The quartz chronograph measures 43 mm, is rated to 200 m water resistance and was limited to 500 pieces, according to TAG Heuer’s May 2022 product brochure.
What is the TAG Heuer Indy 500 2022 Limited Edition?
It is a Formula 1-series chronograph created to mark TAG Heuer’s relationship with the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and the 2022 Indianapolis 500. The official reference is CAZ101AR.BA0842. TAG Heuer said the design was developed with the INDYCAR team and race-car driver Alexander Rossi, drawing on visual cues from the Speedway.
The launch coincided with the 106th running of the Indianapolis 500 and the 18th year of TAG Heuer serving as Official Timekeeper of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. TAG Heuer’s May 2022 magazine guide says the brand joined the Indy 500 partnership as Official Timekeeper and Scorer in 2004, and had released 17 Indy 500 special editions since then.

What makes the design specific to the Indy 500?
The race branding appears in several places rather than only on the dial. The fixed black tachymeter bezel carries a gold Indy 500 logo and a red inner-bezel detail. The black grained dial uses three subdials: permanent seconds at 3 o’clock, hour and 1/10th-second chronograph counters at 6 o’clock, and the minute chronograph counter at 9 o’clock. A Pagoda illustration appears in the 6 o’clock counter, while the date window sits at 4 o’clock, according to TAG Heuer’s magazine description.

TAG Heuer’s magazine describes the bezel as ceramic, whereas the brochure’s specification table identifies it as aluminum. Those official descriptions conflict, so the material should not be treated as settled; the table above follows the brochure’s listed component specification.
