How RSM’s design approach shaped the range
RSM says its founders began making straps after struggling to find purpose-driven options they considered well-made and affordable. The company describes its first design as a herringbone-twill strap inspired by World War II military uniforms. Its broader premise is that familiar strap forms can be reinterpreted through architectural thinking, with each range designed from scratch.
That origin in practical, tool-watch styles remains visible in the fabric collections, but the catalog has broadened. RSM’s current shop organizes offerings across collections, materials, styles and widths, and includes leather and silk as well as fabric straps. The company says its material and construction choices are intended to support durability and comfort; those are brand claims, not the result of independent comparative testing in the sources cited here.

How to choose the right RSM strap
1. Match the lug width
Measure the distance between the watch’s lugs—the points where the strap meets the case—in millimeters. RSM’s FAQ recommends using that measurement to select the matching width category. Before ordering, confirm the product page’s stated width and any product-specific length or attachment details. A strap that does not fit the watch’s lug width is not a suitable replacement, however appealing its design.

2. Choose material and construction for the look you want
- Fabric: The listed options include nylon, poly-cotton, polyester and canvas. Compare the weave and texture as well as the material name; the Herringbone Twill and X-Hatch, for example, have visibly different woven patterns.
- One-piece or two-piece: The VTG Mil Single Pass is named as a single-pass style, while Fratello describes X-Hatch as two-piece. Check the individual product listing for construction and attachment details rather than relying on the collection name alone.
- Leather or silk: These offer a different finish from the fabric range. For silk, RSM describes a reversible design and a fastening intended to avoid puncturing the fabric; check the specific listing to understand its fit and closure.
- Width, length and hardware: Confirm the listed measurements and buckle or clasp details against your watch and preferences. The catalog’s widths and product details can vary by strap.
3. Treat comfort and durability claims carefully
RSM presents durability and comfort as goals of its material and construction choices. Fratello’s 2023 reviewer offered favorable personal impressions of comfort for particular straps, but those observations do not establish how every wearer will find them or provide a head-to-head durability test. If those qualities matter most, use the product description for construction specifics and consider the attributed review as one person’s experience.

For leather care, RSM advises avoiding water, oils and harsh chemicals; wiping gently with a dry cloth; applying leather conditioner periodically; and storing the strap in a cool, dry place. Its FAQ states a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects, excluding normal wear and tear and damage from improper use or accidents. It also says a return request must be made within three days after receipt, for an item that is unworn or unused and in its original packaging. Review the current RSM FAQ and refund policy before ordering, since terms can change.
