Selten Grand Feu Enamel Review: Is the Dial Worth the Price?

The Selten Grand Feu Enamel is built around a hand-engraved enamel dial. Here’s how its dimensions, movement, wearing options, and historical launch pricing shape the value question.

The Selten Grand Feu Enamel is a 39mm automatic watch whose case and time-only layout are relatively restrained; its selling point is the hand-engraved, colorful enamel dial. It is most compelling for someone who wants that dial craft and is comfortable judging value against a Soprod movement, 50m stated water resistance, and a price that needs checking at checkout. The prices published at launch in 2025 are historical, not confirmed current offers.

What is the Selten Grand Feu Enamel?

Selten Watch Co. is described by Fratello as a Hong Kong-based brand founded in 2017 by Leonardo Tsai, whose family background is in dial making. Fratello places the Grand Feu Enamel after the M1 Moonphase and Bronze Salvage collections. Its May 2025 hands-on article, which identifies itself as a partnership post, reviews the Moonstone version.

The collection pairs a stainless-steel case with a hand-engraved silver dial finished in enamel. The dial—not a complication or an unusually elaborate case—is the reason to consider this watch. The watch is time-only, with hours, minutes, and seconds.

What makes the dial distinctive?

Fratello describes two engraved patterns, flare and spiral, offered across five colorways: Prism Violet, Rustique, Golden Fall, Sunbird Blue, and Moonstone. The reviewed Moonstone is bluish-gray with a spiral pattern. The enamel’s shifting, shimmering appearance and the relief of the engraved base give it more visual depth than a flat dial.

  • Unique Watches for Men: The enamel dial features a gradient crack pattern, adding uniqueness to the watch face. The screw-in crown and case back enhance its water resistance. A date window is located at the 6 o'clock position. With 60 second markers, it allows for more precise timekeeping
  • Precision Movement: Japanese 8215 mechanical movement, with a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3Hz), hacking seconds device, One-Way automatic winding and manual winding, 24 jewels, and a 41-hour power reserve
  • Easy Reader Watch: The K1 mineral glass crystal is ten times harder than regular mineral glass, paired with a Swiss anti-reflective blue coating, ensuring clear visibility even in bright conditions. The BGW9 super luminova blue glow allows for easy time reading in the dark
  • Versatile Man Wrist Watch: With 100 M waterproof, it can be worn in rainy, for showering, surfing, swimming, but is not recommended for snorkeling or diving. Its elegant and minimalist design makes it suitable as a business watch for formal occasions such as parties, dinners, gatherings, and business meetings. By switching to a waffle or nylon strap, it can be transformed into a casual watch for daily wear, work, travel, and outdoor activities
  • Size: Case diameter is 39 mm, with a lug length of 48 mm, a thickness of 13 mm, and a lug width of 20 mm. The micro-adjustable fold-over clasp allows you to adjust the watch to the perfect fit, seamlessly suiting your wrist

According to Fratello’s account, each spiral dial has roughly 700 hand-engraved lines, and creating the pattern takes about five hours. These are figures reported by the reviewer, not independently verified production measurements. The reviewer found the spiral showed the labor more clearly, but personally preferred the flare pattern’s look. He also considered Moonstone the least bright colorway; that is a subjective impression, not a color measurement.

Case, fit, and everyday use

Specification Grand Feu Enamel, as reported by Fratello
Case material Stainless steel
Diameter 39mm
Lug-to-lug 45.5mm
Thickness 10.9mm
Lug spacing 20mm
Crystal Sapphire
Stated water resistance 50m
Display Hours, minutes, and seconds

The dimensions are best considered together: the 39mm diameter is only part of the fit, while the 45.5mm lug-to-lug length and 10.9mm thickness also affect how the watch sits on a wrist. Whether it feels compact or substantial depends on your wrist and fit preference; the measurements alone do not settle that question.

Fratello reports 50m water resistance, but the watch is not presented as a dive watch. Treat that figure as a stated specification rather than a recommendation for a particular water activity. The article does not establish a use-specific water-resistance guarantee.

Movement and timekeeping

Fratello reports a Soprod M100 automatic movement with 25 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and a 42-hour power reserve. The article says the movement was adjusted to five positions and specifies an accuracy of ±6 seconds per day. That is the article’s stated specification, not an independent accuracy test or a guarantee of how every example will perform on the wrist.

  • Exhibition Case Back & Dual Dial Options – Show off the movement through the transparent exhibition case back. Choose between crisp white enamel or rich salmon oil-pressed dial, both delivering a modern, stylish aesthetic for any occasion.

On paper, this is a conventional automatic time-only setup rather than a movement chosen for a long reserve or added complication. The case and dial work therefore carry more of the watch’s distinctiveness than its movement specification.

Strap and bracelet options

The configuration described in the review comes on a textured leather strap. Fratello’s reviewer preferred the leather for this collection, though strap choice is personal. The 20mm lug spacing gives a useful starting measurement if considering another strap; check the attachment and fit of any specific replacement before ordering.

The optional stainless-steel H-link bracelet was listed in the 2025 article at US$80, or US$150 with a tool-less micro-adjustment system. It tapers from 20mm at the case to 16mm at the clasp. Those are historical accessory prices reported at launch, not verified current prices or availability.

What did the watch cost at launch?

Fratello reported first-100-piece preorder prices of US$1,899 for the flare dial and US$2,199 for the spiral. The article then gave regular prices of US$2,599 and US$2,899, respectively. These are May 2025 launch terms; they should not be treated as the current price. Current stock, checkout pricing, delivery estimates, warranty terms, and purchase channels have not been established here, so verify them directly before deciding.

The price question is ultimately about priorities. The case dimensions, sapphire crystal, and automatic movement provide the practical foundation, while the hand-engraved enamel is the collection’s defining feature. If that dial work is the reason you want the watch, the value case is clearer. If you mainly want an automatic time-only watch, the information available does not establish that its specifications alone justify the launch prices.

How it differs from Selten’s Series 00

The Series 00 is useful as brand context, but it is a different watch and should not be treated as a direct price or specification equivalent. The Time Bum’s 2021 review reports a 40mm case, 48mm lug-to-lug length, 13mm thickness, 20mm lug width, sapphire crystal, and 50m water resistance. Its day/night edition used a Miyota 9132. The reviewer noted that the hands could be hard to read in some lighting; variants included lumed lance hands or a version without the day/night disc.

Watchfinder’s 2023 Series 00 review discusses meteorite and aventurine dial options and lists a then-current article price of $699. That is a dated, model-specific figure and cannot establish today’s Series 00 price or serve as a like-for-like price comparison with the newer Grand Feu Enamel.

Verdict: who should consider the Grand Feu Enamel?

The Grand Feu Enamel makes the strongest case for a buyer who values a distinctive, hand-engraved enamel dial above movement novelty or a feature-heavy specification sheet. Its five colors and two patterns give buyers meaningful aesthetic choice, while the Moonstone spiral offers a more subdued look than the brighter options, according to Fratello’s reviewer.

The main reasons to pause are practical rather than hidden: decide whether the measured case will fit your wrist, whether the 42-hour reserve and stated movement accuracy suit your expectations, and whether you want leather or would pay separately for the bracelet. Because current pricing and availability are unverified, make the final value judgment against the actual offer available to you—not the historical launch figures.
