The Seiko Prospex PADI Samurai SRPB99J1 is a 200 m-rated automatic diver with a 43.8 mm stainless-steel case, 4R35 movement and date display. Seiko publishes detailed specifications for the reference, but the available sources do not establish a current local price or whether it is still available new. This review explains what the watch offers on paper and how to assess a listing without confusing it with other SRPB99-family or newer Samurai models.
What is the SRPB99J1?
Seiko’s Indonesia product page identifies the exact reference as SRPB99J1, while its page heading uses the shorter model name SRPB99. Seiko places it in the Prospex Sea collection and identifies it as a PADI special edition. Keep the full J1 reference in searches and when checking seller listings: the family name alone does not confirm that a listing is for this exact variant. Seiko’s SRPB99J1 product page also lists a special-edition marking on the caseback.
Seiko UK explains the Samurai nickname through the case’s angular design, which it says evokes cuts made by a samurai sword. That is a design description, not a separate technical feature. Seiko UK’s Samurai collection page shows newer collection models, including PADI references SRPL53K1 and SRPJ93K1; they should not be treated as direct equivalents without comparing their full specifications.

These specifications come from Seiko’s model-specific SRPB99J1 page. The published water-resistance description is “200 m / 660 ft diver’s”; the page does not establish a particular certification standard or test protocol.
How the size and features may matter to a buyer
Case dimensions
At 43.8 mm across and 12.8 mm thick, the listed case dimensions are useful when comparing the SRPB99J1 with watches you already own. Those figures do not by themselves determine how it will feel on a particular wrist; case shape, lug geometry and personal fit preferences matter too. The source provides a 22 mm lug width, but not a complete fit assessment.

Movement and everyday functions
The 4R35 is listed as automatic with manual winding, with approximately 41 hours of power reserve, stop seconds and a date. The reserve is an approximate manufacturer figure, not a guarantee of a particular running time in every use pattern. Seiko’s published page does not supply an accuracy result for an individual watch, so this review cannot make a claim about measured timekeeping.
Dive-oriented features
Seiko lists 200 m / 660 ft diver’s water resistance, a unidirectional rotating bezel and a screw-down crown. These are the manufacturer’s stated specifications; they should not be read as a substitute for checking a particular used watch’s condition or service history. The source also specifies Hardlex crystal and LumiBrite on the hands and indexes, but does not provide independent durability or lume-duration measurements.

SRPB99J1 price and availability
There is no supported universal current price for the exact SRPB99J1 in the available listings. Seiko’s official Indonesia product page does not display a price. A Kuwait distributor listing for SRPB99 showed 175.000 KD and was marked out of stock when accessed on October 8, 2026; it is not proof of a current price or availability for SRPB99J1 in another market. Seiko UK’s collection page displayed eight Samurai entries priced £430–£600 when accessed on October 8, 2026. Those are prices for the models shown on that current collection page, not a quoted SRPB99J1 price. Treat them only as broad UK collection context, not as a valuation for this discontinued or otherwise unavailable exact reference. How to assess a listing
- Confirm the full reference is SRPB99J1 rather than relying on “SRPB99” or “PADI Samurai” alone.
- Compare like with like: new-old-stock, used and current models are different purchase categories.
- Check the seller’s reputation, the watch’s condition, what is included (bracelet, box and papers), warranty coverage, shipping and local taxes.
- Verify stock and the asking price in your own market at the time of purchase; a regional listing, especially one marked out of stock, is not a reliable global benchmark.
Bracelet and strap sizing
The official specification gives the SRPB99J1 a 22 mm lug width, so searching for nominal 22 mm straps is a reasonable starting point. Lug width alone does not confirm that a particular bracelet, end link, clasp or aftermarket strap will fit the case. Before buying, verify the attachment geometry and strap length against the exact watch.
Is the SRPB99J1 worth considering?
On paper, the SRPB99J1 combines a substantial stainless-steel case, a 4R35 automatic movement, date and stop-seconds functions, and Seiko’s stated 200 m / 660 ft diver’s water resistance. Its appeal is clearest for someone specifically seeking this PADI Samurai reference, rather than simply any current Samurai. Whether a particular example is good value depends on its exact identity, condition, seller, included items and local asking price; the available evidence does not establish a current price for the exact reference.
