The Serica Parade Ref. 1174 is a two-hand dress-oriented watch built around an unusual stadium-shaped steel case. Its 35 × 41 mm footprint, 8.6 mm thickness, 100 m water-resistance rating and automatic Soprod movement give it a more substantial, capable profile than a conventional fragile dress watch. Serica presents it as its first elegant dress watch; launch coverage also describes it more specifically as the brand’s first shaped watch.
What is the Serica Parade 1174?
Introduced in 2024, the Parade marked a shift for Serica, whose earlier identity was more closely associated with instrument-style watches. Rather than adding a dressier dial to a familiar round case, the brand gave Ref. 1174 a stadium-like outline and pared the display back to hours and minutes. The absence of a seconds hand is central to the design: the dial is deliberately quiet, not a conventional three-hand layout with one hand removed as an afterthought.
Monochrome calls it Serica’s first shaped and elegant dress watch, while Hodinkee and Fratello describe it as the brand’s first shaped watch. Those formulations are compatible but not identical: the watch is both dress-oriented and a new case shape for the brand.
Case shape, dimensions and construction
A stadium silhouette
The case is stainless steel and measures 35 mm wide, 41 mm long and 8.6 mm thick, according to Monochrome and Fratello’s 2024 specifications. Serica describes the outline as a mathematical stadium: an ellipse with straight sides. Hodinkee connects the Ref. 1174 number with the case’s 1:1.74 width-to-length proportion. The broad bezel is vertically brushed and finished with polished bevels; the shaped pin buckle echoes the case outline.

Serica’s claim that this form had never before been used in watchmaking is a brand description, not an independently established historical fact. More usefully for a prospective wearer, the case has no conventional projecting lugs, so the 41 mm length is a key measurement to compare with wrist size rather than relying on the 35 mm width alone.
100 m water resistance
The watch is rated to 100 m water resistance in Serica’s current product information and independent launch coverage. Serica attributes the rating to a “sandwich” construction: case-back screws pass through the mid-case to secure the bezel and compress O-rings. That is a stated specification and construction explanation, not a reason to treat the watch as a dedicated dive watch; follow the manufacturer’s current care and use guidance.

Dials and finishing
Original black and brass versions
The original launch versions paired satin black or sunray brass-colored dials with S-curve guilloché, sunburst finishing and applied spherical hour markers. Polished domed hands indicate hours and minutes. Fratello noted that the surface pattern was more apparent on the brass-colored dial, so the choice is not simply dark versus light: the brass version makes the dial texture more conspicuous.
Linen collection: Tobacco and Slate
Serica’s current collection page also lists Linen Ref. 1174-3 Tobacco and Ref. 1174-4 Slate alongside Ref. 1174-1 and Ref. 1174-2. The Tobacco product page describes a textile-inspired dial in deep relief whose color reflections shift between brown and green, with twelve hand-applied polished markers. The company retains the hours-and-minutes-only display and 100 m rating on that version. A collection listing does not by itself confirm that every color is in stock or available in every market, so check the specific product page for current availability.

Movement and everyday display
Monochrome and Fratello report a Swiss automatic Soprod M100 movement with 25 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and a 42-hour power reserve. The dial has no seconds hand, which suits the Parade’s restrained design but may be a drawback if you use a seconds indication for timing or prefer to see the movement running. The case specifications reported by Monochrome also include a flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, a push-pull crown and a four-screw steel caseback.
How it wears—and who it may suit
Fratello’s Daan de Groot reported that the watch initially seemed somewhat large in hand but wore surprisingly well on his 17 cm wrist. He credited the thin, lug-less design with comfort and found the watch sportier than an average dress watch. That is one reviewer’s hands-on impression, not a universal fit guarantee. For your own wrist, consider the 41 mm case length, the absence of lugs, and the shape and comfort of the supplied strap together.

- Caliber U680.
- Consider it if you want a dress-leaning watch with a distinctive shaped case, a minimal two-hand dial and a water-resistance rating above what is typical of delicate formal watches.
- Look closely at fit if you usually find watches around 41 mm long too prominent, or if a round case is important to how you want a dress watch to look.
- Check the display preference before buying: there is no seconds hand, and the original movement’s reported reserve is 42 hours.
- Choose the dial by texture as well as color: the brass original makes the finishing pattern more visible in Fratello’s account, while Tobacco and Slate bring the newer Linen surface treatment.
The original strap specification reported by Monochrome is grained calf leather, 18 mm at the lugs and tapering to a 14 mm pin buckle. That narrow taper and the case-matching buckle are part of the watch’s visual design, so strap width and buckle shape may matter if you expect to change straps.
