The main difference is edition status: Seiko limited the SRQ035 to 1,000 pieces and included an extra calfskin strap; the SRQ037 was introduced as a standard Prospex collection model. Their original U.S. prices were $3,200 and $3,000, respectively—not current market prices.

Seiko announced both watches on September 28, 2021, with availability planned for November. Its official U.S. announcement describes the SRQ037 as joining the main Prospex collection. That launch-era description does not establish whether either reference is currently in production or available to buy.
What the 8R46 movement offers
Both references use Seiko’s automatic Caliber 8R46. Seiko lists a column wheel and vertical clutch, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (8 beats per second), a 45-hour power reserve, and 34 jewels. The column wheel and vertical clutch are features of the chronograph mechanism; Seiko says they support the precision and durability associated with the 8R series.
The 8R46 has two sub-dials rather than the three used by the 8R48, with the date window at six o’clock. Seiko also credits MEMS technology with helping make the escapement strong and light, and with supporting precision stability. Those are manufacturer descriptions, not independent performance-test results. On its Speedtimer feature page, Seiko says the reset button returns the hands to zero instantly and in synchronization.

Shared case and design details
Seiko lists a 42.5 mm steel case that is 15.1 mm thick, with a steel bracelet; both have a super-hard coating. The watches have a double-curved sapphire crystal with an inner anti-reflective coating, a see-through case back, 10 bar water resistance, and 4,800 A/m magnetic resistance. These are Seiko’s stated specifications, not independently verified test results.
The dials connect the models to Seiko’s sports-timing history. The company describes the 1964 Crown Chronograph as Japan’s first chronograph wristwatch and says the new dial design subtly nods to it. Seiko specifically says the SRQ035 dial pays homage to the 1/5th-second stopwatch from 1964.

Which one makes more sense?
Choose the SRQ035 for the limited edition
The SRQ035 is the one to consider if the 1,000-piece limit, its specific dial treatment, or the included calfskin strap matters to you. Seiko’s announcement priced it $200 above the SRQ037 in the United States at launch. That difference is historical and does not predict today’s asking price or value.
Choose the SRQ037 if you want the standard-collection version
The SRQ037 shares the movement, case dimensions, and listed resistance specifications, while omitting the limited-edition designation. Seiko positioned it as the standard Prospex collection version at launch. The cited announcement does not state that it came with an extra strap.

For a present-day purchase, assess the individual watch
The 2021 announcement establishes original U.S. retail prices, not current prices, current inventory, production status, or used-market value. For a specific listing, compare the actual asking price and region, then check condition, included accessories, service history, and seller credibility. The cited specifications alone do not establish a particular watch’s condition or service needs.
