Its appeal rests as much on the carefully fired and finished dial as on the mechanical movement behind it. Seiko now marks the model sold out on its product page, so its 2019 European launch price should not be mistaken for a current resale price.
What makes the SPB093 distinctive?
The SPB093 brings Arita porcelain—a Japanese craft tradition Seiko dates to the early 17th century—to a watch dial. Arita porcelain became known overseas as Imari ware, named for the port from which much of it was shipped. Seiko says the SPB093’s dial was made in Arita by an experienced manufacturer that has produced porcelain since 1830, and names master craftsman Hiroyuki Hashiguchi in its account. Seiko’s 2019 announcement describes the material and production process.

The dial is not simply a porcelain-colored surface. Seiko developed a newer porcelain material for the strength and flexibility needed in a watch dial, and says it is “more than four times harder than the usual material.” That is Seiko’s claim; the announcement does not provide a test method, so it should not be read as an independently documented measurement.
How Seiko makes the Arita porcelain dial
The recessed power-reserve display gives the dial a sculpted profile, and the manufacturing sequence has to preserve its shape while creating precise openings for the hands and date.
- Molding and first firing: A special mold forms the porcelain, including the depth around the power-reserve display. The base is dried and fired at 1,300 degrees, according to Seiko’s 2019 account.
- Hand-applied glaze: Craftsmen apply the glaze by hand, then fire the dial again.
- Cutting the openings: The date and hand openings are laser cut after glazing.
- Final firing: Another firing smooths the cut surfaces.
Those stages help explain why the dial is the SPB093’s central feature: the material, glaze, recessed form and finished openings all contribute to the finished face.
SPB093 specifications
Seiko’s 2019 launch announcement lists the following specifications. Case dimensions differ in a regional official listing, so the source and market matter when comparing measurements.
| Specification | SPB093 |
|---|---|
| Movement | Seiko caliber 6R27, automatic |
| Displays | Date subdial at six o’clock; power-reserve indicator at nine o’clock |
| Power reserve | 45 hours, as stated in Seiko’s 2019 launch announcement |
| Case diameter and thickness | 40.6 mm diameter and 14.1 mm thick in Seiko’s 2019 launch announcement; Seiko Philippines lists its SPB093J1 at 40 mm by 13.4 mm |
| Crystal | Dual-curved sapphire |
| Water resistance | 10 bar |
| Dial | Arita porcelain |
The dimensions are reported differently by Seiko’s 2019 announcement and the Seiko Philippines official-store listing. The available information does not explain the discrepancy; avoid treating the two measurements as interchangeable.

The two Arita-dial Presage references share several headline features, but their movements and stated power reserves differ.

|---|---|---|---|
| SPB093 | 6R27 | 45 hours, per Seiko’s 2019 announcement | Arita porcelain dial, dual-curved sapphire crystal, 10 bar water resistance |
| SPB095 | 6R35 | 70 hours, as stated by Seiko | Arita porcelain dial, dual-curved sapphire crystal, 10 bar water resistance |
Reference matters when identifying a listing: the SPB093’s 6R27 layout includes a date subdial and power-reserve indicator, while the paired SPB095 is specified with the 6R35. Do not assume a listing for one reference describes the other.
Price and availability
At launch in 2019, Seiko gave an approximate recommended European retail price of €1,950. This is a historical launch figure, not a current asking price or estimate of second-hand value. Seiko’s Arita Porcelain Dial product page currently labels the SPB093 “Sold out”; the Philippines official-store listing also marks the SPB093J1 sold out. Those listings do not establish whether another retailer or a pre-owned seller has one in stock.
If considering a pre-owned example, confirm the reference on the watch and listing, then check condition, included papers and warranty terms with the seller. Availability and resale pricing depend on the individual offer; the launch MSRP is not a reliable substitute.
