What is the Seiko Prospex SLA063?
ShopSeiko identifies the SLA063 as the “1970 Heritage Diver’s Limited Edition,” inspired by the Northern Lights. The page states that production is limited to 500 pieces, each with an individually engraved serial number on the caseback. Those details make edition identity and documentation worth checking when buying: confirm the reference is SLA063 and inspect the caseback for its serial engraving.
The watch pairs that heritage positioning with a blue unidirectional bezel and a coated stainless-steel case and bracelet. ShopSeiko lists an additional black silicone strap in the package. The listing describes a curved sapphire crystal with an inner anti-reflective coating, a screwdown crown and caseback, a date display, and LumiBrite hands and markers. ShopSeiko’s SLA063 product page is the source for these model-specific details.
How large is the SLA063?
ShopSeiko lists the case at 41.3 mm in diameter, 47.6 mm in “length,” and 13.1 mm thick. The listing uses “length”; it is safest not to treat that figure as a standardized lug-to-lug measurement without another reliable model-specific confirmation.

What movement is inside, and what do its specifications mean?
The listed caliber is Seiko’s 8L35, an automatic movement that can also be wound by hand. ShopSeiko specifies 26 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and approximately 50 hours of power reserve. These are published movement specifications, not timing results for an individual SLA063. Seiko’s 8L35 movement page describes the movement family but does not establish the performance of a particular watch.

In practical terms, the stated reserve gives an indication of how long the movement can run when fully wound and left off the wrist, subject to actual conditions. It should not be read as a promise about the condition or timekeeping of a specific used example.
Is the SLA063 a good dive watch?
ShopSeiko states a 200m diver’s water-resistance rating and says the watch follows ISO standards for scuba diving. That is the manufacturer’s statement as presented on the product page; it is not independent proof that a particular watch has passed a recent water-resistance test. For actual diving, a buyer should have the individual watch’s condition and seals assessed by a qualified service provider before relying on its water resistance, especially if its service history is unknown.

The page also lists a unidirectional bezel and LumiBrite hands and markers, features relevant to dive-watch use. They do not substitute for checking the bezel’s operation, legibility, crystal and case condition, and water resistance on the specific example.
How much does it cost, and what should buyers verify?
ShopSeiko’s US-facing page displayed a price of $3,100 USD when accessed in 2026. That is a displayed page price, not a survey of completed transactions or confirmation of current stock. Check the live listing and seller details before purchase; the available information does not establish present availability.

There is a model-identity trap in the ShopSeiko page: its SLA063-specific opening describes the Northern Lights-inspired, 500-piece edition, but lower-page bullets refer to a “1965 Diver’s Watch Modern Reinterpretation Save the Ocean” and a 1,300-piece limited edition. Those lower details match the distinct SLA065, not the SLA063.

Seiko’s January 11, 2023 announcement describes the SLA065 as a Save the Ocean model inspired by underwater archaeology and an astrolabe, with a 1,300-piece run. Its shared figures—including a 41.3mm diameter, 13.1mm thickness, 8L35 movement, approximately 50-hour reserve, and 200m diver’s rating—do not make it the same watch. Verdict: who should consider the SLA063?
The published case dimensions, 8L35 movement, 200m diver’s rating, and limited-edition identity give prospective buyers concrete facts to weigh. Whether it is worth the displayed price depends on the buyer’s priorities and the specific watch’s price, condition, and completeness. The available evidence supports a specification-led assessment, not a claim of superior comfort, accuracy, or dive performance.
