The original PhoneArena report was a forward-looking rumor story. Citing reported expectations, including a DigiTimes-linked supply-chain report, it said Samsung could introduce a second-generation Galaxy Ring and preview AR smart glasses at Galaxy Unpacked 2025.

The rumored Galaxy Ring 2 features included possible new sizes, more accurate health sensors, stronger AI functions and battery life potentially exceeding seven days. The story also mentioned possible sizes 14 and 15. None of those details were Samsung specifications or launch commitments.

“Galaxy Unpacked 2025” referred to more than one event
A key source of confusion is the event name. Samsung held at least two major Galaxy Unpacked presentations in 2025:
- January 22, 2025: Samsung’s Galaxy S25-focused Unpacked event.
- July 9, 2025: Samsung’s foldables and wearables event in Brooklyn.
The December 2024 prediction was primarily aimed at the January 22 Galaxy S25 launch event, not solely at the later summer presentation. Samsung’s official Unpacked archive confirms both dates.
What happened at the January 22 event?
The January event centered on Samsung’s Galaxy S25 generation and its associated Galaxy AI strategy. Samsung’s official archive confirms that the event took place, but the reviewed official material does not substantiate a Galaxy Ring 2 announcement or an AR-smart-glasses reveal there.

That is a more precise conclusion than saying no private prototype, brief mention or backstage demonstration could have existed. It means the predicted products were not confirmed in the official event material reviewed for this retrospective.
What Samsung announced on July 9
Samsung’s second major 2025 Unpacked event focused on new foldables, watches and software. The company’s official recap lists:

- Galaxy Z Flip7
- Galaxy Z Flip7 FE
- Galaxy Watch8 series
- One UI 8
- Galaxy AI and health-related wearable integration
The recap does not list Galaxy Ring 2 or AR smart glasses among the unveiled products. That omission does not prove that Samsung showed nothing privately, but it does mean the rumored products were not part of the confirmed public product lineup in that official recap.

Was Galaxy Ring 2 real?

The 2026 statement, reported by TechRadar, supports continued strategic interest in the category. It does not confirm the name “Galaxy Ring 2,” a launch date, price, sizes, battery life, sensors or availability.
Accordingly, the rumored specifications remain unverified: the additional sizes, seven-plus-day battery claim, sensor improvements and upgraded AI functions should not be presented as features of a shipping product.

What happened to Samsung’s glasses?
Samsung’s smart-eyewear plans eventually became public, but not at the 2025 Unpacked events established by this report.
In 2026, Samsung coverage described the introduction of intelligent eyewear and AI glasses as part of the company’s broader mobile-AI strategy. Samsung also described partnerships involving Gentle Monster and Warby Parker in its coverage of the product direction. Its engineering material is available through Samsung Mobile Press.

- Samsung Galaxy Watch: a better fit for screen-based notifications, workout controls and full smartwatch functions, though it is larger and generally requires more frequent charging than a ring.
