Zenith dates El Primero’s introduction to 1969. Its official A386 product page says: “In 1969, ZENITH forever changed the world of watchmaking with the unveiling of the El Primero, the world’s first automatic high-frequency chronograph calibre.” Zenith’s A386 page provides that historical account.
How the Carrera and El Primero timelines differ
TAG Heuer dates the Carrera’s beginning to 1963, six years before Zenith says it introduced El Primero.
