TAG Heuer’s 2025 Formula 1 Chronograph x Senna collection is a two-tier tribute, not a single watch offered in different sizes. The 44 mm CBZ2081.FT8092 brings an automatic Calibre 16, black DLC-coated titanium, forged carbon, and a yellow rubber strap. The 43 mm CAZ101AX.BA0637 uses quartz, steel, and the S-shaped bracelet linked to TAG Heuer’s earlier Senna designs. Here is how the two watches differ—and which buyer each one suits.
The 2025 TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph x Senna collection is not one watch in two sizes. It is a deliberate two-tier tribute to Ayrton Senna. The 44 mm CBZ2081.FT8092 is the more technically ambitious option, combining an automatic Calibre 16 chronograph with black DLC-coated titanium, a forged-carbon bezel, and a yellow rubber strap. The 43 mm CAZ101AX.BA0637 is the more accessible and historically referential model, using a quartz chronograph, a steel case, and the S-shaped bracelet associated with TAG Heuer’s Senna designs.
Both watches share Senna’s yellow, green, and blue racing palette, 200-meter water resistance, black sunray-brushed dials, and Formula 1 chronograph identity. But their movements, materials, wearability, timing displays, bracelet concepts, and collecting propositions are substantially different. The right choice depends less on the one-millimeter case-size difference than on whether you want a modern mechanical racing watch or the strongest connection to TAG Heuer’s Senna design archive.

| Stated production quantity | Not stated on the U.S. product page reviewed | Limited to 3,000 pieces |
| U.S. listed price at research time | $5,900 | $2,800 |
The listed U.S. price difference is $3,100, so the automatic costs a little more than twice as much as the quartz model. That premium reflects the automatic movement and the titanium-and-forged-carbon construction; it should not be interpreted as a direct measure of rarity. TAG Heuer publicly specifies 3,000 pieces for the quartz watch, but the U.S. automatic product page reviewed does not give a corresponding production number.

TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph x Senna 44 mm: CBZ2081.FT8092
The CBZ2081.FT8092 is the statement piece of the pair. Its black DLC-coated Grade 2 titanium case and forged-carbon bezel move the design away from a straightforward reissue and toward the high-performance materials language of TAG Heuer’s 2025 Formula 1 redesign. The combination is lightweight in material terms, visually dark, and deliberately aggressive, while the bright yellow rubber strap makes the watch immediately recognizable as a Senna edition.
Specifications
- Reference: CBZ2081.FT8092
- Movement: TAG Heuer Calibre 16 automatic chronograph
- Case: 44 mm Grade 2 titanium with black DLC coating
- Bezel: Fixed forged carbon
- Crystal: Flat sapphire crystal, according to specialist technical coverage
- Water resistance: 200 m
- Strap: Yellow rubber with a sandblasted, black DLC-coated pin buckle
- Functions: Hours, minutes, chronograph, 30-minute counter, 12-hour counter, and date
- U.S. listed price: $5,900 at the time of research
The dial is black with a sunray-brushed finish and yellow, green, and blue accents. The yellow central chronograph hand reinforces the strap and Senna color story without making the dial entirely multicolored. Senna branding appears around the bezel, and the caseback uses an engraved helmet motif to make the connection more explicit.
The power-reserve specification needs a qualification
There is an unresolved discrepancy in TAG Heuer’s official regional information. The U.S. product page lists a 48-hour power reserve, while another official regional page lists 56 hours. A specialist review describes the Calibre 16 as a movement based on the ETA/Valjoux 7750 architecture and gives 42 hours, but that is secondary information and conflicts with the official figures. For that reason, buyers should verify the technical sheet for their market rather than treating one number as universally definitive.
This is a small but important distinction for a reference at this price. The safe description is that the CBZ2081.FT8092 uses an automatic Calibre 16 chronograph and that published power-reserve figures vary by source and region.
How large does it wear?
The nominal 44 mm diameter understates its wrist presence. Specialist measurements put the case at approximately 47.3 mm from lug to lug and 14.3 mm thick. Those dimensions, combined with the dark coating, forged-carbon bezel, and bright rubber strap, make it a visually substantial sports watch. It will suit buyers who like an assertive Formula 1 profile, but it is not the safer choice for smaller wrists simply because the strap is flexible.

TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph x Senna 43 mm: CAZ101AX.BA0637
The CAZ101AX.BA0637 takes a different route. Its fine-brushed and polished steel case is less exotic than the automatic’s titanium, but the defining feature is the S-shaped steel bracelet. That bracelet recalls the design introduced by TAG Heuer in 1987 and associated with Senna’s preferred watch designs. It gives the quartz model the clearest visual link to the earlier Formula 1 Senna watches.
Specifications
- Reference: CAZ101AX.BA0637
- Movement: Quartz chronograph
- Case: 43 mm fine-brushed and polished steel
- Bezel: Fixed black DLC-coated aluminum tachymeter bezel with Senna branding
- Water resistance: 200 m
- Bracelet: S-shaped steel bracelet with folding clasp
- Functions: Hours, minutes, seconds, 1/10-second chronograph, 30-minute counter, and date
- Limitation: 3,000 pieces
- U.S. listed price: $2,800 at the time of research
The quartz watch uses a black sunray-brushed dial with yellow, red, green, and blue accents. The red detail distinguishes it from the automatic model’s more restrained yellow, green, and blue execution. The multicolor treatment is concentrated around the 6 o’clock 1/10-second counter, where it adds a direct racing-instrument effect without overwhelming the rest of the dial.
The 1/10-second chronograph also gives this watch a different functional personality. The automatic model emphasizes conventional mechanical chronograph registers, including a 12-hour counter. The quartz model instead foregrounds fast elapsed-time measurement and practical precision. Neither approach is inherently superior: they serve different reasons for buying a motorsport chronograph.

Why these are genuinely different Senna watches
It would be easy to describe the CAZ101AX.BA0637 as the smaller, cheaper version of the CBZ2081.FT8092. That description misses the point. The watches differ in nearly every element that shapes ownership:
- Movement: The automatic offers mechanical movement ownership and the visual appeal of a Calibre 16 chronograph. The quartz model offers convenience and a 1/10-second display.
- Materials: Titanium, DLC, and forged carbon make the automatic the contemporary technical option. Steel and a coated aluminum bezel give the quartz model a more familiar Formula 1 construction.
- Wrist presence: The automatic is larger and thicker in practical wear, despite only being 1 mm wider on paper.
- Strap concept: The yellow rubber strap makes the automatic louder and more overtly sporty. The S-shaped steel bracelet makes the quartz model more closely tied to TAG Heuer’s historical Senna vocabulary.
- Collecting proposition: The quartz model has a stated 3,000-piece limitation. The automatic is described as a special edition, but no production quantity was stated on the U.S. page reviewed.
- Price: At the listed U.S. prices, the quartz costs $2,800 and the automatic $5,900.
Design: modern Formula 1 materials with archival Senna cues
The collection works because it does not rely on a single nostalgic detail. It combines two generations of design language. The modern layer comes from the 2025 Formula 1 redesign: titanium cases, forged carbon, bold racing colors, tachymeter bezels, high-performance rubber, and automatic chronograph construction. The historical layer comes from Senna’s recognizable palette, logo, helmet imagery, and the S-shaped bracelet.
Rank #3
- Bold Field Design: Green 41mm case with digital dial pairs with an adjustable black strap fitting wrists up to 8 inches for daily wear
- Serious Performance: A 100-hour chronograph tracks lap and split times, plus a 24-hour countdown timer and a month, day and date calendar for everyday training
- Everyday Alarms: Three daily, weekday, or weekend alarms with a 5-minute backup, 24-hour military time mode, and two time zones keep you on schedule
- Night-Ready Visibility: An acrylic lens and INDIGLO light-up dial keep the gray digital display easy to read from dawn to dusk and after dark
- Built to Last: A Timex watch is designed for durability and everyday reliability; every piece reflects our commitment to quality without compromise
Senna’s color associations are especially important. Yellow, green, and blue appear across both watches against dark dials, while the quartz edition adds red in its dial accents. The automatic’s yellow strap and central hand create a stronger helmet-color reference. The quartz’s bracelet and multicolor 6 o’clock register create a more archival and instrument-like effect.
TAG Heuer’s relationship with Senna reaches back to the late 1980s and has produced Senna-branded watches across the Link, Carrera, and Formula 1 families since the 1990s. The 2025 watches are therefore not an isolated licensing exercise; they are the latest chapter in a long-running design and motorsport association. TAG Heuer’s historical material documents that progression, while the 2025 Formula 1 platform supplies the newer materials and case architecture.

