Whether it is a good buy comes down to whether you want this distinctive design and mechanical chronograph—and are comfortable with its size, winding routine, stated 5 ATM water resistance and the maker’s return and warranty conditions.
What is Studio Underd0g?
Studio Underd0g is a British watch brand whose official site describes the 01SERIES as chronographs, the 02SERIES as field watches and the 03SERIES as monopusher chronographs. The Watermel0n Gen3 belongs to the 01SERIES. The name and vivid dial signal its playful design, while the watch itself is a conventional mechanical chronograph in the sense that it has a manually wound movement and elapsed-time functions.
The brand says its D0ghouse workshop in Maidenhead assembles watches. For the Watermel0n, Studio Underd0g says one person assembles each watch in-house in Great Britain from start to finish, with the assembler’s initials on the accompanying paperwork. What the mechanical chronograph means in everyday use
Manual winding
The Watermel0n is not a battery-powered quartz watch. Its ST-1901B is manually wound, so it needs winding by hand rather than relying on a battery. The listing gives different power-reserve figures depending on chronograph use: 50 hours with the chronograph off and 45 hours with it running. Those are the maker’s specifications, not a guarantee of the reserve an individual watch will achieve.
Chronograph and tachymeter
The chronograph provides an elapsed-time function in addition to ordinary timekeeping; the tachymeter is a scale associated with the chronograph. These functions are part of the appeal if you want a mechanical stopwatch-style complication. If you want a simple, low-intervention watch, a manual chronograph may be less convenient than a time-only or quartz alternative.
Accuracy and regulation
Studio Underd0g specifies accuracy of -10/+15 seconds per day and says the movement is regulated in Great Britain to that range. The brand also describes the ST-1901B as having a black main plate and silver swan-neck regulator. These are maker-provided descriptions and specifications, not independent accuracy measurements.

Will the Watermel0n Gen3 fit your wrist?
Diameter alone does not determine fit. The listed 44.5 mm lug-to-lug length and 12.9 mm thickness are useful alongside the 38.5 mm diameter when judging how the case may sit and project on your wrist. If possible, compare those measurements with a watch you already wear comfortably or try it on before buying.
The supplied leather strap has 20 mm lugs and tapers to 16 mm at the buckle. Quick-release spring bars make a compatible strap change plausible, but a replacement needs to match the 20 mm lug width; check its buckle-end width and length as well. Water resistance: what 5 ATM does and does not establish
Studio Underd0g lists the Watermel0n Gen3 at 5 ATM water resistance. That is the published rating; it does not by itself verify how a particular watch will perform in a specific activity. Do not treat the figure as an independent promise of suitability for swimming or diving.

How it compares with a Studio Underd0g field watch

Choose between them by the kind of watch you want, not by price alone. The Watermel0n is the colorful chronograph option; the Steffany Blue is a slimmer field-watch design with a different dial construction and specification set. Is a Studio Underd0g watch worth it?
The Watermel0n Gen3 is most compelling for someone who values its unusually colorful dial, wants a manually wound chronograph and finds the 38.5 mm case dimensions suitable. Its £600 listed price, winding requirement, stated accuracy range and 5 ATM rating are practical considerations—not details to overlook in favor of the design. The Steffany Blue Gen2 serves a different preference and use case, so its higher listed price does not make it a like-for-like value comparison.

Warranty
Studio Underd0g’s FAQ states a two-year warranty from receipt for mechanical faults, with service or repair arranged without charge where applicable. Accidental damage and general wear are excluded. The maker says that having an independent watchmaker or third-party service center open, inspect or regulate the watch voids the remaining warranty; contact Studio Underd0g before arranging outside work. Returns
The FAQ states a 14-day return window after receipt, provided the watch remains in perfect condition and is unused and unhandled. Its instructions say not to unwrap or try on the watch or buckle the strap. The listed return-shipping deductions are £10 for the UK and £30 for the US, EU and rest of world. The FAQ says unshipped orders can be refunded at any time. Check the live policy before purchase because these terms may change.
