The CMF Watch Pro remains a stylish, capable budget smartwatch—but only for the right buyer. Its aluminum case, excellent 1.96-inch AMOLED display, built-in GPS, Bluetooth calling and long battery life still make it appealing for notifications, casual exercise and everyday convenience. But unreliable phone connectivity, basic fitness analysis, no NFC, no third-party apps, no notification replies and unclear long-term app support make it a poor substitute for an Apple Watch, Galaxy Watch or Garmin.
At the observed US price of $69.99, it is increasingly difficult to recommend over the newer CMF Watch Pro 2 or CMF Watch 3 Pro. Buy the original Watch Pro as a clearance bargain—not automatically as the best CMF watch.

CMF Watch Pro: quick verdict
The CMF Watch Pro is beautiful in the ways cheap smartwatches rarely are, and basic in the ways its “Pro” name might suggest otherwise.

Nothing’s US store listed the original Watch Pro at $69.99 when checked in 2026, although stock and regional pricing can change. At that price, the first-generation model needs to be meaningfully cheaper than newer CMF watches to make sense.

What is the CMF Watch Pro?
The CMF Watch Pro is CMF by Nothing’s first-generation budget smartwatch. CMF is Nothing’s more affordable brand, and this watch sits below premium products from Apple, Samsung, Garmin and Huawei.
Despite its square shape, it is not a mini Apple Watch. The Watch Pro uses a proprietary operating system rather than Wear OS, depends on a paired phone for most connected features and has no independent app ecosystem. It works with Android and iPhone, but compatibility does not mean feature parity: some functions, such as the camera remote, depend on the phone model and operating system.
There is no cellular connection, Wi-Fi independence, NFC payment support or third-party app store. Think of it as a fitness watch with a large screen and useful smartwatch conveniences, rather than a small phone for your wrist.
Design and comfort
Design is the Watch Pro’s strongest argument. Its angular, minimalist styling looks more deliberate than the generic plastic cases common at this price. The case is aluminum alloy rather than ordinary budget-watch plastic, giving it a more substantial appearance without making it heavy.
The case measures approximately 46.9 × 39.87 × 12.89mm and weighs about 30g without the strap, according to Tech Advisor’s specifications. It uses replaceable 22mm quick-release straps.
This is a large watch. It is chunky but light, and its broad square face has a noticeable presence on the wrist. That will appeal to people who like bold, angular watches, but smaller wrists may find the proportions less comfortable or visually overwhelming. “Beautiful” is therefore a genuine design advantage, not a universal ergonomic verdict.
Nothing also gives the hardware, watch faces and interface a consistent industrial character. The result feels more cohesive than many inexpensive watches that imitate premium designs without developing their own visual identity.

The 1.96-inch AMOLED display is arguably the Watch Pro’s most premium-looking feature. It has a 410 × 502-pixel resolution and approximately 600 nits of maximum brightness in the review specifications cited by Tech Advisor.
Text is sharp, contrast is strong and watch faces have the saturated, deep blacks expected from AMOLED. Compared with cheap LCD-based watches and trackers, it immediately looks more expensive. The large panel also makes notifications and workout information easy to read at a glance.

The watch offers smart functionalities including notifications, quick Android SMS replies, find my phone, camera control, alarms, timers, weather forecasts, music control, and multi-system GPS.
There is a visible bezel, and Tech Advisor reported that the watch lacks automatic brightness adjustment. You may therefore need to change brightness manually between indoor and outdoor conditions. The always-on display is useful, but it substantially reduces battery life.
The interface is straightforward rather than ambitious. You get watch faces, widgets and basic menus, but not the depth or flexibility of a full smartwatch platform. The screen improves the daily experience; it does not change the watch’s software limitations.

Smartwatch features: useful, but deliberately basic
The Watch Pro can read incoming notifications, show weather and utility information, control phone music, run alarms and timers, set reminders and trigger a phone camera on supported Android devices. It can also expose voice-assistant functionality through the connected phone.
Its built-in microphone and speaker support Bluetooth calls. The phone must remain nearby and connected, so this is a wrist-based remote for your phone rather than an independent calling device. In quiet surroundings, independent testing found call voices surprisingly clear. In public, however, the speakerphone format is not private. Contacts may also need to be added manually.
The limitations are more important than the feature list:
- You can read notifications, but cannot reply to them.
- There is no full keyboard or message composition.
- There is no NFC for contactless payments.
- There is no third-party app store.
- There is no cellular service or independent Wi-Fi operation.
- Weather and other internet-dependent information require a Bluetooth connection to the phone.
TechRadar found Bluetooth calling effective in testing, but its camera remote did not work with the tested Vivo phone and was unavailable on iPhone. Android and iPhone support should therefore be understood as basic compatibility, not identical functionality.
Notifications and connectivity are the main concern
A notification watch is only useful if it remains connected. This is where the Watch Pro’s software can undermine its attractive hardware.
Tech Advisor reported repeated Bluetooth disconnections. TechRadar reported daily connection drops across multiple phones even after permissions were granted. Reviewers also encountered notifications stopping until the companion app was reopened or the watch resynchronized.
These are not merely cosmetic bugs. If you buy the Watch Pro primarily to avoid checking your phone, a silent disconnection defeats its central purpose. Bluetooth 5.3 is a specification, not a guarantee of stable real-world behavior.

