Samsung’s fifth One UI 8 Watch beta for the Galaxy Watch 7 was a limited, historical beta release—not the latest software update in 2026. Reported as firmware ZYI4, the Wear OS 6-based build was initially available only in South Korea and focused on fixing six stability and usability problems rather than introducing a major new feature set.
The details below describe that beta stage and its reported availability at the time. Access depended on beta enrollment, country, watch model, carrier variant and Samsung’s staged rollout.

What Samsung One UI 8 Watch Beta 5 changed
The Korean changelog, translated and paraphrased in the release report, listed six fixes for Galaxy Watch 7 owners:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Exercise sessions and medication reminders: Workouts should no longer end unexpectedly when a medication reminder appears during exercise.
- Blank health tiles: The update addressed cases in which health information tiles appeared empty.
- General stuttering: Samsung improved intermittent sluggishness or stuttering during normal watch use.
- Sleep-mode display behavior: The build addressed cases where raising the wrist to wake the display, or Always-On Display behavior, was forcibly disabled after leaving sleep mode.
- Always-On Display time accuracy: It addressed situations in which the displayed time did not match the current time when the screen was activated while Always-On Display was running.
- Timer app failures: The Timer app was fixed in cases where it failed to run.
These are targeted corrections, not guarantees that every health-tile, workout, display or Timer problem disappeared. For example, an exercise session could still fail for an unrelated reason such as a crash, low battery or another application bug.

Beta 5 was primarily a stability update
Beta 5 should not automatically be credited with every feature associated with the broader One UI 8 Watch beta. Earlier coverage of One UI 8 Watch described changes such as a Personalized Apps screen, frequently used apps appearing at the top of the drawer, a list view and usage-based featured-app controls. Those are broader beta features, not confirmed Beta 5 additions. Android Authority’s coverage discusses that wider feature story.
The reported Beta 5 build also does not establish improved battery life. The available changelog focused on bug fixes and did not promise a battery-performance gain.
Who could install firmware ZYI4?
The release report identified Beta 5 as initially available only in South Korea. That meant owners in the United States and other markets could not assume that the same build was available to them.

Eligible users generally needed a Galaxy Watch 7 enrolled in the relevant Samsung beta program, a Samsung Account and Samsung Members. Eligibility could also vary by country, Bluetooth or LTE model, carrier variant, operating-system branch and rollout stage. Samsung’s One UI beta documentation lists country and device restrictions and notes that beta updates are distributed gradually; the countries listed for beta programs do not prove that every One UI 8 Watch build was offered in every market.
How eligible owners checked for Beta 5
For an enrolled Galaxy Watch 7, the reported update path was:
- Pair the watch with the phone.
- Open Galaxy Wearable.
- Tap Watch settings.
- Tap Watch software update.
- Select Download and install.
Samsung’s general device path may also appear as Settings → Software update → Download and install. Joining a beta does not necessarily make the update appear immediately: enrollment and delivery are separate steps, and Samsung may stage the rollout.

Prepare before installing beta software
- Charge the watch sufficiently and keep it connected to the phone during the update.
- Use Wi-Fi for the download.
- Update Galaxy Wearable, Samsung Members, Samsung Health and the watch plug-ins first.
- Back up important phone data before entering the beta. Samsung recommends using Smart Switch on a computer because unexpected beta behavior can cause data loss.
- Expect possible battery drain, app incompatibility, incomplete features, crashes or other unexpected behavior.
- Do not use beta health readings as medical diagnoses.
Should you install One UI 8 Watch Beta 5?
Install only if you are comfortable testing unfinished software. Beta 5 made sense for an enrolled owner affected by one of the six listed bugs, or for someone who wanted to test One UI 8 Watch and provide feedback before the stable release.
Waiting was the safer choice for anyone who relies on the watch for sleep tracking, workouts, notifications, payments or health-related features. The build was initially limited to South Korea, and its documented value was corrective rather than a compelling feature upgrade. A higher beta number also does not guarantee perfect stability or better battery life.
Rollback: leaving the beta is not enough
Samsung distinguishes between withdrawing from the beta program and removing beta software. To leave the program:
Rank #4
- Next-Generation 3nm Processor: Exynos W1000 chipset delivers significantly faster performance and smoother app navigation.
- Open Samsung Members.
- Go to Settings → Beta program settings → Withdraw from beta program.
- Use the PC version of Smart Switch to roll back to the previous approved release.
- Restore available data from a Smart Switch backup.
Rollback resets the watch and removes beta-generated data, so do not begin without accepting that consequence. If installation leaves the watch unusable, Samsung directs users to a Samsung Service Center rather than unofficial firmware files or recovery packages.

The update does not appear
Check that the watch is enrolled, the correct Samsung Account is signed in, and the device and carrier variant are eligible. Update Galaxy Wearable and Samsung Members, reopen the beta detail page, restart both devices and check again over Wi-Fi. A staged rollout or regional restriction may simply mean the build has not reached the watch.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsInstallation fails
Keep the watch on its charger, confirm adequate battery and storage, update the companion software, restart the phone and watch, then retry. Do not sideload a firmware package from another region unless you fully understand the risks of advanced flashing. If the watch becomes unusable, contact Samsung service.

A health tile remains blank
Blank health tiles were one of the reported targets of Beta 5, but the changelog indicates an improvement to a known issue—not a guarantee that every blank-tile failure was resolved. Check Samsung Health connectivity and permissions before treating it as the same bug.
Beta 5’s place in the Galaxy Watch 7 software timeline
The Beta 5 report describes a past stage of Samsung’s One UI 8 Watch testing. It should not be presented as the latest Galaxy Watch 7 software in September 2026. Samsung’s beta documentation does not promise a fixed stable-release date, so a firm launch date should not be inferred from the beta number.
The Galaxy Watch 7 product page now presents the watch as an established product. Buying another Watch 7 solely to obtain Beta 5 would make little sense, and purchasing a Watch 7 never guaranteed access to a particular beta build.
Bottom line for Watch 7 owners
One UI 8 Watch Beta 5, reported as build ZYI4, was a South Korea-limited beta focused on six bug fixes: workout interruptions from medication reminders, blank health tiles, stuttering, sleep-mode display behavior, Always-On Display time accuracy and Timer failures. It was useful for willing beta testers, but stable-software users were better served by waiting. Availability was regional and staged, and anyone rolling back needed to withdraw through Samsung Members and use Smart Switch, with a watch reset expected.
