What is the Carrera Dato Glassbox?
“Glassbox” describes the domed sapphire crystal that curves over the dial’s flange and visually connects with the case. TAG Heuer presents the shape as a modern use of earlier domed-crystal styling. It is both a defining visual feature and part of how the dial is framed.

The 2024 TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Dato brochure documents a teal-green dial treatment, including an azuré subdial, and a black alligator leather strap with a steel folding clasp. For this specific configuration, the reference is CBS2211.FC6545. Movement and power reserve
The brochure identifies the movement as the automatic TH20-07, also described there as Heuer 02, and states an 80-hour power reserve. That is TAG Heuer’s product specification for the documented Dato configuration, not an independently measured result. How the Dato connects to Carrera history
TAG Heuer dates the Carrera’s launch to 1963 and traces the Glassbox Dato concept to the Carrera 45 Dato chronograph, circa 1967. This is the brand’s account of the lineage: it places the date-and-chronograph idea in Carrera history without proving that every detail of the modern watch directly reproduces a vintage model. Check the exact reference before comparing
Do not assume measurements, water resistance, movement, price or stock from another Glassbox Carrera apply to the Dato. For example, TAG Heuer’s US product page for the separate panda-dial reference CBS2216.BA0041 lists a 39 mm case, 13.9 mm thickness, 20.7 mm lug distance, 100 m water resistance, TH20-00 movement and 80-hour power reserve. Those figures belong to that reference, not automatically to CBS2211.FC6545. The same US page listed CBS2216.BA0041 at $7,450 and showed it unavailable online when retrieved; that is neither a Dato price nor a current availability check. - Look up case dimensions, water resistance and movement for that exact reference in an official regional listing or documentation.
- Check local pricing, stock and warranty terms directly with TAG Heuer or the retailer; the brochure’s five-year extended-warranty wording does not establish the terms applicable to every market or purchase.
Who the Dato Glassbox may suit
The documented combination is most relevant to someone drawn to a chronograph with a date-focused Carrera story, a teal-green dial and the curved visual profile of a Glassbox crystal. Whether it is the right fit depends on details the brochure alone cannot settle—especially the exact case dimensions, water resistance, local price and availability for the reference under consideration. Compare those specifications only after confirming the watch is CBS2211.FC6545 or another clearly identified Dato configuration.
