That debut model, MR. Grey Ref. 1041-A, later won the 2021 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) Horological Revelation Prize. The award was a category prize—not the GPHG’s top Aiguille d’Or.
How the Kickstarter launch unfolded
Furlan Marri’s campaign ran from March 10 to April 9, 2021, for 30 days. Kickstarter records 2,032 backers and CHF 1,088,206 pledged, compared with the campaign’s CHF 75,000 funding goal. The campaign offered physical rewards, including chronographs and Italian leather straps.
Furlan Marri’s official brand story says, “In just 35 seconds, our first watch was fully funded on Kickstarter.” That 35-second figure is the brand’s own account, rather than an independently verified timing.
Which watch won the GPHG?
The prize went to MR. Grey Ref. 1041-A. GPHG’s profile gives the watch a launch date of August 2021, and its official 2021 laureates release names it the winner of the Horological Revelation Prize. Furlan Marri describes the journey from Kickstarter launch to the prize as seven months; that is the brand’s phrasing, not a calculation from the campaign’s end date.

The Horological Revelation Prize recognizes an emerging watchmaking brand. It is distinct from the Aiguille d’Or, the GPHG’s top award. Furlan Marri’s win therefore marked a high-profile recognition for its early work, but it should not be described as winning the GPHG’s overall top prize.
What made MR. Grey distinctive
GPHG describes MR. Grey as a hybrid meca-quartz chronograph. In the profile’s explanation, this movement type combines a mechanical chronograph module with a quartz base. GPHG also notes that the construction was developed in Switzerland and Japan in the 1980s during the quartz crisis.

Why the story matters—and what it does not prove
The sequence is striking: a first campaign that substantially exceeded its funding goal, followed by a GPHG category win for the debut watch in the same year. The Kickstarter figures document early backing, while the award establishes that MR. Grey received formal recognition from the GPHG. Neither fact alone establishes how the brand has performed since 2021 or whether the watch can currently be purchased.
For readers comparing watches, MR. Grey’s source-documented points are its hybrid meca-quartz movement, 38 mm case, and 50 m water resistance. The campaign total and historical award-profile price describe 2021 events and should not be treated as present-day buying guidance.