Which 2025 Senna Formula 1 should you buy?
Choose the CBZ2081.FT8092 if you want:
- An automatic chronograph rather than quartz convenience.
- Grade 2 titanium, black DLC treatment, and a forged-carbon bezel.
- A modern, lightweight-materials interpretation of a racing watch.
- A yellow rubber strap and the strongest visual impact.
- A larger watch that makes the Formula 1 identity obvious.
The automatic is the better fit for a buyer who values the watch as a piece of contemporary mechanical product design. It is also the more distinctive choice if you already own steel Formula 1 watches and want something materially different. Its drawbacks are the higher price, larger wrist presence, and unresolved regional power-reserve specification.
For official availability, start with the TAG Heuer listing for the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph x Senna 44 mm. Price and stock can change, and a product page should not be read as a guarantee of immediate fulfillment.
Choose the CAZ101AX.BA0637 if you want:
- The S-shaped steel bracelet and its connection to earlier Senna designs.
- A lower entry price into the 2025 collection.
- A 43 mm case with a less technically elaborate but more familiar construction.
- Quartz accuracy and a 1/10-second chronograph display.
- A clearly stated 3,000-piece production limit.
- A watch that prioritizes Senna iconography and everyday practicality over mechanical ownership.
The quartz model is the more straightforward recommendation for a Senna collector who cares most about the bracelet heritage, the stated limitation, and the lower price. Its steel bracelet may also make it easier to wear across different settings than the automatic’s bright yellow rubber strap, although the dial and bezel remain unmistakably motorsport-focused.

If official stock is unavailable, buyers can investigate whether they can buy CBZ2081.FT8092 through an authorized luxury-watch retailer. Confirm that the seller is authorized in your market, that the reference number is exact, and that warranty terms are stated before placing an order.
Availability and buying cautions
At the time of research, both TAG Heuer U.S. product pages showed the watches as out of stock online. The pages offered notification and store-availability options, so availability was location-dependent rather than proof that the watches were unavailable everywhere. Check a TAG Heuer boutique or authorized retailer directly instead of assuming that an online listing will ship immediately.
A retailer listing for the automatic reference confirms that CBZ2081.FT8092 is distributed through luxury-watch retail, but a listing alone does not establish current inventory, the final transaction price, or the seller’s authorization. The same caution applies to secondary-market marketplaces. A CBZ2081.FT8092 secondary market listing may be useful when brand-direct stock is unavailable, but it is not automatically authentic, authorized, or covered by TAG Heuer’s warranty.
Secondary-market checklist
- Match the reference: Confirm that the listing says CBZ2081.FT8092, not a visually similar Formula 1 or an earlier Senna edition.
- Verify the seller: Review the seller’s history, location, return policy, and identity. Marketplace presence is not the same as authorized-dealer status.
- Request detailed photographs: Check the dial, bezel, caseback helmet engraving, strap, buckle, clasp, and serial information against reliable reference imagery.
- Ask about provenance: Request the original receipt, warranty card, box, and service documentation where available.
- Clarify warranty coverage: Determine whether the watch has a valid manufacturer warranty, a retailer warranty, or no warranty.
- Inspect condition and completeness: DLC coatings, forged carbon, rubber straps, and clasps can all show wear or replacement. Ask specifically about scratches, refinishing, swapped parts, and water-resistance testing.
- Use protected payment and an inspection period: Do not waive buyer protections for a supposedly rare or urgent listing.
Because the automatic model has no stated quantity on the U.S. product page, scarcity language in a resale listing should be treated cautiously. The quartz model’s 3,000-piece limitation is official, but it still does not guarantee a particular secondary-market premium.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Important specification and wording caveats
- Do not call the automatic watch a 3,000-piece edition. That quantity is stated for CAZ101AX.BA0637, not for CBZ2081.FT8092 on the U.S. page reviewed.
- Do not quote one universal power-reserve figure for the automatic without naming the regional technical source. Official pages reviewed list 48 and 56 hours, while specialist coverage gives 42 hours.
- Do not say either watch was available for immediate online purchase in the United States. Both U.S. pages showed out-of-stock status during research.
- Do not treat a Chrono24 or other resale listing as proof of authenticity, authorization, condition, or TAG Heuer warranty coverage.
- Do not reduce the collection to a size choice. The bracelet, movement, case material, chronograph display, and stated limitation are more consequential differences.
Our verdict
The CBZ2081.FT8092 is the more impressive watch on paper and on the wrist: automatic Calibre 16, titanium, black DLC, forged carbon, sapphire crystal, and a yellow rubber strap give it the strongest modern-performance character. It is the one to choose when materials and mechanical construction matter most.

