The company apologized, said it would strengthen inspections, and delayed some pre-orders—including the US Samsung.com shipping estimate, which moved from July 24 to August 28, 2024.
This was a temporary quality-control intervention, not a publicly documented permanent cancellation or formal safety recall. Samsung resumed shipments in August 2024, although customers with defective units were advised to contact Samsung support or an authorized service center.

In the United States, Samsung’s listed shipping date reportedly changed from July 24 to August 28, 2024. That was a US Samsung.com estimate, not a universal worldwide release date: delivery schedules and remedies varied by country, retailer, and purchase channel.

Samsung described the reports as involving a “limited number of early production devices.” It apologized to pre-order customers and said it would reinforce quality inspections and re-examine products before restarting distribution. Android Authority reported Samsung’s statement and the revised US shipping date.
The main reported problem: ear tips tearing
The clearest recurring complaint involved the removable silicone ear tips. Some early users and reviewers said a tip could tear or separate when they tried to remove it from the earbud.
That is a meaningful defect because users need to remove the tips when changing sizes, cleaning the earbuds, or replacing worn parts. In the reported cases, part of the silicone could remain attached to the earbud nozzle, making removal more difficult.
The reports did not establish that every Buds3 Pro had the problem. They also did not establish a universal safety hazard or a specific defect rate. Samsung’s public description was broader—quality-control reports affecting a limited number of early-production devices—while the torn-tip accounts came primarily from users, reviewers, and media coverage. Android Authority’s explanation of the suspension covers the ear-tip reports and Samsung’s customer guidance.
Other complaints were reported, but not all were confirmed by Samsung
Users and reviewers also described other inconsistencies in some early units, including:
- Uneven or inconsistent LED-strip finishing.
- Alignment or assembly problems.
- Differences in appearance between white and silver units.
- Possible variations in fit, active noise cancellation, or build quality.
These complaints should be kept separate from Samsung’s confirmed position. Samsung acknowledged quality-control reports generally; it did not publicly confirm that every individual complaint caused the sales pause. Online reports also do not prove that all white units were affected or that all silver units were unaffected.

What Samsung officially did
Samsung’s response had three clear elements:
- It paused distribution. Shipments and retail availability were temporarily stopped or delayed in affected markets.
- It apologized. Samsung acknowledged the inconvenience to pre-order customers and treated the reports seriously.
- It added inspection and review steps. The company said it would reinforce quality checks and conduct another review of products being produced or prepared for release.
The available reporting does not provide a detailed public description of a manufacturing change that eliminated the problem. Therefore, it is more accurate to say Samsung resumed shipping after additional inspection than to claim that Samsung disclosed a specific technical fix.

Pre-order customers experienced different outcomes depending on their location and retailer. The widely reported US Samsung.com estimate moved to August 28, 2024, while other retailers and regions could show different dates.
A Samsung.com order, a Best Buy order, a carrier bundle, and an order from another country were not necessarily governed by the same cancellation, return, or replacement process. Customers should rely on the order page and the retailer’s written communication rather than assume that the US date applied everywhere.
By August 12, 2024, pre-order customers had begun receiving Buds3 Pro units after the delay, indicating that the suspension was temporary rather than a permanent product withdrawal. Shipping resumption was reported by Android Authority.
Was the Galaxy Buds3 Pro recalled?
The available evidence supports calling this a temporary sales and shipment halt, not a formal safety recall.

However, the supplied reporting does not establish a government recall notice or a manufacturer-issued blanket safety recall covering every Buds3 Pro.

That distinction matters. A shipment suspension can allow a company to inspect inventory and address quality concerns before wider distribution. It does not, by itself, mean that every unit is dangerous or defective.
What owners with damaged ear tips should do
If a Buds3 Pro ear tip tears or does not remain securely attached:
- Stop pulling forcefully. Do not use excessive force to remove silicone that has separated.
- Inspect the nozzle. Check whether any piece of silicone remains attached to the earbud.
- Stop using the earbud if necessary. In particular, do not continue wearing it if the tip is damaged, will not stay attached, or could remain in your ear.
- Contact Samsung support or an authorized service center. Explain the defect and ask what remedy applies in your market.
- Keep documentation. Retain the receipt or order record and take photographs of the damaged tip and earbud.
Possible remedies—including replacement tips, a replacement earbud, repair, or a refund—depended on the country, retailer, return period, warranty terms, and Samsung’s assessment of the problem. There was no single universal remedy established by the available reports.

No evidence in the available material shows that every unit was defective. Samsung characterized the issue as involving a limited number of early-production devices. Reports may have appeared concentrated in certain batches or color variants, but that is not enough to declare one color unsafe or another color safe.
Nor does receiving a unit after the delay guarantee that it is flawless. The later shipment only shows that Samsung judged its additional inspection or corrective process sufficient to restart distribution.

As of the August 2026 checks cited in the supplied sources, Samsung still listed the Galaxy Buds3 Pro on its US site at $249.99, although prices and inventory can change. The newer Galaxy Buds4 Pro was also listed from $249.99, making the Buds3 Pro difficult to justify at full official price solely because it is available.

The Galaxy Buds3 Pro product page remains relevant to owners and buyers looking for the model discussed here, but it is now an older 2024 product. Remaining stock may vary by country and retailer, and older inventory can come with less convenient return or support options.
Should you buy the Buds3 Pro now?
The Buds3 Pro can make sense if you find a substantial discount, buy from a retailer with a clear return policy, or specifically want this model’s design and Galaxy-device integration. Before buying, check the seller, production or inventory details where available, return window, warranty coverage, and the procedure for reporting a defective ear tip.
At the same official US starting price, the Galaxy Buds4 Pro is the more straightforward choice for someone seeking Samsung’s current premium earbuds. Samsung also lists the less expensive Galaxy Buds4 at $179.99 on its US buying page, although it is positioned below the Pro model and is not a direct feature-for-feature replacement.
These prices are market- and date-specific. Samsung promotions, financing offers, inventory, and regional availability can change, so treat them as signals rather than guaranteed prices.
The bottom line
Samsung really did halt or delay Galaxy Buds3 Pro shipments and sales in July 2024 after early-production quality reports, especially complaints about ear tips tearing during removal. It apologized and increased inspections, then resumed shipping in August.

The evidence does not support saying that every Buds3 Pro was defective or that Samsung issued a formal blanket recall. For owners with a damaged tip, the practical response is to stop using the affected earbud and contact Samsung or the retailer. For buyers in 2026, the Buds3 Pro is best considered only at a meaningful discount; at full price, Samsung’s newer Buds4 Pro is the more current alternative.