The watch offers smart functionalities including notifications, quick Android SMS replies, find my phone, camera control, alarms, timers, weather forecasts, music control, and multi-system GPS.
Android battery management can make the situation worse by closing the companion app in the background. Exact menu names vary by phone manufacturer and software version, but the practical setup is:
- Install the current CMF or Nothing companion app shown for the watch.
- Pair through the companion app rather than only through the phone’s Bluetooth settings.
- Allow notification access, Bluetooth access and background activity.
- Where Android offers the option, set the companion app to unrestricted or unrestricted battery use.
- Update the app, watch firmware and phone software after pairing.
If notifications stop, open the app and confirm that the watch is still connected. If pairing fails, remove the watch from the phone’s Bluetooth list, restart both devices and pair again through the app. These steps may help, but they do not eliminate the underlying reports of unreliable connectivity.
Health tracking: suitable for trends, not diagnosis
The Watch Pro includes heart-rate monitoring, blood-oxygen or SpO₂ readings, stress monitoring, sleep tracking, step counting, inactivity reminders and workout recording. These are wellness features, not medical instruments. Do not use the watch to diagnose a condition or make a clinical decision.
For casual daily use, step counts and general activity trends may be adequate. Resting heart-rate readings were sometimes close to comparison devices. Exercise measurements were less convincing, however.
In Wareable’s testing, the watch recorded a maximum heart rate of 170 beats per minute during rowing versus 138 bpm on a chest strap. During a run, it recorded 177 bpm versus 163 bpm on the comparison device. Such differences matter if you train by heart-rate zones, but are less important if you simply want a rough activity record.
Sleep tracking also needs caution. Wareable reported that the watch could overestimate sleep and classify quiet wakefulness as sleep. SpO₂ and stress readings may be interesting for long-term trends, but the Watch Pro does not provide the validation, interpretation or medical reliability of clinical equipment.
GPS: present, but not a serious training tool
The Watch Pro has onboard multi-system GPS, so it can record an outdoor workout without carrying the phone for location data. That is a meaningful feature at this price.
Having GPS is not the same as having dependable sports tracking. Independent reviewers reported slow satellite locks, route discrepancies on longer runs and messy route presentation in the companion app. Wareable also reported that a completed workout sometimes had to sync before another could be started.
GPS is adequate for casual walks, occasional jogging and broad distance awareness. It is not a good choice for structured running plans, race preparation, navigation, detailed cycling analysis or precise pace and heart-rate training zones. The more important workout data is to you, the less attractive the Watch Pro becomes.

110-plus exercise modes: broad coverage, limited depth
CMF lists more than 110 exercise modes. That sounds comprehensive, but the number should not be confused with 110 sets of advanced analytics.
Many modes primarily record duration, heart rate and basic movement. They do not necessarily provide sport-specific metrics, repetition counting, training load, recovery guidance or detailed post-workout analysis. The Watch Pro can recognize and log many activities; it is not a serious coaching platform.
Battery life: excellent, but not really 13 days for everyone
The official headline is up to 13 days. CMF’s support documentation defines that figure using a controlled pattern including 288 heart-rate checks per day, 100 screen wake-ups, 10 incoming-call notifications, 200 message notifications, three alarms, 24 data updates and limited exercise, GPS and Bluetooth-calling use. The same documentation lists up to 10 days under heavier use and four days with heavy use and an always-on display for 12 hours daily. See the official CMF feature documentation.
Independent results are lower but still strong:
- Tech Advisor achieved about nine days with most features enabled.
- TechRadar reported roughly five days with always-on display, continuous heart-rate monitoring and notifications.
- Wareable observed about 10% battery loss per day without always-on display and about 20% per day with it enabled.
The fair expectation is several days to around a week in demanding real-world use, and potentially longer with conservative settings. Battery life is one of the Watch Pro’s best qualities, but 13 days is not a typical always-on, fully monitored result.

