Halliday G2 Smart Glasses Use a Discreet Display—but Meeting Assistance Is the Real Pitch

Halliday’s G2 replaces the original tiny “invisible display” concept with a binocular waveguide system aimed at meeting assistance. Here are its price, preorder terms, subscription limits and key compromises.

Halliday is a real smart-glasses company, but the product behind the original “invisible display” headline is not the same device now being promoted. Halliday unveiled its first-generation glasses at CES 2025; the newer Halliday G2, announced in July 2026, uses a binocular waveguide display with dual microLED engines. Halliday lists a $599 starting MSRP, with late-August preorders and September first-batch shipping expected. A $10 Priority Access reservation can reduce the starting purchase price to $499, but the G2 remains a preorder product rather than an established retail device.

The more important question is whether its camera-free display and Meeting Flow AI can justify the price and possible subscription costs. Halliday’s headline claims are promising, but display readability, meeting accuracy, battery life and fulfillment still require broad independent testing.

What Halliday actually launched

The phrase “revolutionary smart glasses with an invisible display” refers primarily to Halliday’s launch language. It does not describe a standardized technical category, and it should not be read as meaning that the display is literally invisible or that the glasses create a full-lens holographic overlay.

Date Product milestone
January 2025 Halliday unveils its first-generation glasses at CES, promoting a discreet “invisible display.”
2025 The first-generation product goes through crowdfunding and production updates, including reported delivery and timeline issues.
July 2026 Halliday announces the G2, repositioned around meetings and conversations.
Late August 2026 G2 preorders are scheduled to begin.
September 2026 First-batch shipping is expected; Halliday’s support material specifies mid-September.

The first-generation glasses used a much smaller optical-display concept. Halliday’s current G2 is a substantial hardware change, so early coverage, images, specifications and reviews of the original model should not be treated as evidence about G2 performance.

(Auxiliary route guidance, prioritizing safe observation of the real-world environment.)

Halliday’s original product page describes the first-generation glasses as proactive AI glasses with a small, lens-free optical module intended to place information near the wearer’s eye. Early uses included notifications, AI assistance, translation and teleprompting. TechCrunch described the display as a tiny screen projected into the wearer’s view, while TechRadar criticized the limited readable area. Halliday’s product information and TechCrunch’s CES coverage provide useful context, but first-generation campaign prices are not today’s G2 retail price.

What “invisible display” really means

For the original Halliday glasses, “invisible” meant discreet: the wearer was intended to see a small image without a large transparent screen visibly covering the lens. It did not mean that other people could never see the optical hardware, nor that the wearer received unlimited information across the entire lens.

The term also does not imply full-color augmented reality, a holographic interface or equal readability in every lighting condition. A small display has practical limits on text size, line length, viewing position and outdoor visibility.

Halliday G2 should be described more precisely as a binocular diffractive waveguide display. Halliday lists dual microLED optical engines, green monochrome output, 600 × 300 pixels per eye, a 25.2-degree field of view and peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits. Those are company-listed specifications, not independent measurements. Halliday’s purchase page does not by itself establish how comfortably the display handles direct sunlight, glare, ghosting, polarized lenses or different pupillary distances.

How Halliday G2 works

G2 combines a near-eye display with open-ear audio, microphones, touch controls, a smartphone connection and Halliday’s AI services. It is not a standalone camera-based visual-AI system like camera-equipped smart glasses.

  • Display: Binocular waveguide with dual microLED engines, green monochrome output, 600 × 300 pixels per eye and a 25.2-degree field of view.
  • Audio: Four open-ear speakers designed to provide sound without sealing the ear canal.
  • Voice capture: Four microphones.
  • Controls: A 73 mm touch bar on the right temple, plus an action button listed on Halliday’s design information.
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.4 with LE Audio and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for over-the-air updates.
  • Camera: None.
  • Durability: IP54 dust and water resistance.
  • Battery: 210 mAh with magnetic charging; Halliday claims up to 12 hours of regular use.

The camera-free design is a meaningful trade-off. It may be easier to wear in meetings and less socially intrusive than glasses that can record images. It also avoids some camera-related weight, battery and privacy concerns. But G2 cannot natively take photos or video, identify objects through a camera, or perform the same visual scene analysis as camera-equipped competitors.

Meeting Flow is the central feature

Halliday positions G2 less as a general-purpose AR viewer and more as a meeting assistant. Its Meeting Flow feature is intended to provide live prompts and contextual assistance while a conversation is happening, followed by a post-meeting summary. The platform also lists translation, notifications, calls, music and other daily functions. Android Central’s coverage describes the product’s meeting-focused positioning.

The unanswered practical questions are more important than the feature list:

  • Does the display show keywords, suggested responses, prompts or longer summaries?
  • How much text can be read at once on the green monochrome display?
  • How quickly do prompts appear after someone speaks?
  • Does Meeting Flow require a nearby phone, an internet connection or both?
  • How well does it handle accents, background noise, overlapping speech and multiple speakers?
  • Can names, figures, dates and action items be corrected before a summary is shared?
  • Are participants told that audio is being processed, and where are recordings, transcripts and summaries stored?

Halliday’s materials establish the feature as a product claim, not its accuracy in every meeting. Employers and regulated organizations may also restrict recording or transcription, even when the glasses have no camera. Camera-free does not mean data-free: audio processing, transcripts, summaries and account information still raise consent, retention and security questions.

