The Serica 6190 M.S.L. is a 2024 variation of the brand’s 6190 field chronometer, distinguished by a cleaner dial with twelve applied hour markers instead of Arabic numeral scales. “M.S.L.” stands for Mean Sea Level. The watch retains the 6190 platform’s 37.7 mm steel case, 200 m water resistance and automatic Soprod M100 chronometer movement. Serica’s current listings show a €1,190 price; the checked black and polar-white pages were marked sold out when accessed in 2026.
What does M.S.L. mean?
M.S.L. means Mean Sea Level, the reference used to express the elevation of a summit. Watch journalist James Stacey used the expansion when reporting Serica’s announcement on May 23, 2024. The name suits a field-watch design, but the practical distinction is on the dial.
How the M.S.L. differs from the regular 6190
Serica describes the M.S.L. as a dial treatment within the 6190 line, not a new case or movement platform. The traditional Arabic numeral scales are replaced with twelve applied hour markers, which Serica says are intended to add relief, contrast and legibility. The central seconds hand is luminous on the M.S.L. Launch coverage identifies three dial colors: enamel black, storm grey and polar white.
That makes the M.S.L. the more restrained-looking option relative to the numbered field-dial presentation. The underlying proportions and core specifications remain those of the 6190. Serica’s collection also includes other 6190 field chronometers, including California, Commando and Denali versions; their availability and exact features should be checked on the brand’s live collection page.

Is the Serica 6190 M.S.L. COSC certified?
Yes, according to Serica and launch coverage: the Soprod M100 is described as a COSC-certified chronometer. Serica says its professional watches are certified in collaboration with the movement manufacturer Soprod and the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres. This establishes the certification claim, not a particular daily accuracy result for an individual watch.

How to check the Bonklip bracelet fit
Serica’s guidance uses both wrist circumference and palm circumference. The palm measurement matters because the bracelet must pass over the hand to be put on. The brand’s dedicated size table gives these ranges:

- Measure wrist circumference where you plan to wear the watch.
- Measure around the palm at its widest point, including the thumb as needed to account for getting the bracelet over your hand.
- Compare both measurements with the dedicated size table and ask Serica to confirm if either measurement is near a limit. Serica recommends choosing the larger size when between sizes.
The product selector and size table do not display fully consistent wrist guidance, so use the dedicated table as a starting point rather than assuming a listed size will fit without checking. The case’s 46.5 mm lug-to-lug measurement is also worth comparing with a watch you already find comfortable; diameter alone does not determine how a watch wears.

Price, stock and buying checks
Hodinkee reported a €1,090 launch price in May 2024. Serica’s product and collection pages displayed €1,190 when checked in 2026. The black and polar-white individual pages showed “Sold Out” at that access; this is a snapshot of those pages, not proof that every color is unavailable or that stock will not return. Check the exact dial page for current price and availability before ordering.
