No—the Samsung Galaxy Watch7 does not independently monitor blood glucose. Samsung’s official Galaxy Watch7 specifications list heart-rate monitoring, ECG, blood oxygen, body-composition analysis, temperature sensing, sleep-apnea detection, cycle tracking, and an AGEs Index. They do not list a glucose sensor or a function that produces blood-glucose readings.
The confusion came from reports in 2024 about Samsung’s metabolic-health ambitions and apparent AGEs Index interface elements in Samsung Health. That was meaningful evidence that Samsung was exploring metabolic indicators, but it was not proof that the Galaxy Watch7 could measure glucose continuously or non-invasively.
What the Galaxy Watch7 can actually measure

Samsung Health Monitor also supports functions such as irregular-heart-rhythm notifications and blood-pressure monitoring on compatible devices and in supported regions. Blood-pressure monitoring requires calibration with a third-party upper-arm cuff. It is not a glucose feature, and it should not be treated as a replacement for medical evaluation.
Why people connected the Watch7 to blood-glucose monitoring
The rumor had a real starting point, but the conclusion went further than the evidence. Reporting around Samsung’s metabolic-health research described a possible effort to provide users with more information about diabetes risk, nutrition, and metabolic health. Around the same time, an inspection of the Android version of Samsung Health reportedly revealed interface elements related to an AGEs Index.
Advanced glycation end products, or AGEs, are compounds formed through chemical reactions involving sugars and proteins or fats. They are associated with metabolic processes and biological aging. An AGEs-related index may therefore be useful as one signal in a broader health context, depending on how Samsung defines and validates it.
But an AGEs Index is not the same thing as a glucose concentration. It does not automatically provide:
- a blood-glucose value such as 95 mg/dL or 5.3 mmol/L;
- a continuous glucose curve;
- a real-time high- or low-glucose alert; or
- information that should be used to calculate insulin or change diabetes treatment.
That distinction is the central point behind the Galaxy Watch7 rumor. A metabolic-health index can be related to glucose biology without measuring the amount of glucose in a person’s blood.

Samsung’s official feature list does not show a glucose sensor
Samsung’s official Galaxy Watch7 product information describes the watch’s upgraded health-sensor package and lists its supported health functions. The list includes ECG, heart monitoring, BIA, blood oxygen, temperature, sleep-related features, cycle tracking, personalized heart-rate zones, and the AGEs Index. A standalone blood-glucose sensor or blood-glucose-reading mode is absent.
That omission matters because a genuine glucose-monitoring feature would be a major medical and technical capability, not a minor software label. The available official documentation does not say that Galaxy Watch7 measures glucose through its optical, temperature, electrical, or body-composition sensors.
The FDA warning about smartwatch glucose claims
On February 21, 2024, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration warned consumers not to use smartwatches or smart rings that claim to measure or estimate blood glucose without piercing the skin. The FDA’s concern is practical: inaccurate glucose values could lead someone to make unsafe diabetes-management decisions, including taking an incorrect medication dose.
The FDA makes an important distinction between two very different arrangements:
- A smartwatch that measures glucose itself: The watch claims that its own sensors produce glucose values. The FDA says consumers should not rely on unauthorized products making this claim.
- A smartwatch that displays readings from an authorized glucose device: A continuous glucose monitor or other glucose-measuring device collects the data, while a phone or watch acts as a screen.
The second arrangement does not make the smartwatch a glucose sensor. It is simply displaying data supplied by a separate device.

Can a Galaxy Watch7 display data from a CGM?
If you need actual glucose readings, the relevant product category is an authorized glucose meter or continuous glucose monitor—not the Galaxy Watch7’s built-in sensors. For example, the Dexcom G7 continuous glucose monitoring system is a separate glucose-measuring device whose readings can be displayed on supported phones and, in some configurations, smartwatches.
Compatibility must be checked carefully. Dexcom’s official documentation makes support dependent on the exact phone, operating-system version, app version, watch model, and software configuration. The current compatibility information does not establish the Galaxy Watch7 as a native, officially listed direct-to-watch target in every region or setup.

Before buying, check the current official compatibility lists for:
- the exact Galaxy Watch7 model and operating system;
- the Samsung phone or other phone used with it;
- the Dexcom app and its supported software version;
- your country or region; and
- whether the desired setup supports direct watch display or only phone-based viewing.
Even when the display arrangement works, the CGM remains the device measuring glucose. The watch is not generating the glucose value.
What this means for buyers
Buy the Galaxy Watch7 for its broader smartwatch and health features, not for non-invasive glucose monitoring. It can be a reasonable choice if you want functions such as ECG, heart-rate tracking, sleep features, body-composition estimates, blood oxygen, temperature-related tracking, and Samsung’s AGEs Index where supported.

Do not buy it expecting a glucose number, continuous glucose trend, or diabetes-management alert from the watch alone. If glucose monitoring is medically important, use a clinician-recommended meter or authorized CGM and follow that device’s instructions.
In short: the Samsung Galaxy Watch7 is a real health and fitness smartwatch, but it is not a standalone blood-glucose monitor. Samsung’s AGEs Index may have helped start the rumor, yet it is not interchangeable with glucose measurement.