The CAZ101AX.BA0637 is arguably the more coherent Senna tribute for buyers who prioritize historical design cues. Its S-shaped bracelet, 43 mm steel case, quartz 1/10-second chronograph, lower price, and explicit 3,000-piece limitation make it a separate proposition rather than a budget compromise.
In short: buy the automatic for contemporary Formula 1 engineering and mechanical appeal; buy the quartz for bracelet heritage, accessibility, and the clearest connection to TAG Heuer’s earlier Senna designs.
Sources and technical basis
The model specifications, listed prices, and research-time U.S. availability statements are based primarily on TAG Heuer’s U.S. and regional product pages. Launch context and the Senna design history are based on TAG Heuer’s official historical and editorial material. Specialist coverage from Hodinkee, Fratello, and Monochrome supplies secondary context on case dimensions and movement architecture. Watches of Switzerland and Chrono24 are treated only as retail and market-context sources, not as proof of current stock, authorization, authenticity, or final pricing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which TAG Heuer Senna Formula 1 watch is better?
The 44 mm CBZ2081.FT8092 is the better choice for buyers who want an automatic Calibre 16 chronograph, titanium, black DLC, forged carbon, and a modern high-performance racing-watch design. The 43 mm CAZ101AX.BA0637 is better for buyers who value the S-shaped bracelet, quartz convenience, a 1/10-second display, the lower $2,800 listed U.S. price, and the stated 3,000-piece limitation.
Is the automatic CBZ2081.FT8092 limited to 3,000 pieces?
No specific production quantity was stated on the U.S. TAG Heuer product page reviewed for CBZ2081.FT8092. The 3,000-piece limitation belongs to the quartz CAZ101AX.BA0637. The automatic should be described as a special edition, not as a 3,000-piece limited edition.
What is the power reserve of the automatic Senna Formula 1?
Published figures conflict. The U.S. TAG Heuer page lists 48 hours, another official regional page lists 56 hours, and specialist coverage gives 42 hours. Buyers should verify the technical specification for their region rather than relying on one universal figure.
Are the 2025 TAG Heuer Senna Formula 1 watches in stock?
During the research period, TAG Heuer’s U.S. online pages showed both references as out of stock online, while offering store-availability and notification options. Stock is therefore location-dependent and should be confirmed with TAG Heuer boutiques or authorized retailers.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The 44 mm CBZ2081.FT8092 is the technical, automatic, titanium-and-forged-carbon choice at a listed $5,900. The 43 mm CAZ101AX.BA0637 is the lower-priced quartz option at $2,800, with the historically significant S-shaped bracelet and a stated 3,000-piece limit. Choose by movement, materials, bracelet, and collecting priorities—not merely by case size.
