Samsung Galaxy Watch8 is a released smartwatch, not an upcoming model. Samsung announced it on July 9, 2025, and general availability began July 25, 2025. US launch MSRP started at $349.99 for the 40mm Bluetooth/Wi-Fi version, with 44mm, LTE, health, fitness, and software options available at higher prices.
Samsung Galaxy Watch8 is already available. Samsung announced the standard Galaxy Watch8 on July 9, 2025, and general availability began on July 25, 2025. In the US, launch MSRP started at $349.99 for the 40mm Bluetooth/Wi-Fi model. The watch comes in 40mm and 44mm sizes, with Bluetooth/Wi-Fi or LTE connectivity, and runs Wear OS 6 with Samsung’s One UI 8 Watch.
The standard Watch8 is Samsung’s everyday wellness and fitness model. It is separate from the larger 46mm Galaxy Watch8 Classic, which adds a rotating bezel and quick button. Watch8’s main upgrades include a thinner cushion-shaped design, a 3nm Exynos W1000 processor, dual-frequency GPS, expanded sleep and wellness tools, Running Coach, and Gemini integration—although some health and AI features depend on the paired phone, country, account, language, or software.

Galaxy Watch8 price in the US
Samsung’s US purchase page and MSRP information list the following launch pricing. These figures were checked at research time on August 13, 2026; retailer discounts, trade-in values, financing, inventory, and shipping offers can change.
| Configuration | US launch MSRP | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|
| 40mm Bluetooth/Wi-Fi | $349.99 | Smaller wrists and buyers who usually carry a phone |
| 44mm Bluetooth/Wi-Fi | $379.99 | Readers who want a larger display and higher-capacity battery |
| 40mm LTE | $399.99 | Users who want cellular connectivity in the smaller case |

The first product to consider is the Samsung Galaxy Watch8, but choose the case size and connectivity tier before comparing listings. LTE models generally also require a compatible carrier plan, and carrier support varies by market. A temporary sale price should not be treated as the permanent MSRP.

Which Galaxy Watch8 configuration should you buy?
40mm Bluetooth/Wi-Fi
This is the smallest, lightest, and least expensive version. It has a 325mAh battery and a 1.34-inch display. It is the sensible choice for smaller wrists or for anyone who expects to keep their phone nearby. The trade-off is less screen area and a smaller battery than the 44mm model.
44mm Bluetooth/Wi-Fi
The 44mm version costs $30 more at launch and increases both the display size and battery capacity. Its 435mAh battery and 1.47-inch screen make it the better fit for readers who prefer larger text, more room for workout information, or longer capacity between charges in comparable usage. Samsung’s specifications establish battery capacity, not a universal real-world runtime, so actual battery life will depend on settings, LTE use, GPS, health sensors, and usage patterns.

40mm LTE
The 40mm LTE model retains the smaller case while adding cellular connectivity. It can be useful for calls, messages, safety features, or connected activities when leaving the phone behind, but confirm that the watch is supported by your carrier and budget for any required service plan.
44mm LTE
This is the largest and most expensive standard Watch8 configuration. It combines the 44mm display and 435mAh battery with LTE. It makes the most sense for buyers who specifically want cellular independence and prefer a larger watch; it is not simply a cosmetic upgrade over the 40mm model because the dimensions, weight, display, and battery are different.
Design, sizes, colors, and durability
Galaxy Watch8 uses a cushion-shaped design language derived from Samsung’s Galaxy Watch Ultra. Samsung says its reengineered internal structure makes the watch 11% thinner than previous Galaxy Watches. It also introduces Samsung’s Dynamic Lug system, which is designed to allow more natural wrist movement and improve comfort, stability, and the consistency of health tracking. Those are Samsung’s design and performance claims rather than independent test results.
| Model | Dimensions | Weight | Display | Battery |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 40mm | 42.7 × 40.4 × 8.6mm | 30.0g | 1.34-inch, 438 × 438 | 325mAh |
| 44mm | 46.0 × 43.7 × 8.6mm | 34.0g | 1.47-inch, 480 × 480 | 435mAh |
Both sizes use a Sapphire Crystal Super AMOLED display with a full-color Always On Display. Samsung claims peak brightness of 3,000 nits and says the screen is 50% brighter than earlier Galaxy Watches. Treat those figures as manufacturer claims; they do not by themselves establish identical outdoor visibility in every condition.

