TAG Heuer has reportedly stopped producing its Connected smartwatches, but the company has not confirmed a shutdown. A Notebookcheck report published in October 2026, citing French outlet La Lettre, says production ended in summer 2026, remaining watches could be sold through the end of 2027, and no successor generation is planned. Notebookcheck added: “As of writing, neither TAG Heuer nor LVMH has publicly confirmed the move.”
What the report says—and what remains unconfirmed
The reported halt concerns TAG Heuer’s Connected line, not the company’s mechanical watches. La Lettre’s account, as relayed by Notebookcheck, describes production ending during summer 2026. It also says retailers may continue selling existing inventory gradually until the end of 2027 and that TAG Heuer does not plan another Connected generation.

Those dates and the claim that no new model is coming are media-reported information rather than corporate guidance. TAG Heuer and parent company LVMH had not publicly confirmed the move at the time of Notebookcheck’s report. Inventory, support policy and availability can therefore differ by country and retailer.

Which TAG Heuer Connected model is current?
TAG Heuer’s own documentation identifies the Connected Calibre E5 as its latest generation. The United States model-identification FAQ says the 45 mm E5 was released in 2025 and uses a reference beginning with SBT8A; the 40 mm version uses a reference beginning with SBT80. That makes E5 the relevant model for a buyer considering a new Connected watch, although local stock must be checked separately.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The reported production halt does not establish that every E5 watch is already discontinued. A retailer may still have new units, while another region may have no inventory. Ask the seller to confirm the exact reference, warranty coverage and return period before paying a premium for supposedly scarce stock.
Can you still buy a TAG Heuer Connected?
Possibly, depending on geography and remaining inventory. If the report is accurate, future purchases would come from stock already manufactured rather than a continuing production run. That can create uneven availability between the 40 mm and 45 mm sizes, colors and strap configurations.

Checks to make before buying
- Confirm that the watch is a Calibre E5 and record its reference number.
- Verify that the seller is authorized in your region and provides a manufacturer-backed warranty.
- Check the software and phone requirements listed for that generation.
- Get written confirmation of the return window, especially if the seller describes the watch as clearance or final sale.
- Compare the price with the watch’s normal retail level; a reported production halt does not automatically make unused stock collectible.
What happens to support, apps and updates?
Production status and software support are separate questions. TAG Heuer’s Connected application terms say the app is designed for later generations released from 2020 onward, but is not compatible with the original TAG Heuer Connected from 2015, the Connected Modular 45 and 41 from 2017, or the 2019 Modular 45 Golf edition. Owners should identify their generation before assuming that an app download, phone pairing or feature update will work.
The terms do not promise a particular number of years of operating-system updates after production ends. A retailer’s remaining E5 stock may be new, yet future phone-platform compatibility remains subject to TAG Heuer’s software decisions and the requirements of the underlying mobile operating system. Keep purchase records and check official service channels for generation-specific answers.

Can an E1–E4 owner trade in for an E5?
In the United States, TAG Heuer documented a Connected Watch Trade-In Program effective October 8, 2025. Its terms describe credit for trading in a Connected Calibre E1, E2, E3 or E4 when purchasing the latest-generation Connected Calibre E5. The transferred watch is not returned.
The program is not a universal promise of cash value or worldwide eligibility. It is tied to the United States terms, requires an E5 purchase and is subject to the conditions in those terms. Before sending an older watch, confirm the current credit amount, qualifying retailer or channel, condition requirements, shipping process and what happens if the submitted watch is rejected.

Warranty and service considerations
TAG Heuer’s warranty FAQ states that, as of June 17, 2025, Connected watches are excluded from eligibility for its extended-warranty offering. That policy distinction does not prove that production has ended, but it matters when comparing a Connected purchase with a mechanical TAG Heuer intended for a longer ownership horizon.
For existing owners
- Keep the original receipt, reference number and service documentation.
- Install available firmware and app updates while your phone and watch still support them.
- Ask TAG Heuer service about battery, screen and parts availability before the warranty expires.
- Back up important health or activity data through the connected phone app where that feature is offered.
Should you buy now or wait?
| Situation | Practical choice | Main uncertainty |
|---|---|---|
| You want TAG Heuer branding and smartwatch functions now | Look for an in-stock Calibre E5, verify the reference and warranty, and avoid paying an unexplained scarcity premium. | Future production and update policy remain unconfirmed. |
| You already own an E1–E4 in the United States | Check the documented trade-in terms before purchasing an E5. | Credit, eligibility and participating channels depend on the current program terms. |
| You need the longest predictable service life | Compare the E5’s documented support with a mechanical watch or another smartwatch platform with a published update policy. | TAG Heuer has not publicly confirmed a successor or a post-production support timetable. |
| You own a 2015 or 2017-generation Connected | Do not assume compatibility with the current app; identify the generation first. | Those models are expressly excluded by the current app terms. |
Bottom line for buyers and owners
The available evidence supports describing TAG Heuer’s smartwatch production as reportedly halted, not officially discontinued. Calibre E5 remains the latest Connected model named in TAG Heuer’s documentation, and United States owners of E1–E4 watches have a documented trade-in route tied to an E5 purchase. Treat end-of-2027 stock estimates, the absence of a future generation and any assumptions about long-term updates as unconfirmed until TAG Heuer or LVMH publishes a statement.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the TAG Heuer Connected E5 officially discontinued?
No official discontinuation announcement is documented here. The reported summer 2026 production halt and possible sales through 2027 come from La Lettre as relayed by Notebookcheck, while TAG Heuer and LVMH had not confirmed them.
Will my older Connected watch keep working?
That depends on its generation, phone and app compatibility, battery condition and future software support. TAG Heuer’s app terms specifically exclude the original 2015 Connected, the 2017 Modular 45 and 41, and the 2019 Modular 45 Golf edition.
