Yes—Seiko’s new Power Design Project chronographs make the panda literal: the subdials form eyes, the watch’s face has a nose and mouth, and the recessed stopwatch pushers suggest ears. Announced October 6, 2026, the limited editions are the white-dial HHK001P and pink-dial HHK002P. Seiko planned their release for November 7, 2026, at a Japanese recommended retail price of ¥83,600 including tax each.
How the panda design works
Rather than relying only on a black-and-white color scheme, Seiko builds panda cues into the chronograph’s layout. The drooping subdials read as eyes, while a nose and mouth sit at 6 o’clock. Recessed pushers operate the stopwatch and double as panda-like ears. Seiko says the embossed radial dial pattern suggests fur, and the hour and minute hands are shaped like bamboo leaves.
The tachymeter scale is labeled “SASAMETER,” a play on sasa, Japanese for bamboo leaves. Its function remains that of a conventional tachymeter: Seiko says it indicates speed based on the time taken to travel one kilometer. On the caseback, a panda is shown from behind, including its tail, alongside the words “LIMITED EDITION.” Seiko’s official Power Design Project Collection 2 description explains the design concept.

These quantities and prices are Seiko’s figures in its October 6, 2026 Japanese announcement. The pink HHK002P has the smaller announced run; both versions otherwise share the listed movement, dimensions and core stopwatch function. Each has a dial-coordinated strap that partly uses suede-like material to evoke fur, and Seiko says the presentation boxes differ by version.

At 43.0 mm across and 14.6 mm thick, these are substantial watches, so fit is worth considering alongside the playful design. Seiko’s accuracy figure is an average under the stated wearing and temperature conditions, not a guarantee for every wearer or environment.
Price, release plan and availability
Seiko announced a Japanese recommended retail price of ¥83,600 including tax for each watch, with a planned release date of November 7, 2026. At announcement time, reservations were scheduled to open at noon Japan time on October 7 through Seiko Dream Square, Seiko Boutiques and Seiko’s online store. Those were planned channels and dates—not confirmation of current inventory or remaining reservation slots. The stated price is specific to Japan; check a local Seiko listing for current regional pricing and availability.

Why Seiko made the panda literal
In the announcement, Seiko designer Kiyotaka Sakai frames the design around the question: “世の中のパンダウオッチは、実はパンダに似ていないのではないか” (“Do the panda watches out there really look like pandas?”—translated from the Japanese). Seiko identifies Sakai as a product designer who joined Seiko Watch Corporation in 2012, worked on watches for domestic and overseas markets, and currently works on Grand Seiko product design.
