The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x fragment (reference CBS221B.BA0045) is a 39 mm steel automatic chronograph limited to 500 numbered pieces. It is TAG Heuer’s third collaboration with Hiroshi Fujiwara’s fragment design, and it strips the Carrera Glassbox down to black, white and one small lightning-bolt signature. Launch prices differ by market: ¥1,303,500 including tax in Japan, a reported $9,050 in the US, and €9,000 on TAG Heuer’s Ireland page.

What makes the design different
Black dial, white flange
The watch keeps the proportions of the 39 mm Carrera Glassbox. The black opalin dial sits inside a contrasting curved white flange, with silver-toned markings. The result is a high-contrast, graphic look rather than a decorative one.
The fragment lightning bolts
The custom date disc replaces the numerals “1” and “11” with fragment’s lightning-bolt marks. It is a small change that most people will not notice at a glance. That fits the collaboration’s character, since Fujiwara is known for restrained edits, and he is quoted in the release material as saying nothing is added unless it has a reason to exist.

Crystal, caseback and bracelet
The sapphire crystal and the caseback carry collaboration details, and the caseback also has a Victory Wreath engraving. The beads-of-rice bracelet has black PVD-coated center links between steel outer links, which gives the monochrome scheme a bit more bite than a plain steel bracelet would.
Movement and everyday use
Inside is TAG Heuer’s in-house Calibre TH20-00. The release materials describe a column-wheel chronograph with a vertical clutch and bidirectional winding, plus an 80-hour power reserve. You could leave it off the wrist over a weekend and it should still be running on Monday. Water resistance is 100 m. That is enough for swimming and showers, though it is not a dive-watch rating.

Do not treat these as one worldwide price. Taxes, currency and local pricing differ. The Ireland page also marks the watch “Out of stock online”. That says nothing about availability in other countries or at individual retailers, and the US figure is launch reporting rather than an inventory check.
The collaboration’s background
This is the third TAG Heuer and fragment project, after the 2018 Carrera and 2020 Formula 1 collaborations. It returns to the Carrera, this time in the Glassbox format. WATCHPRO quotes TAG Heuer CEO Antoine Pin: “This collaboration speaks to the essence of design that lasts.” The Fujiwara quote comes from a Japanese-language TAG Heuer Japan notice, so any English wording is a translation.

Buying considerations
- Edition size: 500 pieces is small, but no resale data was available to show how the watch trades, so don’t assume it will hold or gain value.
- Market: Confirm which region’s price, tax and warranty terms apply to the watch you are looking at.
- Pre-owned examples: Check the edition number, box and papers, and that the warranty is valid and transferable.
- Fit: At 39 mm with a bracelet, it suits smaller and medium wrists and sits closer to classic Carrera sizing than to recent oversized chronographs.
