Its appeal is the contrast between the all-black case and bezel and those legibility-focused accents; Seiko’s listed 45.0 mm diameter and 13.4 mm thickness are substantial figures to consider, not a guarantee of how it will fit any individual wrist.
What the SRPC49K is
The SRPC49K is a blacked-out variant of Seiko’s Prospex Turtle-style diver, released as part of the 2018 Black Series. Time+Tide’s 30 November 2017 video review describes the watch as a Turtle variant and highlights its mixed matte and gloss finishes, monochromatic bezel, orange minute hand and silicone strap. Seiko’s own SRPC49 specification page uses the reference SRPC49; its Black Series collection page also lists SRPC49.
Buyers may encounter the suffixes SRPC49K or SRPC49K1 in retailer listings. The official Philippine store, for example, identifies its listing as SRPC49K1. Check the full reference, market and condition on a listing rather than assuming suffixes prove a different watch or that every listing is equivalent.
SRPC49K specifications
These are Seiko’s published specifications, not independent performance test results. The maker describes the water-resistance rating as diver’s water resistance.

| Functions | Stop seconds; day and date display |
| Case diameter | 45.0 mm |

Dimensions alone cannot establish how the watch will wear: wrist shape, strap adjustment and personal preference all matter. The 22 mm lug distance is a useful interface measurement, but it does not by itself verify the fit or quality of any particular aftermarket strap.
Design: black case, orange minute hand
The SRPC49K’s defining choice is restraint with one conspicuous accent. Time+Tide notes a monochromatic bezel and a mix of matte and glossy surfaces on the black-coated case. On the dial, the orange minute hand stands apart from the warm-toned LumiBrite plots and hands; the day/date window preserves the everyday calendar function associated with the 4R36.

Seiko says the 2018 Black Series was inspired by night diving, describing the black hard coating, orange minute hand and LumiBrite in that context. The manufacturer states: “The Seiko Prospex new ‘Black Series’ is inspired by the world of night diving, with functions which meet Seiko’s stringent standards for diver’s watches.” This explains the design intent; it is not independent verification of the watch’s performance.

Limited edition: what is established
Seiko’s Black Series page labels the 2018 collection a limited edition and includes SRPC49. Fratello’s 8 March 2018 hands-on report says the case back carried a limited-edition marking, but that the watches were not numbered and the production quantity was unclear to that writer. The available information does not establish a run size, and the limited-edition label alone does not prove present-day scarcity.

Who the SRPC49K suits
- Consider it if you want a distinctive black-coated diver with an orange minute-hand accent, day/date display and a silicone-strap presentation.
- Check carefully if case dimensions are decisive for you: Seiko lists 45.0 mm diameter and 13.4 mm thickness, but those numbers cannot predict fit on every wrist.
- Compare on the facts that matter to you: diameter and thickness, movement and calendar functions, water-resistance rating, crystal, strap interface and coating. The specifications here do not establish comparative performance against another diver.
