Seiko lists a run of 9,999 pieces for each US version. Both use automatic Caliber 4R36; the main visible difference is the dial, black on the SRPL03 and silver on the SRPL05.
What are the SRPL03 and SRPL05?
Seiko describes the watches as modern interpretations of a Seiko 5 Sports design popular from the late 1960s through the early 1970s. The re-creation brings back the older Seiko 5 Sports logo at 12 o’clock and takes cues from the historical case shape and bracelet. Seiko says the bracelet materials were updated for daily wear.
Each version comes with a sporty retro leather strap as well as a numbered “Limited Edition” caseback and a special box inspired by the original packaging. Seiko Watch Corporation describes the design as “Reproduced in a size and shape as close as possible to the original,” and says it is powered by Caliber 4R36. Seiko’s US product page identifies SRPL03 and SRPL05.

What are the published specifications?
Seiko Japan’s published specification sheet is for the Japan-market SBSA269, a related heritage limited-edition reference. Its measurements and ratings should not automatically be treated as verified specifications for US references SRPL03 and SRPL05.

These figures are published for SBSA269 by Seiko Japan. The US product page names the same caliber for SRPL03 and SRPL05, but the cited sources do not confirm that every measurement and rating above applies to those US models.

When were they released, and what did they cost?
Seiko USA lists SRPL03 and SRPL05 as July 2024 releases. Seiko Watch Japan announced its market versions on June 14, 2024, with release scheduled for July 6, 2024, and a recommended tax-inclusive price of ¥59,400. The Japanese announcement concerns Japan-market models and pricing; it is not a current US price. Seiko Watch Japan’s announcement provides those release details.
Seiko Japan’s SBSA269 product page lists ¥59,400 including tax. The page showed that model as unavailable when reviewed, which does not determine availability in other markets. For a purchase today, confirm the exact reference, seller, price, and stock with the retailer rather than relying on 2024 launch figures.

Which version should you choose?
Based on the published information, choose between SRPL03 and SRPL05 primarily by dial preference: black for the SRPL03 or silver for the SRPL05. Both are listed with the same movement and edition size. If case dimensions or water resistance are deciding factors, verify the specifications for the exact US reference; the detailed figures above are for Japan-market SBSA269.
