The Best Gadgets That Work With Google Fit in 2025: What to Know in 2026

Google Fit users are beginning a transition to Google Health. Here’s how to distinguish direct Fit syncing from current Google Health connections and choose a wearable by phone platform and shared metrics.

Updated October 8, 2026: “Works with Google Fit” can mean direct syncing to the legacy Google Fit app or sharing data with Google Health, its announced successor. Those are not the same thing. Google said Google Fit users would begin migrating to Google Health later in 2026, so current Google Health compatibility should not be treated as proof of direct Google Fit compatibility. Google’s May 2026 transition announcement explains the change.

If you are choosing a wearable now, Google’s current Google Health overview features Fitbit Charge 6, Fitbit Air, Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Watch 5. For other brands, documented routes commonly pass through Health Connect on Android or Apple Health on iPhone—and the data shared varies by brand. This guide distinguishes those routes rather than presenting every connected device as a verified Google Fit gadget.

What “works with Google Fit” means now

Google Fit’s product page says the app works with many health apps and devices to provide a broader view of activity and health. But that broad description does not establish that every device sends every metric directly to Google Fit. Google Fit’s page describes its connected ecosystem; current Google Health documentation describes a separate, evolving platform.

  • Direct Google Fit connection: the device or its companion app sends data to the legacy Google Fit app. The sources reviewed for this article do not verify direct legacy Fit compatibility for the current Google Health devices named below.
  • Google Health connection: a device or service shares data with Google Health, directly or through another health-data service. This is the pathway to consider as Google Fit users begin migrating later in 2026.
  • Shared data is not necessarily complete: a connection may transfer steps or sleep but omit other measurements, and the receiving app may calculate values differently.

Google’s migration notice is about the consumer apps and does not mean Google Fit has already shut down. Its separate developer notice says support for the legacy Fitbit Web API ends September 30, 2026; the API may continue operating without bug fixes or support until shutdown on October 30, 2026. Those dates concern the API, not a stated consumer-app shutdown date. Google’s developer documentation contains the API notice and current Google Health API onboarding information.

Current Google Health ecosystem wearables

These are the clearest Google-aligned wearable choices in Google’s current product overview. They are recommendations for the Google Health ecosystem—not a verified list of devices that directly sync with the legacy Google Fit app.

Device What Google’s materials establish Compatibility qualification
Fitbit Charge 6 Featured in Google’s current Google Health wearable overview. Current direct Google Fit compatibility was not established in the official sources reviewed.
Fitbit Air Google’s compatibility table includes Fitbit Air for Google Health API data. This establishes a Google Health pathway, not direct legacy Google Fit syncing.
Pixel Watch 4 Featured as a wearable designed for the Google Health app. That product positioning does not establish direct legacy Google Fit compatibility.
Pixel Watch 5 Featured as a wearable designed for the Google Health app. That product positioning does not establish direct legacy Google Fit compatibility.

See Google’s Google Health overview for the current device positioning and Google’s 2026 announcement for Fitbit Air’s launch context. Google listed Fitbit Air at $99 and its Special Edition at $129 at launch; those are dated 2026 launch prices, not confirmed current retail prices.

Third-party brands: check the route and the metrics

Google documents Google Health data pathways for Garmin, Xiaomi, Samsung, Oura, Whoop, Withings and Zepp/Amazfit. These often rely on the manufacturer’s companion app plus a phone health-data service rather than a direct connection between the wearable and Google Health. Android users may use Health Connect; iPhone users may use Apple Health where the brand’s pathway supports it. Xiaomi’s documented route is Android-only.

In practice, the route affects whether a device is suitable for you: it may require regular syncing in the maker’s app, may be limited to one phone platform, and may transfer only some of the measurements you care about. Google’s current Google Health connection and data-sharing guide lists brand-specific inclusions and omissions. Examples from that guide:

Oura, Whoop, Withings, Zepp/Amazfit Google documents pathways for these brands. Specific supported and omitted metrics vary; consult the brand’s current entry in Google’s guide rather than assuming a complete transfer.

“Not shared” here means not included in the documented pathway described by Google; it does not mean the wearable fails to measure that data in its own app. Compatibility details can change, so check the linked guide before buying or changing phones.

How to choose a device for your phone and priorities

If you want the closest Google-first experience

Start with the devices featured in Google’s Google Health overview: Fitbit Charge 6, Fitbit Air, Pixel Watch 4 or Pixel Watch 5. Choose based on the form factor and device features you want, but do not infer direct legacy Google Fit support from their Google Health positioning.

If you use an iPhone

Look for a brand with a documented Apple Health route into Google Health, then verify both the specific metrics and the required companion app. A route documented only through Android Health Connect will not serve as the same option for an iPhone user.

If you use Android

For a third-party wearable, confirm that its companion app can write the metrics you need to Health Connect and that Google Health can read them. Keep the manufacturer’s app in the sync routine; Google says regular syncing through that app may be needed for timely updates.

If one metric matters most

Check the exact measurement in Google’s brand-by-brand sharing list before purchase. A device’s ability to record a metric does not mean that metric will appear in Google Health or Google Fit through the documented connection.

What to expect after connecting a device

  1. Confirm the target app. Decide whether you need data in the legacy Google Fit app now or are setting up for Google Health. They are distinct destinations during the announced transition.
  2. Install and sync the manufacturer’s companion app. For third-party brands, Google’s documented pathways commonly depend on this app to pass data onward. Sync the wearable there regularly.
  3. Enable the supported phone connection. Use Health Connect on Android or Apple Health on iPhone when that is the route specified for the brand. Xiaomi’s documented route is Android-only.
  4. Check the available categories and permissions. Compare the metrics Google lists for the brand with the permissions enabled in the phone and maker apps. A successful connection may still omit categories.
  5. Allow for different calculations. Google says values may differ between apps because each calculates from available data differently. Matching connections do not guarantee identical totals.

Google’s current help material also identifies data not yet available in Google Health, including exercise minutes and stand hours. If your routine depends on either, verify its current availability rather than assuming it will carry over from another app. Google’s help guide is the relevant current reference.

Which gadgets are actually best?

There is no evidence in Google’s official compatibility pages for ranking these devices by accuracy, battery life, comfort or overall quality. The defensible choice is the one whose platform route and shared metrics match your needs: Google Health-oriented Fitbit and Pixel devices for the current Google ecosystem, or a third-party wearable only after confirming its phone pathway and metric list. If your requirement is specifically direct syncing to legacy Google Fit, verify that exact connection with the maker before purchase; Google Health compatibility alone does not answer it.