Subscription credits change the ownership cost

Halliday’s membership page lists a free Starter tier and paid plans. Meeting Flow and its automatically generated post-meeting summary count as one session, while Halliday says a standalone post-meeting-summary option is planned through a future over-the-air update.

Plan Monthly price Credits Halliday’s approximate allowance
Starter Free 200/month Includes Halliday AI, live translation and daily functions; Meeting Flow and summaries consume credits.
Basic $9.90 400/month About 240 minutes of Meeting Flow or 600 minutes of post-meeting summary.
Pro $19.90 1,000/month About 600 minutes of Meeting Flow or 1,500 minutes of post-meeting summary.
Max $99 6,000/month About 3,600 minutes of Meeting Flow or 9,000 minutes of post-meeting summary.

These minute equivalents are estimates, not fixed allowances. Halliday says credit use varies with speaking pace and conversation density. Credits reset monthly and do not roll over.

Priority Access buyers are offered one free year of Basic, with the option to upgrade that promotional year to Pro for $19.90 or Max for $99. Those are promotional-year upgrade prices, not the normal recurring monthly prices listed above. Buyers should confirm what happens after the free year before treating the subscription as part of the product’s permanent value.

Fit, prescription support and comfort

Halliday lists the following G2 dimensions: 47 mm lens width, 41 mm lens height, 15 mm bridge width, 152 mm hinge-to-hinge width and 167 mm temple length. The lenses have listed 98% transmittance and an anti-reflective coating.

Prescription customization is listed for sphere values from -8.00 D to +2.00 D and cylinder values from -2.00 D to 0.00 D, in 0.25-diopter increments. That range will not suit every astigmatism prescription. Fit also depends on pupillary distance, lens thickness, progressive-lens support and regional optical fulfillment.

Prescription orders may ship later than non-prescription orders. The official specifications do not establish compatibility with every lens type or insurance program, so buyers should confirm those details before reserving. Halliday’s support FAQ contains the current ordering qualifications.

That makes the reservation a purchase option, not proof that the glasses are already broadly available. Halliday says preorders begin in late August and first-batch shipping is expected in September, with prescription orders potentially taking longer. Taxes, shipping, prescription charges and regional availability should be confirmed at checkout.

The first-generation Halliday campaign also experienced production and delivery friction, documented in crowdfunding updates. That history does not prove G2 will be delayed, but it is relevant context when deciding whether to pay for an early reservation. Indiegogo’s update history is the appropriate source for that context.

Halliday G2 compared with alternatives

Product Display and camera Best suited to Main compromise
Halliday G2 Binocular green monochrome waveguide; no camera Discreet meeting prompts, translation and notifications Preorder status, credit-based AI features and unproven real-world display performance
Meta Ray-Ban Display Full-color 600 × 600 display; camera-based AI Visual AI, messaging, multimedia and Meta ecosystem features Higher $799 starting price, camera privacy concerns and a Neural Band; Meta claims up to six hours of mixed-use battery life
Even Realities G2 Display-focused smart glasses Buyers seeking a discreet display alternative around the same price category Specifications, plans, lens costs and availability should be checked against the current official product page

Meta lists the Ray-Ban Display at a starting price of $799 including the glasses and Neural Band. Its advantages are color, camera-based visual understanding and a broader ecosystem; its disadvantages are price, shorter claimed single-charge battery life and the need to wear an additional wrist device. Meta’s announcement provides the official pricing and feature claims.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Even Realities is the closer display-oriented comparison, but exact current specifications and subscription terms should not be assumed from secondary coverage. The choice depends on whether the priority is Halliday’s meeting workflow, Meta’s camera-based ecosystem or a more general display experience.

Who should consider Halliday G2?

It may suit you if:

  • You want discreet prompts during meetings rather than photos, video or gaming.
  • You wear prescription glasses and fall within Halliday’s listed prescription ranges.
  • You prefer a camera-free device for workplace or social reasons.
  • You are comfortable with cloud-connected AI and possible recurring subscription charges.
  • You accept preorder and first-batch fulfillment risk.

You should wait or choose something else if:

  • You need camera-based visual recognition, first-person video or photography.
  • You want full-color media, maps, images or a large augmented-reality screen.
  • You do not want a subscription attached to the main meeting features.
  • You need waterproof rather than IP54-rated eyewear.
  • You require immediate retail availability and extensive independent testing.

What to verify before buying

  1. Check how readable the display is in direct sunlight and whether polarized or photochromic lenses interfere with it.
  2. Confirm the display position, eye comfort, ghosting and text capacity for your pupillary distance.
  3. Ask how Meeting Flow handles consent, storage, deletion and workplace restrictions.
  4. Confirm whether the phone must remain nearby and connected for calls, translation and AI features.
  5. Calculate your likely monthly meeting minutes against the credit plans rather than relying on the free tier.
  6. Confirm prescription compatibility, progressive-lens availability and delivery timing.
  7. Read the reservation refund and expiry terms before applying the discount code.

The Bottom Line

Halliday’s real innovation is not simply an “invisible” screen. G2 is a camera-free, binocular waveguide headset whose success depends on whether its display and Meeting Flow assistance work reliably in everyday conversations. At $599—or $499 after Priority Access—it is intriguing for privacy-conscious professionals, but preorder status, subscription limits and unverified real-world performance make waiting a sensible choice for buyers who need a proven retail product.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
