The original 1975 OMEGA Speedmaster Apollo-Soyuz is reference ST 145.022, a vintage commemorative watch OMEGA says was made for the Italian market. Its mission-patch dial and calibre 861 distinguish it from both the 2010 Apollo-Soyuz anniversary model and the 2017 #SpeedyTuesday limited edition. OMEGA’s archive lists the 1975 edition at 500 pieces, although a specialist account discusses an invoice order for 400 and questions whether the additional 100 are documented.
What is the 1975 Apollo-Soyuz Speedmaster?
“Speedy Tuesday” is the recurring Speedmaster editorial framing here; it does not mean this is the 2017 #SpeedyTuesday watch. The subject is the original Apollo-Soyuz commemorative Speedmaster, reference ST 145.022, which OMEGA identifies as a 1975 Italian-market limited edition. OMEGA’s archive entry records its key specifications and mission-related design.
The watch commemorates the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project, the American-Soviet space rendezvous. Fratello reports that the spacecraft docked on 17 July 1975 and remained connected for 44 hours. Fratello’s 2016 account is the source for those mission-operation details.

The mission patch takes the place of the usual OMEGA logo at 12 o’clock. OMEGA also notes longer dial markers and wider pushers for this model. These details help identify its design, but they do not by themselves establish that an individual watch is authentic or original.

How many Apollo-Soyuz Speedmasters were made?
OMEGA’s official archive gives the 1975 model an edition size of 500 pieces. That is the manufacturer’s stated figure, but the production count has a documented qualification: Fratello’s 2016 collector-history article discusses an original invoice order for 400 watches and says evidence for another 100 was not established. An order is not necessarily the final production total, so the invoice does not prove that only 400 were made. The most accurate short answer is that OMEGA records 500, while a specialist account has questioned whether the full figure is substantiated. Fratello’s account
How does the 1975 watch differ from the 2010 and 2017 models?
Similar names can point to different Speedmasters. The mission commemorations and the #SpeedyTuesday name belong to separate models and references:

| 2017 #SpeedyTuesday | 311.32.42.30.01.001 | A 42 mm limited edition inspired by Alaska Project III, not an Apollo-Soyuz model. OMEGA lists calibre 1861 and says all pieces were reserved within 4 hours, 15 minutes, and 43 seconds. OMEGA’s 2017 archive entry |
SJX reported a 2,012-piece limit for the 2017 edition and historical launch prices in January 2017 of US$6,500, €5,300, or S$8,400. Those are launch figures for that model, not current asking or transaction prices for the 1975 ST 145.022. SJX’s January 2017 report also describes the 2017 watch’s radial subdials, reverse-panda styling and Alaska Project III connection.

A model specification describes the watch as originally catalogued; it does not certify the condition or originality of a particular example. Since the ST 145.022 is a vintage collectible, evaluate the specific watch and its documentation rather than relying on the Apollo-Soyuz name alone.
