Its published specifications include a 40.2 mm case, approximately 72 hours of power reserve and 10 bar water resistance. Seiko’s regional pages identify the model as SPB499; some listings use SPB499J1.
What makes the SPB499’s dial distinctive?
Seiko describes the dial as handmade with urushi lacquer. The UK Seiko Boutique says the lacquer is applied in repeated layers and polished, and describes the numerals as gold-colored. These are craft details from the retailer’s description, rather than claims based on an independent inspection.
The dial combines Roman numerals and a rail-style minute track with a 24-hour subdial at 6 o’clock. Seiko Luxe links the Roman numeral and rail design to its Timekeeper pocket watch. Seiko cautions that handmade dials can show slight color differences and minute distortions, and that no two are exactly alike. That is a disclosed consequence of handcrafting—not a promise that every dial will show a noticeable variation.

What the case dimensions mean for fit
The 40.2 mm diameter gives only part of the fit picture. The 48 mm lug-to-lug measurement describes the watch’s length across the wrist, while its 12.1 mm thickness affects how it sits under a cuff. Consider all three together, and compare them with a watch you already find comfortable; the published dimensions alone cannot establish how it will fit a particular wrist.
Movement and everyday use
The 6R5H is an automatic movement that can also be wound by hand. Seiko lists a stop-seconds function, which halts the seconds hand when setting the time, and a 24-hour hand displayed on the subdial at 6 o’clock. The listed reserve is approximately 72 hours, so the watch may continue running for about three days when fully wound, though “approximately” matters: the figure is not a guarantee of identical runtime in every use.

Seiko’s stated precision range is +25 to -15 seconds per day. It is the manufacturer’s published specification, not a measured result for an individual watch.
SPB499 versus the related HCC006
SPB499 and HCC006 are distinct Seiko watches, not alternate names for the same model. Seiko’s August 13, 2026 release introduced the Laurel-inspired HCC005 enamel and HCC006 urushi models, planned as continuous-production watches at Seiko Boutiques and selected retailers worldwide beginning in September 2026. That launch story applies to HCC006, not SPB499.