Water resistance: splash protection, not swim readiness
The Watch Pro carries an IP68 rating, but that does not automatically make it suitable for swimming, showering, hot water or high-pressure water.
Treat it as suitable for ordinary rain and splashes. Do not wear it for swimming, showers, hot tubs, saunas, diving or high-pressure rinsing. Water resistance can decline as a device ages or is damaged, and the speaker may sound muffled after exposure.
In other words, do not call this a waterproof swim watch. If regular water use is essential, choose a product whose manufacturer explicitly supports swimming.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. The companion app in 2026
App support is a moving target. Current official CMF support material still references the CMF Watch app and instructs users to keep the watch connected through it. Separate reporting about the newer CMF Watch 3 Pro described a transition toward Nothing X, with the older app remaining active until July 2026.
Because those materials do not establish one universal app path for every region, phone or firmware version, check the current iOS or Android listing and device-pairing instructions before buying. Do not assume that an app transition for newer CMF watches automatically means identical support for the original Watch Pro.

CMF Watch Pro vs newer CMF watches
CMF Watch Pro 2
The CMF Watch Pro 2 is the first model to check. Nothing’s US page showed it at $49 on sale versus a $69 former price in the captured storefront. It also has a claimed 11-day battery, multi-system GPS and interchangeable bezels.
If the Watch Pro 2 is available at or below the original Watch Pro’s $69.99 price, it is generally the more sensible in-brand purchase because it is newer and more likely to receive current product attention. It remains a proprietary basic smartwatch, however, not a Wear OS replacement.
CMF Watch 3 Pro
The CMF Watch 3 Pro is the newer step-up option. Nothing’s US storefront showed sale pricing around $65–$79 in captured listings against a $99 reference price, although prices vary by region and promotion. It adds dual-band GPS, offers newer-generation support and carries a claimed 13-day battery.

Alternatives worth considering
Amazfit Bip 5
The Amazfit Bip 5 was listed by Amazfit at $59.99–$89.99 depending on variant or promotion. It offers a 1.91-inch display, claimed 10-day battery life, Bluetooth calls, more than 120 sports modes, four satellite systems and the more developed Zepp app ecosystem.
Choose it if fitness software, integrations and broader app support matter more than AMOLED quality and CMF’s distinctive aluminum design. Its LCD and conventional plastic budget-watch appearance are less polished.
Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro
Xiaomi’s European promotional material listed the Smart Band 9 Pro at €49.99 on sale versus €69.99 regular. That is a European reference, not a US price. It is the better direction for readers who prefer a slimmer fitness-band form factor and health-tracking focus over a large, traditional watch design. See Xiaomi’s promotion terms for the cited regional pricing.
Garmin, Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch
These are category alternatives rather than direct price competitors. Garmin is the better fit for serious workout metrics and training tools. Apple Watch is stronger for iPhone integration, payments, apps and replies. Samsung Galaxy Watch is stronger for Android and Wear OS features, apps and payments. None should be expected to match the CMF Watch Pro’s combination of low price and long battery life.
Should you buy the CMF Watch Pro?
Buy it if:
- You want a large AMOLED display and distinctive design at a low price.
- Your priorities are notifications, alarms, steps, basic workouts and occasional Bluetooth calls.
- You value multi-day battery life more than a deep smartwatch ecosystem.
- You are comfortable troubleshooting Bluetooth permissions and background-app settings.
- You do not need payment support, message replies or downloadable apps.
Avoid it if:
- Reliable, hands-off notifications are essential.
- You need accurate running, cycling or heart-rate training data.
- You swim or want a watch safe for regular showers.
- You expect Apple Watch or Galaxy Watch-style apps and replies.
- You need NFC payments, robust data export or a mature fitness ecosystem.
- The Watch Pro 2 or Watch 3 Pro is available for a similar price.
Final verdict
The CMF Watch Pro delivers an unusually attractive package for a budget watch: a bold aluminum case, excellent AMOLED display, built-in GPS, usable Bluetooth calling and genuinely strong battery life. Those qualities explain why it remains interesting several generations later.
But its basic proprietary software is not a footnote. Recurring connection problems can compromise notifications, while inconsistent heart-rate, sleep and GPS results limit its fitness value. There are no NFC payments, third-party apps or notification replies, and IP68 should be treated as splash resistance rather than permission to swim or shower with it.
In 2026, buy the original CMF Watch Pro only when it is substantially discounted or when its design specifically appeals to you. At roughly $69.99, investigate the Watch Pro 2 first; consider the Watch 3 Pro if its newer GPS hardware is worth a modest premium. The original remains a good clearance watch for casual users, but it is no longer the automatic budget recommendation its hardware once made it seem.
