Who wears a Rolex Daytona? A Monochrome Watches roundup identifies ten notable people, from Jay-Z and Michael Jordan to Victoria Beckham—not David Beckham—with reported examples ranging from yellow gold and steel to platinum and rainbow-set designs. These are published identifications, not authenticated ownership records.
Why the Daytona stands out
Rolex says it introduced the Cosmograph Daytona in 1963 for motor-racing professionals. Its chronograph measures elapsed time: the central seconds hand records seconds, while the dial counters display elapsed minutes and hours. A tachymeter scale on the bezel can be used to calculate average speed over a known distance.
Rolex’s current product page describes a 40 mm Daytona in Oystersteel, 18 ct gold or 950 platinum, powered by calibre 4131. Rolex states that calibre’s power reserve as approximately 72 hours and gives the finished watch’s Superlative Chronometer precision as −2/+2 seconds per day. Those current specifications should not be assumed to describe every older reference in the celebrity sightings below.

The roundup reports Jay-Z wearing a Daytona at the Shawn Carter Foundation Gala and says gala invitees received Everose-gold Daytonas. That is the roundup’s account, rather than confirmation of the provenance of a particular watch.

A separate sighting reported by GQ concerns a reference 6270 worn at Yankee Stadium on 10 July 2026, during performances celebrating the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt. GQ describes the diamond-set watch as commissioned for Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman and reports eight known examples. Those details concern this separate watch and appearance, not the gala account.
