The original offered 40 mm or 44 mm cases, with either a Seiko VK64 meca-quartz chronograph or, in a limited first production, an automatic Seiko NE88. It is distinct from Straton’s later 40 mm Syncro MkII, which uses a hand-wound Seagull ST19.
What is the Straton Syncro Chronograph?
The Syncro was Straton Watch Co.’s third watch, according to Fratello Watches’ February 2017 review. Straton says the brand began in 2015, and its current MkII product page describes the original Syncro as launched in 2017. Fratello dates the original Kickstarter launch to February 1, 2017.
Fratello characterized the design as inspired by 1970s diver chronographs. Its review describes a range of configurations rather than a single standard version: 40 mm and 44 mm cases, stainless-steel or black DLC finishes, multiple dial and rotating-bezel choices, and date or no-date options. The review also notes applied hour indices and a tachymeter inner bezel. These are descriptions from the contemporary review, not independent measurements.
What movement does the original Straton Syncro use?
The original Syncro was offered with two different chronograph movements, so the answer depends on the specific configuration:
#1 Best Overall
- Self-contained ever glow vial lamps; Titanium case is light, strong, and hypoallergenic; high water resistance feature set.
- Vials are not inset but 80% above the face surface; This makes them visible from the edges Not just from above.
- Large, substantial, 50 mm high-vies design; Scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass & crystal interior is anti-reflective coated.
- The gmt models include a daylight ring Plus an additional hand for tracking a second time zone
- What's included: Comes mounted with custom T.P.R. Band, 1x military-grade Thermoformed travel case.
- Seiko VK64: a meca-quartz chronograph, listed for the 44 mm original model on Straton’s product page.
- Seiko NE88: an automatic chronograph offered in a limited first production of 200 pieces. Fratello and the historical Kickstarter reward listing both identify that initial production limit.
The 200-piece figure describes the first production of the automatic version in the 2017 campaign; it does not establish current availability. Neither the historical campaign nor the cited product listings establish an independent accuracy or durability test.
What are the original Syncro’s listed specifications?
Straton’s original Syncro product listing gives specifications for a 44 mm VK64 version. Because the original came in multiple configurations, check the specific watch’s listing or documentation before applying these figures to another variant.

The Syncro MkII is a later, separate model, not simply the original with cosmetic updates. Straton’s current product page lists the following specifications; availability and product details can change.

For an original Syncro, identify the case diameter, movement, date configuration and dial or bezel before relying on a specification or ordering a strap. The original’s options mean the 44 mm VK64 listing cannot be treated as a complete specification sheet for every 2017 Syncro.
For the MkII, use its own 40 mm, hand-wound ST19, 20 mm strap and 10 ATM / 100 m specifications. Keeping the model names distinct prevents mixing the original’s movement choices and listed 22 mm strap with the later watch.
