The ranking reflects each collection’s approximate share of Rolex transaction value on Chrono24, not Rolex production, worldwide sales, authorized-dealer waitlists or units sold. That distinction matters because the market remains strong but is no longer in its pandemic-era frenzy.
How “most sought-after” is measured
Chrono24’s 2026 Rolex report analyzes several million completed marketplace transactions from 2018 through the second quarter of 2026. Its top-five list ranks collections by share of Rolex transaction value. The percentages are approximate and rounded; they should not be added together to estimate all Rolex demand.

The Datejust accounts for about 28% of Rolex transaction value in the report, making it the clear leader by this measure. Its appeal is breadth rather than one celebrity configuration: buyers can choose among many generations, metals, dial designs, bracelets and case sizes. That range also makes the Datejust a frequent first Rolex purchase.

Its leading share does not mean every Datejust reference outsells every sports model. It indicates that the collection’s combined marketplace value is larger than any other Rolex family in the dataset.
2. Rolex GMT-Master II: sports-watch demand with a travel function
The GMT-Master II represents about 14% of Rolex transaction value. Three GMT references appear among Chrono24’s eight 2026 year-to-date best-selling Rolex references: the 126710BLNR “Batman,” 126710BLRO “Pepsi” and 126710GRNR “Bruce Wayne.” Their two-color 24-hour bezels and dual-time capability give the line a distinct identity, while colorways create strong differences in market pricing.
3. Rolex Submariner: the benchmark dive watch
The Submariner contributes about 12% of transaction value. Chrono24’s leading references include the Submariner Date 126610LN, no-date 124060 and green-bezel 126610LV, commonly called the “Starbucks.” The date and no-date versions serve slightly different preferences, but all retain the collection’s core dive-watch proportions and professional heritage.
4. Rolex Cosmograph Daytona: the high-demand chronograph
The Cosmograph Daytona also accounts for about 12%. The discontinued steel 116500LN is among Chrono24’s best-selling references by transaction volume. Its position illustrates why a collection’s share and an individual reference’s popularity should not be confused: one discontinued steel Daytona can command exceptional attention even though the collection’s total share ties the Submariner at this rounded level.
5. Rolex Day-Date: precious metal and the President bracelet
The Day-Date holds about 6% of Chrono24 Rolex transaction value. Unlike the steel-heavy sports collections, it is defined by precious-metal construction and the President bracelet. Its smaller share reflects a narrower price and style proposition, not a lack of recognition. Buyers seeking the traditional flagship Rolex format often focus on metal, dial and bracelet combinations within this collection.
What the reference-level numbers show
The following figures are Chrono24 marketplace estimates for 2026 year-to-date best-selling references. They are not official Rolex retail prices, guaranteed sale prices or investment forecasts. Currency is euros, and the percentage is the reported year-on-year change.

The sad reality: demand cooled after the pandemic boom
Chrono24’s Rolex price index was about 55% above its 2019 level and had risen roughly 7% over the year before its August 5, 2026 report. At the same time, the marketplace’s Rolex share has returned close to its pre-2019 level after reaching a 44% peak in early 2022. Chrono24 reports that Rolex’s share fell by 3–8 percentage points across price segments since 2023.

In other words, prices remain elevated versus 2019, but the extraordinary premium associated with the pandemic period has unwound. Buyers are distributing more spending across brands, and Chrono24 says younger customers have shown greater interest in other brands and in classic watches such as the Datejust.

Regional context—and what it does not prove
Among North American buyers on Chrono24, Rolex represented 35% of watch transaction volume, up from about 27% in 2018. In Asia, its share moved from the low 30s to around 20%. These are regional shares of Chrono24 transactions, not total regional watch sales.
A separate Chrono24 analysis covering the first quarter of 2020 through the fourth quarter of 2024 found Rolex at 34.2% of global secondary luxury-watch transaction volume, with a 43.9% peak in the first quarter of 2022. Because that analysis uses a different period and measure, it should not be combined directly with the 2026 collection percentages.
What this ranking means if you are buying
- Choose the metric first. Datejust leads by collection transaction value, while individual sports references dominate parts of the volume ranking.
- Separate market estimates from retail. The euro figures above describe Chrono24 marketplace transactions; they are not current Rolex list prices.
- Compare like with like. Reference number, metal, bezel, bracelet, condition, completeness, currency, transaction date and marketplace all affect a secondary-market figure.
- Do not infer a guaranteed return. A high transaction value or year-on-year increase does not establish future appreciation.
- Do not infer a wait time. The available data does not establish current authorized-retailer inventory or a global waitlist for any collection.
The practical conclusion is straightforward: Datejust is the broadest-demand collection on the cited 2026 measure, while GMT-Master II, Submariner and Daytona remain especially visible in reference-level trading. The market is healthier than it was in 2019 but less speculative than at the 2022 peak.
