The 2025 Straum × Fratello Jan Mayen brought back the collaboration’s red dial in a Grade 5 titanium case, now paired with Straum’s integrated FKM rubber strap. It retains the time-only La Joux-Perret G101 automatic movement, rated for a 68-hour power reserve. The preorder ran for one week in June and July 2025; Straum’s product page now says the sales window is closed.
What changed for the 2025 Fratello edition?
The red Fratello dial first appeared on a Jan Mayen in 2023. Its return was a different configuration, not a repeat of the original: Straum combined the red dial with the Jan Mayen Titanium platform, revised details and an integrated rubber-strap system. Straum also offered the Titanium collection in Arctic Blue, Moss Green, Glacier White and Black Sand, with Fratello’s red as the collaboration edition. Straum’s June 2025 announcement describes the launch and color range.

Case, dimensions and dial
The case is Grade 5 titanium with a sandblasted finish and polished accents. Straum’s detailed product listing gives the following measurements; launch coverage used rounded figures, so the small differences reflect precision rather than a different case specification.
| Measurement | Straum product listing | Rounded launch coverage |
|---|---|---|
| Diameter | 38.7 mm | 39 mm, as reported by Straum and Fratello |
| Width including crown | 40.7 mm | Not stated in the cited launch coverage |
| Lug tip to lug tip | 45.7 mm | 45.8 mm, as reported by Straum and Fratello |
| Thickness | 11.5 mm; 9.7 mm excluding the crystal | 11.3 mm, as reported by Straum and Fratello |
The manufacturer describes the red dial as inspired by the Beerenberg volcano and lava on Jan Mayen. It uses a stamped, layered pattern and fumé treatment; Fratello characterized the color as a crimson center shading toward darker burgundy and black. These are design descriptions, not geological claims. The dial sits beneath a double-domed sapphire crystal with internal anti-reflective coating. A screw-down sapphire display caseback reveals the movement.

#1 Best Overall
- Elegant Design: White dial with full Arabic numerals offers classic, easy-to-read styling

- Comfort Fit: Adjustable black 9mm genuine leather strap fits wrists up to 7.5 inches

- Petite Fit: 18mm case width complements any outfit with understated elegance
Straum rates the watch to 10 ATM (100 m) and specifies a screw-down crown. The rating is a product specification, not a guarantee of suitability for every water activity.
How the integrated FKM strap works
The strap is made from FKM fluoroelastomer rubber and curves into the case through Straum’s proprietary coupling system. A push-button quick release allows removal at the case connection. The strap is cut to size and measures 24.8 mm at the lug, tapering to 18 mm at the buckle; the stated maximum wrist circumference is 21 cm. Since the coupling is specific to Straum’s case system, a generic FKM strap should not be assumed to fit.
Movement and operation
Straum’s product page specifies a La Joux-Perret G101 automatic movement with hours, minutes and seconds, but no date. It supports manual winding and hacking seconds, has 24 jewels, and is graded Soigné and adjusted in four positions. The stated power reserve is 68 hours. Fratello rounded that figure to approximately 70 hours in its launch coverage; for the exact specification, use Straum’s 68-hour figure. The movement beats at 4 Hz, or 28,800 vibrations per hour.

Launch price and current availability
The preorder opened June 26, 2025, at 6:00 PM CEST and closed July 3, 2025, at 6:00 PM CEST. It was limited by that one-week sales window, not by a stated numbered production quantity. These were historical launch prices, not current offers:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems| Source | Published launch prices | Tax basis |
|---|---|---|
| Straum, June 2025 | $1,930; €1,820; £1,590 | Tax basis not specified in the announcement |
| Fratello, June 2025 | $1,930; €1,830; £1,590 | Euro price explicitly excluding taxes; tax basis for the other currencies not stated |
The two sources therefore give different euro figures; neither should be presented as a current price. Straum’s product page, checked October 8, 2026, labels the sales window “Sales window closed” and invites visitors to sign up for release notifications. That confirms the official preorder has ended, but does not establish whether a resale listing exists or whether any particular listing is authentic. Fratello reported that delivery was expected to begin about seven months after preorder closure; that was the expectation at launch, not a current delivery estimate. See Straum’s product page for the present sales notice and specifications, and Fratello’s June 2025 launch report for its account of the preorder and historical pricing.
How it differs from the 2023 collaboration
The 2023 Fratello Jan Mayen and the 2025 titanium return are distinct configurations. The 2025 version uses a Grade 5 titanium case and integrated rubber system; Fratello described the earlier model as stainless steel with a bracelet configuration. Do not carry dimensions or launch prices from one version over to the other. The 2025 edition’s materials, launch window and specifications are covered in Fratello’s report.
