability. It overlaps with the Watch 5 on GPS, sports and health tracking while adding features the standard Fit 4 lacks. It is particularly compelling for golfers, trail runners and users who want sapphire glass or ECG where supported. Its rectangular design and lack of eSIM distinguish it from the Watch 5.
For iPhone owners, check the exact feature list
All relevant models are designed to work with iPhones, but Huawei’s support documentation records platform-specific limitations. Before buying, confirm the functions you need—such as notifications, remote controls, watch faces, sharing, payments and health tools—on the local Huawei support page. Huawei documents Android and iOS feature differences here.
Regional restrictions matter
The UK and European launch details should not be treated as global availability. The initial launch coverage did not establish straightforward US pricing or retail availability. NFC and bank-card functions vary by country, ECG depends on regulatory approval and regional software support, and eSIM requires a compatible carrier and plan.

Check the local Huawei product page before purchase, especially if you need ECG, contactless payments, standalone mobile service or a particular app. Hardware appearing in a specification sheet does not guarantee that every feature is enabled in every country.
Water resistance is not waterproofing
Use the watches according to Huawei’s local documentation rather than treating their ratings as unrestricted diving guarantees. The standard Fit 4 is rated 5 ATM for suitable shallow-water activities. Huawei advertises the Fit 4 Pro for freediving to up to 40 metres. The Watch 5 page references 5 ATM, IP69 and EN13319-related diving support, but permitted activities and limits should be checked in the relevant manual.
A 5 ATM rating does not mean a watch is suitable for diving to 50 metres. Avoid calling any of these watches “waterproof.”

The announcement belongs to May 2025, not the current product cycle. Huawei has since introduced the Watch Fit 5 generation, so a Fit 4 or Fit 4 Pro is worth considering mainly when its current price, availability or feature set makes it a better deal. Compare the older model with the Watch Fit 5 and its current specifications before buying.