Graphite and Silver are listed for both case sizes. Samsung also lists Small/Medium and Medium/Large band ranges. Measure your wrist and check the selected case size before ordering a replacement strap. Dynamic Lug compatibility does not eliminate the need to verify the band’s fit and attachment system.
Galaxy Watch8 specifications

The dual-frequency GPS is one of the more notable hardware upgrades on paper because it is intended to improve positioning in difficult environments. However, the available research does not include independent GPS accuracy measurements, so it would be inappropriate to promise a specific improvement in real-world tracking.
Health and fitness features
Samsung positions Galaxy Watch8 primarily as a wellness and fitness device. Its health tools can be useful for observing trends and guiding workouts, but they are not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment.
Sleep tracking and sleep-apnea risk detection
Galaxy Watch8 tracks sleep stages, sleep consistency, heart rate, and blood oxygen. Samsung also highlights Sleep Coaching and Bedtime Guidance, which use sleep data to suggest changes to the user’s schedule and habits.
The watch includes FDA-authorized sleep-apnea risk detection in supported markets. Samsung describes the feature as looking for signs associated with moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea, including overnight drops in blood oxygen, with results reviewed in Samsung Health Monitor. It should be described as risk detection or detection of signs—not as a diagnosis. Anyone concerned about sleep apnea should seek evaluation from a qualified healthcare professional.
Sleep Coaching is not an instant feature: Samsung says it requires a compatible Galaxy smartphone running Android 11 or later, Samsung Health, a Samsung account, and at least seven days of sleep data. Other sleep functions may also depend on current software and regional availability.

Energy Score
Energy Score combines previous-day sleep, activity, and heart-rate information into a summary intended to help users understand how ready they may be for the day. It is a wellness interpretation of the available data, not a clinical measurement of energy or health.
Antioxidant Index and AGEs Index
The Antioxidant Index estimates carotenoid levels in the skin after a five-second reading from the rear sensor. Samsung cautions that repeated measurements can vary with skin texture, so the result should be treated as an indicator rather than a definitive nutritional or medical test. Galaxy Watch8 also includes an AGEs Index, another wellness-oriented metric intended to provide insight into metabolic-health-related trends.
Running Coach and heart-rate tools
Running Coach creates a training program after the user completes a running-level test. Galaxy Watch8 also offers personalized heart-rate zones, workout tracking, body-composition measurements using bioelectrical impedance analysis, food logging, medication reminders, stress tools, and mindfulness features.
For comfort or replacement, a Galaxy Watch8 replacement band is a practical accessory rather than an add-on every buyer needs. Match the band to the 40mm or 44mm case and verify the wrist-size range before ordering; third-party fit and materials can vary.
Software, Wear OS 6, and Gemini
Galaxy Watch8 launched with Wear OS 6 and Samsung’s One UI 8 Watch. One UI 8 Watch adds Multi-Info Tiles, a Now Bar, and notifications optimized for the smaller watch display. Samsung describes these changes as a way to surface health information, weather, events, and active tasks more quickly.
Samsung also describes Galaxy Watch8 as the first smartwatch to come out of the box with Gemini, Google’s AI assistant. Examples include starting a run and interacting by voice with calendar, reminder, clock, and Samsung Health apps.

Phone compatibility
Samsung states that Galaxy Watch8 works with phones running Android 12.0 or later with more than 1.5GB of memory. It is not an iPhone-compatible Apple Watch alternative. Even among Android phones, compatible devices and available features can vary by phone brand, country, carrier, and software.
The fullest experience is likely to come from pairing the watch with a Samsung Galaxy phone, especially for Samsung Health Monitor and features that require a compatible Galaxy smartphone. Before buying, check the exact requirements for the health functions you care about rather than assuming that Android compatibility means every feature is available.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Charging and accessory considerations
Galaxy Watch8 uses WPC-based wireless charging. Samsung’s testing documentation identifies a Galaxy Watch Magnetic Fast Charging USB-C Cable in its test setup. Buyers replacing a lost cable or adding a travel charger should look for Samsung-compatible magnetic charging hardware and confirm compatibility with Galaxy Watch8.
A Galaxy Watch8 charger can be useful as a spare for travel or a second charging location, but do not assume that every generic Qi pad will charge the watch correctly. Confirm the charger’s stated compatibility, connector arrangement, and included power requirements before purchasing.
Galaxy Watch8 vs. Galaxy Watch8 Classic
The standard Galaxy Watch8 and Galaxy Watch8 Classic are different products:
| Feature | Galaxy Watch8 | Galaxy Watch8 Classic |
|---|---|---|
| Positioning | Everyday wellness and fitness model | More traditional watch-style option |
| Sizes listed by Samsung | 40mm and 44mm | 46mm |
| Bezel | Cushion-shaped design; no rotating bezel listed for the standard model | Rotating bezel |
| Physical control | Standard Watch8 controls | Quick button |
Choose the Classic for its larger 46mm format, rotating bezel, and quick button—not because the 40mm and 44mm Watch8 versions are merely smaller Classic cases.
Should you buy the Samsung Galaxy Watch8?
Buy the Galaxy Watch8 if you use an Android phone, particularly a Samsung Galaxy phone, and want a current Wear OS smartwatch with extensive sleep, wellness, and workout tools. The 3nm processor, dual-frequency GPS, thinner design, and Wear OS 6 software are the main platform-level attractions.
